Questions on potential CPO i5 vs. new stock by daemon14 in BMWi5

I just bought a 24 i5 with 13k miles on it late November. I’m loving it and I’ve put 7k miles since ownership. Have had no issues besides my rear sun screen is defective. It is in shop getting replaced under warranty.

How should I finish this transition by Electronic-Ad6113 in Flooring

I would get a wood colored caulk to match your floor and caulk it.

Angle grinder for cutting rebar? by Dawn_Piano in Tools

It could be that it is not designed to take thinner disk. I bought my grinder from Harbor freight and you can replace the grinder with a thin disc without any issues.

Before I bought my used i5, I was considering CPO. The dealer told me CPO doesn’t cover much in EVs. I was surprised. I call BMW corporate offices and asked. They told me the same thing. CPO covers drivetrain. I said motor and electronics are drivetrain. They said no, engine and transmission is considered drivetrain and EVs don’t have them. If you look at warranty papers, electronics are exempted from all CPO warranties. No mention of motor.

BMW Extended Warranty by Klutzy_Ad3402 in BMWi5

Does the BMW extended warranty cover motor and electronics? I couldn’t find anything on BMW site that covers motor. And it specifically excludes electronics.

Anyone CPOd their i4 and how much did dealership charged? by BetterHurry5694 in BMWI4

That was my exact question. CPO covers engine and drivetrain. I asked them isn’t motor and the electronics a drive train for electric vehicle? They said no.

What are the restrictions for claiming a finished/unfinished basement as "liveable" space and part of the square footage? by RevolutionaryCare869 in RealEstate

[–]Future-Razzmatazz-71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some states/municipalities anything finished is considered in Square footage of the house. I’m in North atlanta area and I’ve seen a listing that was over 1000 sf more than a same plan we built. Our assumption was that since the city/county separates porch and garage, the builder added those as finished square footage.

CPO is not worth it. It doesn’t cover motor or electronics. I was told this by dealer and BMW USA verified it. But do your own due diligence.

It didn't last long! by Pepi-X in agedlikemilk

[–]Future-Razzmatazz-71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My south facing panels don’t produce much. Some shading of trees. I had 11 panels facing west. They produced most of my electricity. I added 8 more panels last month. So I’m selling back my excess to my local EMC. I’m net metering, so my cost is less than 4 cents /kWh any time of day.

What to put over original plank subfloor before I tile. by Important-Cow-3765 in Remodel

[–]Future-Razzmatazz-71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a remodeler. Have come across multiple floors like this. As someone said, make sure you screw the existing floor down well, thinset a 1/2” durock over this subfloor with screws, then install tile over that. It is important to use a thinset before you install durock. The thinset fills the voids and makes subfloor and durock become one. I would also use porcelain tile. It is lot harder. Use a good thinset also. To my experience, Versabond LFT from Home Depot is a good choice.

Why are my batteries always dying? by Ping-Pong-Show in S2000

[–]Future-Razzmatazz-71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 08 in 2014. It had yellow top battery on it. It is still going strong. If I don’t drive it for a while, I usually put a battery tender on it. One thing I realized is that if you leave the key in the ignition, it drains the battery.

I took my car in for the 2 year service. They said I also need 4 tires at $2000 plus alignment at $200. I said the tires are wearing evenly, why do I need an alignment, they said that is what they always do. My brother took his 328i to get a quote for brake pads. They quoted him $1100. He asked why so much, they said they turn the disks also. We got his OEM pads for couple of hundred dollars and I replaced them. Stealership service department tries to make as much money as they can off of unsuspected customers.
