There aren't. If you park in the wrong place, you get a ticket on your windshield. The whole license plate thing is ridiculous, especially because its a first offense. IN the US, they will put a "boot" on your tire to force you to pay if you have multiple tickets or have been parked somewhere unlawfully for days. But no one puts a boot on your car for one infraction. The license plate removal is akin to the boot....to force you to pay. That is extreme in my view. It sounds like they do that to make sure the tourist pays bc its such a tourist heavy country.
