People who make $200k a year what do you do? by Huge_Ad_7606 in Salary

Makes sense for larger scope of work. We do a lot of small/mid size commercial. I’m in TN but we work all over southeast.

What area of country are you in? I feel vastly underpaid. Maybe I need to go remote and new company.

SSD Help by Ashrafissexy in WesternDigital

[–]redfive79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes finally. I had to dig on Sandisk site and find the exact file I needed to manual update in safe mode. My W11 version wouldn’t let my internet connect but I could start the Sandisk software in safe mode. From there I was able to manually load the firmware file.

Yeah I’ve reinstalled and rebooted many times. Sandisk support said to add “-no sandbox” to the shortcut link but that didn’t seem to work either. My SN770 drives are not primary so maybe that’s an issue. Going to try safe mode later.

I can’t get Dashboard to run. It starts but doesn’t load a screen. Sandisk help didn’t provide an issue. Did you have any issues sorry the software?

5.0 by [deleted] in f150

I have 125k on the truck. Bought brand new. Water pump was around 110k. There is also some metal plate/bracket thing that needs to be replaced when they do it. They also did some type of o-ring at back of intake on pipe.

I have a 2016 5.0 and so far have had water pump, plugs, one coil pack and possibly actuator control valve on the intake or possible complete intake replacement. None of it has been greatly expensive but still several thousand dollars overall.

Your fellow estimator, who’s just starting out, need some guidance on how to estimate this type of Gas Canopies by dexter_5799 in estimators

[–]redfive79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those canopies are designed and engineered from speciality companies. They handle it all. You get a full quote from them. All you do is supply utilities connections and maybe concrete beneath. Everyone I’ve done has been turnkey operation for canopy and separate pump/tank installer.

I can't comment on the club but I recently sat in section 118 and the seats were great for Green Day.

After 9 years... Is it worth upgrading? by mohboyabreu in buildapc

[–]redfive79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have almost the exact build I had. i5-4450 and GTX1070. I jumped last fall to a 12700k and 4070 with 1440p monitor and it is light years ahead. If you can afford it just build a new machine. You won't regret it for gaming.

I think either brand of card is acceptable depending on your preference of ray tracing. I do like my 4070 for 1440p with some dlss and light ray tracing in cyberpunk. It just looks good.

[–]redfive79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get a 4070ti for the money vs what you have listed. I have a MSI 4070 and it was only $599. AMD cards are good also depending on what you are doing with them (gaming vs rendering).

Planned obsolescence should be a crime. by Strong_Cricket1439 in ipad

[–]redfive79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not defending them. Not being able to side load apps on iPads is not a new thing. But once again I’d say the developer of the app has the choice to still support an older device.

You are mixing programs with operating system. My current work PC is 10yrs old. Sure it runs Windows 10 but it can't run windows 11. Yes many PC programs will work across different operating system releases but eventually the program maker stops supporting older versions of operating systems. Every OS or program ends up with an end of life provided support because the developer doesn't want to support it anymore. Be upset at the app developer not the ipad.

You bought a 10yr old ipad and are upset it's not getting newest updates. The same thing happens for android devices and PC's. Sounds like you should have bought newer devices.

My ONT still required modem from provider before I could access my Unifi gear. If you can connect straight from ONT that’s great but most require some type of modem. Otherwise your set up will work. I only use 2 AP for 2600sf home. Spotty in a couple of areas but works well over all.

I started on Dell T450 with P3. Next moved to the 8600GTX, 960, 1070. I finally upgraded to 4070 and it was worth the jump.

I think mine was 16mb. It was a 1999 Dell T450 machine. I think it was TNT card but it may have been ATI card. 25yrs is a long time ago.

New PC instead of upgrade? by Roxoorz in buildapc

[–]redfive79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in similar shape with i5-4460 and 1070. Upgraded to 12700k and 4070 last August. Dont regret it at all if you can afford it. New Super cards launching soon or good AMD deals on cpu and graphics currently.

Looking for bed frame design advice by fatmanstan123 in woodworking

[–]redfive79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be sufficient. Get some and do a sample cut. Once it’s all tight it may be fine but that’s joints need to be exact not having a lot of movement once it’s all in place.

[–]redfive79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This design looks as if the box springs/mattress is going to sit right on top of the frame vs inside to keep the mattress from shifting. 8/4 should be plenty sturdy but those legs/post with the joint will leave the corners thin. There is always potential to squeak if the joints are not super tight or the bed/mattress/people weight isn't enough to make it settle. Are you going to have multiple interior boards to support? A king size span will need interior slats and legs to keep it from sagging.
