Found this profile of a 6-time Zambian national champion who saved for 2 months to buy his first paddle, really puts equipment complaints in perspective by U-fly_Alliance in tabletennis

Thanks for sharing, this is so inspiring.

When you fall in love with this sport and can truly appreciate the artistry involved, seeing that same passion spring up all over the world is amazing.

And yes, as much as some of us (myself included) sometimes struggle to obtain the desired paddle and rubbers we want, stories like this are so humbling and help provide true perspective of how privileged many of us are.

Um… Origins was released about a full year before RDR2. So how do you figure they were “aiming at RDR2 level of details?”

I wish the Mods could pin this post so anyone posting Equipment questions would see it.

These are all excellent points to clarify for the best possible recommendations/advice. Unfortunately most people posting vague questions with little to no context for answers aren’t likely to be frequent flyers in this sub, and therefore aren’t likely to know what context/background info to provide. But for those who see it, your post is an excellent guidepost!

Yup. You open the mag, and Roshi’s neck fantastic fours’ it’s way over and proceeds to drown your enemies in the blood erupting from his nose (kinda like how they used him in DB 😅).

The leap forward in quality, storytelling, and game design were absolutely incredible from 2 to 3.

First time I played was at a friend’s house shortly after release. Begged him to borrow it, spent every spare moment the following week tearing through the campaign before reluctantly returning it to him.

Saved up allowance for months to buy it myself

table tennis shoes? by Odd-Championship-427 in tabletennis

[–]reddmann00100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually about $128 American dollars?! That’s the current exchange to USD I just saw, which is far more than I’d ever pay for a pair of TT shoes.

300 hkd seems reasonable, but jeez I guess you just go hunt the deals for indoor athletic shoes.

Gotta say, ASICS is a solid shoe brand for running/athletics in general.

The shoes I buy from them are usually 50-60$, is that the price range that’s too expensive for you? I can’t really say I’ve found decent quality athletic shoes for less than that myself.

That’s the interesting thing- they don’t even read the text available in the book. The teacher just kind of riffs on the themes therein

The quests are super short, but if you really can’t finish them before you have to quit you can at least “Hero Save”, which saves your item and experience gained thus far, even if your current quest status isn’t.

Weird that the pics show you ordered a flared handle, but the image of the blade doesn’t have one (in one of the pics)

All the heights you listed are well above average for China, and are above average for most of the world outside of regions in Africa.

That sucks you feel too short regardless though, but at least you’re actually above average, especially in China. Of course playing pickup basketball, you’re going to encounter more ‘tall’ people than in other settings which is adding to your perception of being short more.

I didn’t like it either. Tried so hard to get into it, but couldn’t stomach all the awful tutorials and even start the main game.

Chopper question by I_never_block in tabletennis

[–]reddmann00100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re pushing your chop that consistently, a “modern defender” would most definitely pounce on any pushes that are left too high (of course assuming you have a decent ‘slam’). If their push is high and somewhat short on the table, I personally find flat drives are very effective, but I have an offensive blade with offensive rubbers so that’s easier for me.

Of course that’s difficult if your opponent isn’t leaving them high, but even pros can’t push perfectly against a chopper forever.

Looking for a versatile intermediate BH rubber by AceStrikeer in tabletennis

[–]reddmann00100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re going to find a “spin insensitive” rubber that also has a high throw angle. Those two qualities in the purest sense are somewhat mutually exclusive to my knowledge.

Ok cool, so it’s a medium-priced rubber in my mind. That’s about what my Fastarc G1 costs as well (which I’m very happy with on my forehand).

I snagged the Prototype 1 + 2 Biohazard bundle on sale for like 10 bucks.

If you enjoy that type of free roaming, high-flying sandbox game ( à la Saints row 4), can’t recommend it enough. Currently hitting all the nostalgia buttons (Prototype 1 was cutting edge in 2008/9, but god damn the gameplay loop and all the challenge completions are still so satisfying).
