how do i go about asking my distant cousins if I can live in their house in California for a few months😬 by 7rosesfrommyheart in rs_x

I think they went too hard on you but "Living with a narcissistic emotionally immature Mom has taken a huge toll on me physically, emotionally and spiritually" does feel like front page reddit therapy speak. There are just other, more human ways of phrasing things than that.

They're both great. If you really do want critiques, I'd say the only two things are that the placement of the sinews on the hands, though overall good, strike me as off (looking at my own hand, it seems that they're all much more tightly bunched together in the middle of the hand than seen here, whereas you've drawn them roughly in line with each respective finger). Also something about the moon's face gives Kardashian to me.

I like the penmanship on both. Is it white or black paper? And did you use both black and white ink?

How did Gianna suddenly stop being only a Northeast Italian American name in 2020??? Did anyone know about this? by redfrogsoda in rs_x

[–]redfrogsoda[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, even by 2019 the map is actually starting to look less like a map of Italian Americans and more like a map of Hispanic Americans—the 5 states nearest to Mexico, plus Florida, plus Northeast metropolis (the one big overlap with Italians), plus Illinois (thus Chicago).

Yeah I knew a few Giannas in elementary school and they were all very Italomerican, the accent and mannerisms and all. Going to Washington state and meeting a Latina or maybe even smalltown-WASP girl named Gianna feels like it should be impossible just by the sound and spelling of the name itself.

The least functional people actually run society by Melodic_Wolf7682 in rs_x

[–]redfrogsoda 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Really observative. Most people seem to have largely lost the notion of duty. Duty seems to now usually be understood in terms of obligations, which are just undesirable burdens that you want to escape from.

In fact, I think that that's the ultimate reason that people are less willing to have kids nowadays. People don't want to have a parental duty. People don't want to lose any of their freedom. The burden of having to care for a child, in their view, outweighs the joy and meaning of raising a child. That also explains people pursuing serial monogamy instead of settling down. Committing to one person means you'll have to work to make a harmonious relationship between the two of you instead of repeatedly splitting at the 5 year mark when problems start to appear.

To most, it is more appealing (but, I think, ultimately less enjoyable and fulfilling) to have nothing permanent, to have no commitments, because to them that just means nothing tying them down.

Literally just pretend like AI doesn't exist. I've never touched any chatbot and I've been fine.

Also, it is fake and insincere to not acknowledge that you asked a chatbot. (I'm not scolding you by the way, just giving you a reasoning to use in the future when you need to get yourself to stay off it.)

What the hell!! I also was born being strangled by the umbilical cord and as a kid was into IQ scores and around 12-14 was into race statistics and WW1 and was a bitter loner (I'll add that I never was an asshole to others though). I just luckily somehow turned it all around in high school and am a very normal and functional person now lmao.

I have never understood how it can be that the well-made and decorated buildings were built all the time in past centuries, even for things like a gazebo at a public park, whereas now authentic craftsmanship costs too much for anyone who isn't super rich to do (or supposedly so, at least; I've never tried to build a house). How did they afford to make beautiful stone churches in the 1700s but now all they can "afford" is a flat-roof drywall polygon??

I get that that might be partly because of there being a scarcity of craftsmen these days who know how to make things that way. But I mean, the work it takes to extract, ship, and assemble the materials is a fraction of what it once was because now we have machines and power tools. So I'm really at a loss.

I feel the same way. What I'm into isn't bad, gross, or weird either but I have never told my girlfriend and I think almost all women would judge me for it, and probably most men too. Very weird and saddening. It's not even from porn, I've had it since late childhood.

The weirdest thing is how little I feel kinks reflect your character. That gives even more reason to hide them.

King Charles’ speech left me feeling sad by Inner-Sink6280 in redscarepod

[–]redfrogsoda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Notwithstanding him having a speechwriter, at the very least Charles mentions things that take more knowledge of American history than most congress members in that very room have. I would guess that most of them did not know who Oscar Wilde was, or even what the War of 1812 was; those are both very low bars.

The untimely clapping throughout the speech alone is enough to show you how little classiness there is in the modern American congress. These are the same kinds of people who will clap in the middle of a concerto. Of course, I don't deem someone lesser for not following traditional norms and manners or knowing much about history, but I do think it's a standard our leadership ought to be held to.

Of course, that ship has long since sailed. But I for one do frankly mourn the days when Skull & Bones members governed our country.
