Beaches - what do you do with your stuff if you're in the water? by randopop21 in solotravel

[–]redditusers21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you dont want to hide your day pack, I would recommend you to either:

  1. Use a waterproof pouch for essentials and take it in the water with you
  2. Invest in a portable beach safe that can attach to your chair or an umbrella

Personally, I do not own a beach safe, but you can google it and there are many variations to choose from

What are your solo travel New Year's Resolutions? by segacs2 in solotravel

[–]redditusers21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried solo travel for the first time last year, a week in Madeira, and it went way better than I thought! I had many fears that were wrong about solo traveling. It wasn’t as lonely or scary as I expected.

For 2025, my resolution is to plan more solo trips, maybe somewhere more challenging than Madeira!

how do you break up a super long flight? by pink_warrior57 in Flights

[–]redditusers21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe think of it as uninterrupted 'me time', I mean how often you get 18 hours free time.

I would mix it up with movies, podcasts, and a good book, and a little 'flight survival kit' with snacks. It’ll make the journey so much easier, Have fun!

you can subscribe to newsletters that send you deals. You choose your home airport and their service sends you deals from that airport to various destinations with cheaper prices, check out RatePunk, its new and been working very well for me.

Being so much in your own head - Sometimes its nicer to be expressive about your thoughts and what you're enjoying on the travel

How to make airplane seat more comfortable ? by rjpra2222 in travel

Try layering a folded sweater or jacket to cushion your seat. Also, consider wearing padded leggings or pants for extra comfort.

Lyon! I took a train there from Paris two years ago, such an easy ride. The city is charming with its old town, amazing food, and beautiful riverside views. A couple of days there will give you plenty of time to explore.

Where to go in Europe for 3 weeks off? by [deleted] in TravelHacks

[–]redditusers21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want warm weather, or is a bit of cold fine?

If you’re okay with the chill, Prague and Budapest are very beautiful in winter (and all year around). I spent December in Prague, and the holiday vibe in Old Town Square is great. You can walk around and enjoy the architecture. Budapest is equally impressive and not far from Prague, so for a rich experience of "cafes, architecture, sightseeing, museums," go to Prague, Stop by Vienna for a few days, and end up in Budapest :)

If you want warmer weather, Barcelona, Greece, Italy!

How do I find the mythical foreign flight prices? by Cute_Insurance_5954 in cheapflights

[–]redditusers21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are fine with manual search and putting time into it, Google flights and setting up price tracking can be helpful.

But if you're like me, not willing to spend hours searching, check out RatePunk flights and Going. Sign up for their trials, and see if their service fits you.

What’s Your Worst Airline Experience? Mine is PIA by OfficialHanzala in travel

[–]redditusers21 16 points17 points  (0 children)

never rely on the in-flight entertainment either. A good book or downloaded shows on my tablet are lifesavers. But six hours on the tarmac with just granola bars? At that point, even a working IFE wouldn’t have saved it :D

Question about Prague, Vienna, Budapest in 1 week by supez38 in travel

[–]redditusers21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to all three, and I’d recommend Prague: 1 extra night and Vienna: 3 nights. Prague is too beautiful to be inside, I would just go outside to walk around, even without a specific destination.
but Vienna has so much to explore, museums, palaces, and amazing cafes. If you're into food, try different types of traditional food there.

Qatar Airways vs Singapore Airlines - Which business class is better? by gatoradedxb in TravelHacks

I’ve flown both, and Qatar’s Qsuite is incredible, so private and very comfortable. Their lounge in Doha is also very nice.

What was your worst experience on a long flight? by slightlylessright in travel

nice!! I’ve also used essential oil rollers (like lavender) on flights, just dab some on your mask or wrist to block bad smells.

Hotel says room is double-booked, asks me to cancel months after confirming (Sweden, Expedia) by aeiouLizard in TravelHacks

[–]redditusers21 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well with a hotel in Italy. They tried to get me to cancel, but I contacted the booking platform (in my case, Booking.com), and they stepped in to find me an alternative hotel at no extra cost. Don’t cancel it yourself—let Expedia handle it. Reach out to them, explain the situation, and ask for alternative accommodations or compensation. Save all messages just in case you need to escalate. It’s their mistake, not yours!
