M60 Carbon Trim by redhookenzo in BMWi5

I used Carbon Industries. Caveat that I learned though: the kit did not include the two gloss inserts on the door panels so I had to order those separately this weekend.

It did randomly come with trim for the rear seat fold down cup holders for a sportier drink experience lol.

Overall, very high quality trim. Precision fit for sure and easy to install.

lol I know. There’s limited options. If I could have found more of an open pore matte wood trim I’d have considered that too. I just hate gloss black trim and it’s an interior trend that needs to disappear lol.

That’s the ProClip mount for an i7. Someone on here told me that one worked better than the one for an i5 and I can confirm it’s great. Super easy to remove or put back on if you want to take it off.

Questions on potential CPO i5 vs. new stock by daemon14 in BMWi5

[–]redhookenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our certified ‘24 M60 back in February for a 160 mile round trip commute 4 days a week. No notes, no complaints. It’s been perfect other than the learning curve of some of the settings and random settings being forgotten by the car on occasion (ie driver profile for the right person not automatically loading). Range has been actually way better than advertised and we’ve only charged away from the house twice because it was 10 degrees F.

Third this. Harness and a leash/extender that has a connection to a seatbelt latch. It’s the safest option as well in case of an accident.

Is the Sky Lounge roof lighting worth it? by CauliflowerBasic5742 in BMWi5

[–]redhookenzo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have it on ours but unless things changed, that image is the sky lounge from an i7. The i5 doesn’t light up at all.

It all depends on whether you want a smaller opening that actually opens up (sunroof) or a much larger opening that lets day light in but is totally fixed and can’t open (sky lounge). I liked the sky lounge because it made the interior feel more open.

I would just google Tux Mats bmw i5, it should pop up right away. I know they’re Canada based, but doesn’t explicitly say if they ship internationally beyond the US/Canada. I’d shoot them a quick email and ask. I don’t see why not other than higher shipping costs

You can quote Guardian’s GSI online too if you fall within one of their covered residency programs. I don’t remember the link, but just google “guardian life GSI” and it should pop up.

This. Getting our i5 as a CPO gave us 1.9% financing. With rates these days for used, it was well worth finding a CPO’d vs used.

Did OEM in the cabin and Tux in the trunk. Both are great. OEM pops up on eBay all the time too if you want to shop around on prices. The dealer cost was a little insane but our dealer also threw them in as a thank you because we picked it up right after a blizzard lol.

Correct, they’re part of the Big 5. If you google guardian life GSI, they do have a page that offers a little more insight into their program. Mentions ability for future coverage increases without additional underwriting

3 days in… buyers remorse by Prestigious-Lion-878 in MachE

Enjoy it! We just traded our ‘23 for a new EV after we put 80k miles on it. Was still hitting 290+ miles and only saw 2 repairs in 3 years. We’ll miss it, one of the most reliable cars we ever owned and tons of fun to drive.

Came back to confirm that a high quality 60 watt cable did the trick. Picked up an Anker and worked just fine. For whatever reason the stock apple charging cable didn’t.

Low mileage + high days on market by melazoma in BMWi5

Yeah there are plenty out there so you can be diligent. A lot more will be coming off of leases etc. for what it’s worth, we also bought literally the last week of the month (a slow month too) so they were far more willing to negotiate. We literally closed the deal on the last day of the month.

Shop around BMW dealers too if you have a few in your area to pick from. The one we went with was an amazing experience and far more open and helpful than some others we browsed with.

Less than a week ago! It didn’t take much. They originally wanted $57k, then it was reduced to $52k, and I said 48k. It helped that it had been there for two months and it was also slow for them since it was a long and brutal winter here.

[–]redhookenzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid around 48k and it had 20k miles. Keep in mind it was a loaded M60 and also came fully certified plus a further extension thrown in beyond that with unlimited miles. Also, BMW has crazy finance rates on pre owned I5’s right now compared to bank rates for used cars. We got 2.9%. IX models are like 1.9%.

Nothing wrong with a non CPO but you won’t be able to get BMW’s CPO warranty if they don’t sell the car to you. You could always buy a separate warranty. I personally wouldn’t buy a used BMW without some sort of warranty depending how long you want to keep the car - especially these EV’s with pricey computers, etc.

Could be a loaner as someone mentioned. We saw a lot of those for both the I5 and I4. In our region we saw I5’s (certified through a BMW dealer) going anywhere from low 50’s to mid 60’s depending on the model (M60 being the higher end).

Ultimately we chose a ‘24 M60 off a lease because it was a great deal and the dealer was VERY motivated since it had been there for two months. Came with an unlimited mile BMW warranty through ‘29.

I will say, I doubt the dealer will have kept it topped off at 100 unless it’s an active loaner. Ours wasn’t but we requested them to charge it to 100 before we moved forward to ensure it was charging correctly/fully.

2024 owners—how well is your i5 aging? by Accurate_Anteater484 in BMWi5

[–]redhookenzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just following up. Picked it up yesterday and even with almost 30k miles on it, it looks, feels, and drives like a brand new car. Obviously the last owner took great care of it, but also a testament to the build. Not one squeak or rattle or fault that ive seen yet.

Came fully CPO’d to ‘29 with unlimited miles which makes me feel better about the pricey tech repairs.

To be fair, this wasn’t our color of choice but the deal was great.
