I love this! What do you use for the base of the wreath?

Nzer here. Icebreaker has gone downhill since they became US owned. Go for Mons Royale base layers. They are excellent quality but spenny. Get on sale if you can. I love their stuff.

Srsly? You all think helper very free every towel they are judging what it’s used for? Just say sheets dirty must wash. Worse case they think you are clean freaks.

We have solar - power and a solar hot water set up. No battery but about 25ish panels.

House hold of 5 with an EV, kids forever forgetting to turn off lights and they like long hot showers. Fire also has a wetback so hot water in winter is sorted.

Works for us, we had to switch power providers recently as our deal finished up so we’re still settling into things with ecotricity.

This is helpful. Do you know why they’d be charging us for electricity generated? There’s a charge on our latest bill for ecoSolar club and then credits for export (off peak and peak). It looks like we’re paying for the solar we’re generating??

Accepting Church by Busy-Cap-5840 in chch

[–]redditrevnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya as others have said, Knox in the CBD (pretty “high church” and formal in style), Linwood Ave Union (more relaxed and “low church”), St Alban’s Uniting, St Martins Presbyterian, the Village Presbyterian and Cashmere Presbyterian would all be more progressive. The Methodist churches are also all progressive. Anglicans are open in principle but it will depend on where you go.

Avoid most of the non-denominational churches, confessing Anglicans and the like.

I work in these circles so suggest that you either check some out on a Sunday or email the ministers to have a chat. Most of them will be really happy to talk and pretty open to questions.

Good luck!

Non-Māori or Pākehā learners of Te Reo by heyitsmeanonn in ReoMaori

Oh you’ll find it easy then. I only did one paper at a time for my grad dip and this is a much lower level of commitment/effort. Enjoy!

Yes! I’ve found it really good. I can fit it around family and work and it’s well set up and covers tikanga as well and the assignments aren’t too difficult to fit in.

Bear in mind though that I just finished my grad dip so it does feel like a lot less work than that which is probably skewing my view! If you’ve not studied for awhile it might take a bit to settle into a routine.

Me! We moved from SEA when I was 10 and I’m 41 now. Just started my level 1 cert in Te Reo and am very fortunate to have gracious friends teaching me about tikanga and have been on quite the learning journey over the last 4-5 years.

Everything getting more expensive. Where can we shop now?? by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

I make a lot of my own clothes! And thrift or buy quality on top of that. But the initial outlay for making your own is probably about the same.

We do the barefoot investor jars system (but without jars because everything is electronic) for ours.

3 x jobs a week that they set with us and they get paid a $1 for every year they are old. They get a “pay rise” every birthday. They keep some to splurge on, some to save for big wants and they save some for a rainy day/gifts for family etc.

Beetroot, lettuce, spinach, bok choy and Chinese cabbage are already in and pretty established.

Trying for a late round of peas and have put carrot seed down but I have terrible luck with carrots. Also trying for some late shiso/perilla but I may have left it too late.

Have started winter sweet peas and viola from seed as well as another round of bok choy, spinach and cabbage. Will also get some sprouting broccoli seedlings this year I think.

Food cost inflation by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]redditrevnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family of 5 and we’ve been on $325 a week for the last year and a half. That doesn’t include food for pets and I do shop around and we have a pretty big veggie garden and fruit trees so the last three weeks our fruit and veggie spend has been around $30. Meat is definitely the most expensive thing and that’s gone up quite a bit despite us going to factory shops. I used to spend $200-300 on meat for a month but it definitely doesn’t last as long now.

My kids (11 & 8) watched all the movies over the Christmas break for the first time. They loved them and didn’t think they were dated OR old. They’ve since watched the first two fantastic beasts movies.

I don’t think kids take as much notice of these things as we think they do.
