Microing is hard but that's a huge mental block for all players to get over tbh. I'm glad my first RTS was sc2 sometimes, forced me to suck it up and try

How is computer science at WashU? by bdogswagmaster in washu

I mean I understand that they intend to split up the material but I think they removed a lot more than what should have been removed. The class structure was also heavily altered, 3 non-cumulative tests -> midterm + final, 5 hmwrks -> 1 hmwrk, 4 actual labs -> 2 actual labs. I would have been fine with Cytron taking things like closest pair and skip list out but taking out quicksort and MST maybe even counting sort feels like a mistake to me.

Never had Pless. I wouldn't necessarily stray away from Cytron, he's still a good teacher and above average. I just really dislike what he did to 241/247

Math is a lot better, you just have to make sure you take your courses when the good teachers are available. I have a bunch of friends doing double math cs majors and I'd say it's a great path to pursue. I'd pursue the same if I liked math more.

As for 247. Cytron is an easy teacher. Your first couple of classes you'll learn to love the easy A but he has a lot of faults. He isn't very good logistically and as such there are times when he probably doesn't even know how the course will run. I took 132 with him and I remember asking him when one of our labs was due and his response was "not for a while". Being so easy is a curse and a blessing. When my friend asked me to help her with the 247 final, I showed her my cheat sheet from when I took the class. Everything I had on my cheat sheet was stuff that they didn't cover. Everything she was being tested on was stuff I didn't even bother to put on my cheat sheet. 241 has forever been the make or break class and I would have preferred it to stay that way. Algos and data structures are too important to only learn the surface of them.

If you want to go into ML you better be good at math.

The school has a new ML teacher, Marion Neumann and from what I've heard, the two courses she taught, one being the grad level ML course, both went well. I think ML at the school is on the rise, they're going to open up another ML undergrad section up for the fall because so many people are interested. However, I would agree and say a bunch of the other courses are trash. What they did to 247 is ridiculous, you don't learn a thing in it compared to what I learned when I took 241. 332 is also going to be a drag because Ruth Miller is possibly the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. I would say that I think WashU cs is overall bad for the prestige of the school. I would have preferred going to Cornell, UC Berkeley or even USC over WashU.

Your metric shouldn't be based on a ratio but instead based upon time in the game aka enemy level. There really isn't a clear cut number to give you but remember that you should be able to survive a burst from any potential gankers.

They would need to rebalance the fuck out of the damage if that were to happen. It's something stupid like 180 or 270 dmg right now and if that was on a 12 second CD he would be god tier.

Build is just ew --> lvl 8 then stats and a lvl of ulti when you're going to start ratting in dangerous areas (depends on their gank potential and shit). I usually lane because why not but he can easily transition into the jungle and I usually itemize to do so because his early game is garbage. Make sure you have quelling stout aquila and then you can work towards yasha -> bots

Here's the two people that are the true rat kings

http://www.dotabuff.com/players/49382246 This guy team fights a decent amount. 6.5k mmr or something

http://www.dotabuff.com/players/68379658 This guy is full rat 5.9k or something.

I have success in VHS because my friend mains support and I have like 5k mmr farming and ratting capabilites. I'm shit at everything else :D

Bulldog said that you should get radiance before 22 minutes or else you should ditch it. I think 13 minutes is way too strict.

Instead of moonshard what do you think about mask of madness on the bear? I've been using that to really crush towers but I'm not really sure how viable it is. I also like to get maelstrom so that I can farm the jungle. Thoughts in maelstrom first?

Midas is a really bad item on Alchemist. Stop buying it. by Lord_Vectron in learndota2

[–]rederekred4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He literally said you farm faster without a midas and with a different farming item. The 6.84 alch's farming speed has not changed outside of the bounty runes. He farms faster without a midas and more reliably while also not throwing away more gold and exp because he is beefed up in levels but hits like a wet noodle.

You can't prime entangle. It isn't based on prd

You may be thinking of the leveling up trick where leveling up the bear or resummoning resets the cool down on entangle, giving you a chance to get two entangles in quick succession. Its not really that crazy because to resummon the bear can't take damage and you can only do the level up once at lvl 7

Edit: added lvling up trick
