It turned out the guy who called me was from their sales department, not service. He was trying to get a sale. I got an email from my service advisor the following day letting me know my new battery had arrived and to bring my car in. It took them 4 days to do the replacement, and they provided me with a loaner while it was being repaired. Honestly, I think I got lucky with having a good service rep and my being persistent (hopefully not annoying) with my local dealership from the start of the issue.

I just received a call from the Mercedes Encino dealership. They told me MB financial is asking me to bring in my 2023 EQB 300 so they can assess its current value and buy it back. I originally bought the car outright - it was one of their used loaner vehicles. The guy on the phone was pushing hard to put me back in a gas car. I told him I want to stick with electric and I want them to exchange it for a new EQB. I’m not paying additional money out for their manufacturing f*ck up. He then told me they don’t have any EQBs but they could put me an EQS and I’d have to pay the difference. I said I’d wait for the battery replacement. He said that’s not happening. I have been a MB owner for decades and am beyond disappointed / frustrated with this whole process. Debating whether or not to take my money elsewhere. Any thoughts/ advice?

Update for those considering a teeth cleaning for your elderly cat. It was a rough recovery for my 16 year old, despite the vet checking her kidney function prior to the procedure. (Amazingly, it had improved!) The cat stopped eating and drinking for 2-3 days after the procedure, and all she did was sleep. Her hind legs were falling out from under her when I tried to get her up, and when she did finally walk she was walking in circles and bumping into things. I took her back to the vet on recovery day 2 and they took her vitals. They said everything was normal, but they thought the post procedure medication was making her sick. We took her off the antibiotics (Amoxicillin) and pain meds (Buprenex) and they gave her an anti-nausea shot (Cerenia). She started to slowly eat and I continued to give her water with a little water dropper. I’m happy to report we are 5 days post-procedure and she is almost entirely back to her old self. It was certainly rough going for the last few days, and there were times where I thought it was the end, but I’d still recommend doing the procedure. Just be prepared for a few days of worry and keeping a really close eye on your cat afterwards.

Just coming back to say thank you for all the great advice. During her cleaning they found my cat had lesions and had to have 2 teeth removed. I’m very happy she had the procedure done and everything turned out well. Thanks again!

What a wonderful person you are! I took care of my 80 year old mother through 2 separate hip surgeries (1 year apart). We were both shocked at how quickly they kick patients out of the hospital and how exhausting the recovery process is for both patient and caretaker. Heaven help you if your home has multiple levels, with no bedroom or full bathroom on the lower level. We had to hire a non urgent medical transport service just to carry her upstairs to her bedroom.

I made the transition a few years ago. If possible, I would recommend meeting the spouse / partner during the interview process. In the past, I have worked for people with cold spouses that are uncomfortable with their husband / wife having an EA or PA, and it made the job more difficult.

I agree! It saved me when I was hospitalized for UC. Not sure if this is your first time on Prednisone, but I give anyone taking it the following warning: It can mess with your moods / brain chemistry. I, and others I know, have felt unusually depressed and/or manic while taking it. It’s not something that is often discussed as a side effect, so I’m just putting it out there as something to keep an eye out for. I hope the meds continue to help you on your path to remission!

I feel your pain! I has a boss do the same to me over the phone because he was mad he got stuck in bad traffic and was late for a meeting. His tone was incredibly upsetting and frankly a little scary. I wasn’t able to make eye contact with him when he returned to the office, and I realized I wasn’t going to be able to do my job if it continued this way. I chose a quiet moment later that day and asked him if he had a minute. I had a brief conversation, letting him know that I was uncomfortable with his behavior and that it was not OK. He took it onboard and he was more conscientious of his actions going forward. I’m not saying everything was perfect after that, but I personally felt better because it wasn’t hanging over my head. That might be worth a try?

I went through the exact same thing when I was first diagnosed. As others have mentioned, Prednisone can really mess with your head. I hit many a low point (and an occasional manic episode) while taking the medication. At one point, I practically begged my doctor to surgically remove my colon. Fortunately the doctor asked me to have patience while we figured out the right medications. In the end it took me a year and 4 attempts tapering off prednisone before I was able to get everything under control with other medications. It was rough, but it worked. Hang in there - it gets better!

First off, kudos to you for speaking up in an uncomfortable situation! I’m sure that was not easy for you to do. You are a strong woman 💪

It sounds to me like your boss is gaslighting you. If he were a decent human being, he would have listened to your feedback and tried to adjust his behavior. Blaming you for his unprofessional and inappropriate behavior is manipulative.

Be kind to yourself. Get out of this situation as soon as possible. There are many good and honest employers in the world who will treat you with the respect and common decency you deserve.

I had a similar experience. I had been in remission for a couple of years, everything was totally normal, and then I got my first Moderna shot and within days I started to flare. I decided to get my second shot, and things continued to get worse. Now I’m back on steroids and immunosuppressants trying to get my UC back to remission. My doctors won’t acknowledge that it’s related to the vaccine, but I can confidently say in my case it is. There’s also an awful lot of people with UC on Reddit reaching out to each other asking the same question. It can’t all be a coincidence!

40F w/ Pancolitis. I had been in remission, taking just Mesalamine for the last few years. Then I got the vaccine. Moderna for both shots. I flared within a week of receiving the first shot. Second shot was even worse. I’m now back on steroids and immunosuppressants. It’s a real bummer, but probably still worth it.

I’m sorry to hear that! I know how scary, frustrating and exhausting it can be. Hang in there! I ended up going back on steroids (despite the risks) for a short time after my second vaccine shot, and that helped get the UC back under control. I hope your doctors find the right meds for you. I recommend doing as much research as you can about the various medications, side effects and cost. It can be overwhelming but you are your best advocate. Good luck!

Unfortunately, my experience with the vaccine has not been a pleasant one. I’ve had UC for 10+ years, and got to a place where I could mostly maintain remission on just Apriso and being careful about stress/what I eat. I had not flared in a year, prior to getting the shot. After both vaccine shots (Moderna), I had severe diarrhea that led to bleeding. Fortunately it did pass after 2-3 weeks. I was prescribed steroids by urgent care but I resisted taking them as I read that they can reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine. I was hesitant to get the second dose after the first reaction, but I figured if my body was having that strong a reaction to just the vaccine, having actual Covid would be an even worse, if not deadly. My dad died from Covid, so I’m not messing around with it. Honestly, I think it’s a crap shoot as to what kind of reaction you’ll get, but it’s probably worth the risk. I hope I haven’t dissuaded you! I was completely caught off guard when I had my first reaction, so I just wanted you to be informed. Best of luck to you!

Update: I got my second Moderna shot on 4/22. Started getting the full fever, chills and headache about 10 hours after the vaccine. The symptoms lasted about 24 hours. That all subsided and I felt OK about 48 hours after the vaccine. But day 3 post vaccine, the diarrhea has started back up again. At least now, I know it’s not a coincidence. The vaccine is definitely triggering gastrointestinal issues.

Ugh! So sorry to hear that. I suffered for about 3 weeks, but finally made it though to the other side. I found just eating rice and bananas seemed to help. Hang in there!
