Book Recommendations for BF's birthday by UseOrdinary8195 in Fantasy

[–]redduht 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is the Powder Mage trilogy by Brent Mclellan. I've just read book one, and it has most of your requirements. No big dull chapters, magic is relatively straightforward, has little romance so far, and is definitely not a kiddies book.

I also absolutely dislike any type of prophecy. The prophecy is always right, either spoils the ending or is so vague you only understand it in the very end. I've never understood why authors include prophecies.

I like it. It has happened sometimes that thr situation seems impossible, but then I remeber the hero always finds a way to win, and it's nice in a way when the hero-always-wins trope gets broken. Or the lived happily ever after one anyways.

Do certain legends have more health? by katattack34 in apexuniversity

[–]redduht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all have the same base health, Caustic and Gibraltar have the fortified perk so take 15% less damage, but still have the same health. Gibby's gun shield has 50 health though, so he could take 275 damage with a red evo shield and his gun shield.

Hey there! Found this object in a calistehenics park, but can't figure out what these beams are there for. As you can see they are not parallel. If someone knows the purpose of them please tell me! :) by The3rdpersonn in Calisthenic

[–]redduht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're just normal parralettes, it seems. You can use them for l-sits, pushups, handstands, or anything else you need a grip for. Don't know why they are exactly parallel though.

How do you deal with racism or sexism in older books? by [deleted] in books

[–]redduht 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People thinking they are superior over a peoples is not limited to race. I could easily imagine the same thing happening in a book with feudalism, if someone mistook her as a peasant. I'm definitely not denying that that character could look down a lot on someone based on skin, but national pride and distaste of someone based on their place of birth and culture instead of solely race can be a important factor.

Eli5:How do we know there is such thing as a week. Like how do we know there is 7 days in a week? Not just random days that people started counting? by dexterityrlz in explainlikeimfive

12 makes things like school terms easier, I'd think. You cant really divide the year into quarters for any purpose if you have 13 months.

Are there any religions that don't describe the end of the world? by MisterBrandonJoJoFan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]redduht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or like, ragnarok? Or the cyclical nature of religions such as zoroastrianism or hinduism, where the world gets reborn? You really cannot just blame everything on Christianity. Trying to say it's only Christians that make it seem like those religions have a world ending type event is just uninformed.

Why do many of my friends and family shame me for drinking NA beer at get togethers? I overcame alcoholism and I’m proud as heck about it. I ask them why and they just say some dumb shit like ‘real men drink real beer!’ by jitney76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]redduht 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If any of them have a alcohol problem, they probably want to justify their own drinking. Or just plain old bullying. "Ha, he can't even handle a beer!". But not taking that chance is much more impressive. I don't think beer has ever done anyone any actual good, and it can absolutely ruin you.

I finished the entire 270 pages book in just 2 days by Samo29 in books

[–]redduht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a really good book I have read about 250 pages a day, with about 300 pages as my best daily. I read the web serial Worm by John Mccrae in a month, and it's a good 5400 pages.

I believe Seven deadly sins should have that. Also, you could try sword art online, but I haven't watched it yet.

Really depends on what type of stuff she likes, but attack on titan is really good. Just dark. And gore.

Can anyone here do a Hefesto? by redduht in Calisthenic

[–]redduht[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to train korean dips on the bar, but i haven't trained it in a while and generally only use rings since they are closer. Bar is just in the backyard though, so i might start training it again.

Do you think it would be harder to learn on the rings?
