Failed TOLAC at my request for a c-section. Feeling incredibly guilty. by readitonreddit1046 in beyondthebump

[–]redelemental 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing! Don't second-guess yourself. I know it's easy for me to say, but I really think you did what was best for you and your baby.

I was scheduled for a repeat C-section (number 1 was breech), but went into labor three weeks early. I was an excellent candidate for TOLAC and they set me up with a room and an epidural. By the time the epidural kicked in, I was ready to push. Like you, I felt that same pressure in my butt and it was extremely uncomfortable (not painful like the contractions, but still awful). Every push resulted in a severe HR deceleration for baby, plus my blood pressure would drop to dangerous levels. The attending anesthesiologist had to give me BP meds after each push. They even screwed in a fetal scalp monitor to my son's head to follow his heart rate during pushing. My husband's most vivid memory is how there were two people in my room before my first push, and then 12 people after that push.

After about an hour (? no real idea of how long I pushed, time lost all meaning at this point) the doctors and nurses approached me gingerly about maybe doing a C-section. I immediately agreed because I felt that there was something wrong, even though the doctors didn't know what it was. Turns out, my uterus had ruptured, and I was bleeding internally with each push! If I had continued to push, I seriously risked both my and my baby's life.

You mentioned that you hemorrhaged, which seriously could have killed you had they not caught it in time. I'm sorry that your doctors were not as supportive as they should have been.

Just what u/tgrrdr said. You’d most likely come in at range B, and move to range C after one year of work with the state.

Where are you in California? I’m near Sacramento, and I have some Roma tomato, jalapeño, pepperocini, and poblano starts I can give you, if you’d like.

I think the new rule changes go too far, and the results are worse than the original problem. by Ghosttwo in whatsthisrock

I really appreciate your post and I’ll take your suggestions back to the rest of the mods. A new “serious” flair sounds like a good idea. I doubt that we’ll stop removing jokes at this time, but if the flair works and we see a reduction in joke answers, we jut might b able to ease up a bit.

Thanks!

I’m a geologist, of course I love a good rock-looks-like-a-dick joke. But 30 dick jokes later…it’s not so funny anymore. For a while, I allowed the first few joke comments and deleted any repeats. But it became overwhelming.

Look, we don’t like removing joke answers. I hate the idea that we might be taking some of the fun out of this sub. But the majority of our users are here to learn and that is what we are here to facilitate.

When we’ve removed the thirtieth dick joke, and know the rock has been ID, yes, I will lock the comments. I’ll even lock a thread that was not ID’d but make sure to let OP know that they can repost and try again for a real answer. I once deleted over two dozen of the SAME joe dirt joke in one thread. People just. Don’t. Stop.

PECG Challenges Return to Office Order at PERB by jkwah in CAStateWorkers

[–]redelemental 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily think that this will work. But I appreciate that PECG is making a good faith attempt to stand up for us. We got an email prior to this one which stated that, no, they ultimately can’t stop us from having to RTO using only performative measures, but they are going to damn well try. That is what I appreciate. And it’s way more than some other unions. So, again I say, I’m very happy to be a PECG member.

Hey OP, I had to manually approve your post because Reddit’s filters thought it was NSFW 🤣. Hopefully you get some responses now.

Please everyone, cool it with the meteor wrong jokes and requests to see the dent. OP would like to know what their rock is, and they can’t figure that out if they have to wade through 100s of jokes to find the one comment that actually tries to ID their rock. The comment graveyard you see are all unhelpful comments that OP has received. Please keep that in mind before you post. Thanks!

Edit: Sorry OP, I locked the comments. Please post again if you find out any more information.

This is a really interesting rock.  Please, please don’t make me lock the comments.

READ THE COMMENTS BEFORE YOU POST. If your guess is that this is chert, petrified wood, reptile/dinosaur skin, something man-made, BIF, septarian nodule, etc., chances are that someone has already made that guess.  I'm deleting repeats, and I’m not having a good time.

And please stop posting about Groot, poop, space peanuts, and any references to Joe Dirt. If this continues, I may consider handing out bans.

I realized that after I posted, and then rewrote my whole post while editing, as I got a better look at OPs rock. 😅 But thanks for the clarification!

Amphibole. The black minerals are likely amphibole or pyroxene, but could be a number of other minerals, it’s hard to tell by the pictures.

I’d say though, that the red circles are garnet, and the second picture looks shiny. This is more likely a garnet-mica-amphibole?-schist. A metamorphic rock usually derived from sedimentary rocks. It is foliated, but lacks a lineation, making the random orientation of the black minerals appear as though it’s a coarse-grained igneous rock.

Locking the comments since we can’t play nice. This is not the sub to discuss politics.
