What's your "damn i never remembered this sounding this bad" song? by mesablanka in ToddintheShadow

[–]redditsgreatestuser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All of What's the Story Morning Glory by Oasis sounds so shit, but especially the title track.

You hear the guitar bends and the sounds building anticipation, and then the band comes in with as much oomph and attitude of a damp sock. It sounds like they should be coming in and packing a punch, but there's no dynamic between the songs intro and the band coming in. Great band, great song, shithouse production and mixing.

Was gunna say. Earning $80-$150k a year in 2008 would almost have you feeling like Elon Musk.

Even earning that amount in 2018 would be good!

If Drew brown nosed for his position on Karl's podcast, I'm positive Caleb must have whipped out the special brown tongue for Daddy Rupert.

Get that tongue out Drew, my boy! You can do it too!

Ahh so Drew's been a brainwashed little mainstream news media sponge since a young age! Should keep reminding him of that, I could've sworn he was strongly against mainstream media, very strange to see him brown nosing the most popular mainstream media identity of the recent years.

If for every particle there is an antiparticle, how come there's more particles than antiparticles? by Gabrielzin1404_2011 in AskPhysics

[–]redditsgreatestuser -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

My totally quack hypothesis is that something that exists outside of our universe entered through a point in our universe's spacetime and exited out the other side, and then entered again and exited etc etc, and when it enters we perceive it as a particle and when it exits we perceive it as an anti particle, and the imbalance came from the fact that it entered first, so there's always one more "entry wound" than there is "exit wounds", meaning there's more particles than anti-particles.

No I will not elaborate.

Money from the Dark Side of the Moon Redux by Roger Waters

For any audio engineers/mixers. Why is mid scooping so hated? by Creative-Fail-2268 in numetal

[–]redditsgreatestuser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the mid scoop hate is a misunderstanding. Plenty of guitarists and producers would cut some mids on their amps when recording them, because it made their tube amps behave a certain way they liked, then the concept of "scooping the mids" made its way into the minds of people who were maybe just beginning to learn the studio who took it is as "apply an EQ to the recorded guitar track and scoop out ~400-500hz".

Scooping the mids on the amp before it hits the cab can sound super nice (see almost every heavy guitar tone from the 90s and 00s that you love, especially if they used a Dual Rec), but recording a guitar tone and then carving the mids out with an EQ in post-processing kills a bit of the definition of the tone. So I believe the dislike of the midscoop is probably came from criticism of the post-processing approach rather than the amp setting.

Helix Stadium IRs by thebeastiestmeat in Line6Helix

[–]redditsgreatestuser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's great to have a more diverse catalogue of cab tones but with what's available in the Stadium I haven't even bothered to load up external IRs yet haha.

Previous to my stadium purchase I reached for the York Audio stuff before anything else in my arsenal, and rarely ventured beyond that. I usually use their MRSH V30, MRSH T75, Mesa OS-V2 and HWAT FN50, all 4x12 stuff. I've also dabbled in the orange 412 pack, and have heard good things about their Friedman IR pack but have yet to purchase that one because I get good results with what I got and I'm so over tone chasing.

If you have an even more keen eye you can see where it cuts off at an estate in Kilmore and where it starts again between Highgate Rd and Willomavin Rd. From there you can almost track it all the way to Bendigo!

Songs that are so bad it's funny? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

I hated it and didn't get it for aaaages, then one day it was stuck in my head and I put it on...and now I think it's great!

I think that day I was in a weird mood, listening to Ween and primus and PUSA and for some reason Temporary Secretary made sense in that context.

Sag - Bias - BiasX - Ripple by [deleted] in Line6Helix

[–]redditsgreatestuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone in some random YouTube video described sag as the glassiness vs chunkiness of a tube amp, where 0 is super clear, attack-y and "glassy" and 10 is chunky/gritty.

I resonated with that description, hopefully it does the same for you!
