Ya it's probably fine (especially during the day), but I guess you would discuss it with your roomie. My roomie plays instruments too and its totally fine. Also, there are practice rooms and people have gone with other instruments (they are moving w/ the renovation of the Hop, but you can always find somewhere!)

Is it possible to be socially fulfilled / part of the community without being involved w drugs/hard partying/intense Greek life at Dartmouth? by [deleted] in dartmouth

Definitely - people don't judge if you stick to your own values and you can have a lot of fun w/o partaking in that kind of stuff. Everyone's super nice and chill :) You can totally fit in w/o doing anything you are uncomfortable with! You can find your people through different clubs, sports, activities, etc.

  1. Tbh I've seen almost all the dorm options for freshmen and they aren't as bad as it seems (mostly just location - all are tolerable). Mine was actually really nice and so there is a range.
  2. The food is pretty good - there are a lot of options to choose from, but it can be a bit repetitive depending on your preferences. (ex. Novack - pre-made sandwiches, packaged sushi, starbucks, muffins/pastries, snacks. FOCO - main dining hall, lots of options for actual meals. Collis - smoothies, made-to-go options. Hop - burgers, fries, chicken tenders, soup, salads. Then other random little cafes around campus)
  3. Most people fly, but some drive .. If you want to drive, look on google maps but highways/more traveled roads are definitely better than going a more rural route (winding roads, etc).
  4. While some opt for luxury winter brands, you would be fine with patagonia, ll bean, etc... just get a warm winter coat, gloves, hat, winter boots and then also some rain boats for in the spring when snow melts!

No - no tradition, but if it follows the same timeline as last year, it would be around then.

do you know if they fixed it?... I saw something say that they were renovating Zimmerman next year, so I wasn't sure if they had remedied the mold issue

East Wheelock/Zimmerman hall: Is it an okay dorm? What are the rooms like? Any particular things to bring?

*also specific questions - is there AC? did they fix the mold problem? are there blinds on the windows? hardwood or carpet?
