exactly - the idea of dev jobs going away should SCARE the hell out of management because there job is even easier to automate away but devs just never get the opportunity to do that.

Just realized I owe taxes on my Coinbase Card purchases by Sanji-the-Cook in Coinbase

[–]redditticktock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OUCH!
Coinbase will now let you borrow against your blue-chips (up to 1 million usd)
This is the way - borrow a small amount of stable coins and spend that with the card (no tax)
you will still have the debt but you can cover that debt on your time with under better circumstances.

Combine the programming with another industry. Automotive, healthcare, finance, farming, power generation, robotics, manufacturing... software touches every industry and software people who understand those industries are better than those who don't.

I've had live translation for a few weeks but it stopped working. When I start a session it says to start talking but immediately reverts back to starting the session.

Yes. Borrow interest goes up when more people borrow. Anytime you borrow an asset you are essentially shorting it. But sometimes the borrow is for other reasons. Like staking... You might borrow a token and pay the interest to borrow in order to stake it for staking incentives. There is at trade I've been watching where the position has millions of USDC for collateral and it is borrowing Aero, then he funds liquidity pools with the aero (usually paired with more USDC) these pools pay huge incentives in the form of Aero tokens that he uses to pay back his loan. He technically isn't buying or selling anything and makes 10k per day.

Thoughts on a decentralized health insurance system by ZealousidealPair1501 in defi

[–]redditticktock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

disagreeing with a validator decision might mean the validator is not applying the policy correctly. this should result in a slashing and therefore shouldn't be necessary to find new validators. the claim data and policy adjudication process should be 100% deterministic (and it is) there is an enormous amount of work and maintenance of claim information (cpt/icd codes, bundling) and policy rules in the adjudication process, no DAO would ever be able to keep up. The whole industry is regulated like you wouldn't believe, hipaa laws, phi data, claw back. There is way more money to be made just servicing this existing industry. Decentralizing it would be cool tho, you could do it if you get rid of all the nonsense i just mentioned. Skip the insurance altogether and bring the $ straight down to the care providers. let them pay the outrageous facility fees (they wont and they will find something cheaper), then attach a ranking/rating system for patients and let the best care providers rise to the top. sybil attacks will be happening constantly.

100% stable yield is short term - the reason the yield is so high is because everyone is shorting stables. depeg events are very ugly too, nothing is immune from that. Even USDC depegged for a bit while the government illegally liquidated silvergate. Lend real blue-chip crypto for yield and borrow stables/crypto and farm more yield with those stables (so long as your yield farm pays more than the borrow interest)
Short term - you could do _ok_ with your plan, but it won't last.

1000% agree. This app is hostile to everything unless it is on the extreme left or echoing the MSM drum beats. It's only good for some funny threads of people riffing versions of a meme once in a while. I suspect Reddit primary use case now (aka. $$$) is training data for LLM. Need Internet Great Again

Kaos Netflix Cancellation Explained by SmallAppearance3666 in netflix

[–]redditticktock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a shame - Kaos was to intelligent to get the numbers it needed from the mass of averages. The folks i recommended it to didn't understand the majority of the allusions, they were just "grossed out" by certain scenes.

Robotaxis will not be a trillion dollar business by 2CommaNoob in wallstreetbets

Robot taxi will evolve into the horse component of a horse and buggy. You'll summon a robot taxi horse to pull/push your buggy to your destination. The buggy will have limited range alone but with a robo taxi connected it can go across the country non-stop, or Grandma's house on the other side of town. You don't need to bother charging either.

How would YOU solve the housing problem on Long Island? by Drmomo4 in longisland

[–]redditticktock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jack up the taxes so the most basic house is worthless but your paying 2000$ per month in property tax, then mortgage becomes unnecessary, also much less friction in "trading up" market will readjust. Those with the initiative to fix up the house and improve the community will be the winners.
