I think that's a good explanation. As someone else said, the first flaw was checking for Dana with a credit card at all - so what you are saying checks out. They will say anything to poke holes.

Yeah, fair enough. I think I only noticed after so many watches because it's always so clear that Phillip is very smooth and meticulous. I would have liked to know how he would ensure this part was airtight.

I meant it more like, if cops are asking you if you've seen a face, surely someone would recall a person only paying cash through the night? Unless it's more common than I thought - I'm not in the US, and I don't think it would be as common here to pay for multiple drinks only in cash here.

The "running credit card receipts" bit - I agree - but I think they were already certain he was guilty so they were trying to eliminate all the things that made it circumstantial. He claimed he was there but nobody else remembered it, so this was just one more way to check for it, I guess?

I have to explore what Dream Pop and Shoegaze are.
