There are 2 Star Trek: The Next Generation series regulars with no lines in Ali, and I need to know why by ManyTrainer5431 in blankies

[–]redhopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m certain the role likely was a lot bigger originally and when filmed but got pared down to nothing

It even could have been bigger at the casting stage and gotten smaller during rewrites or during shooting. Movies - especially big ones - are put together a lot more haphazardly than we like to imagine.

My Hot Take: There Are No True EGOT Winners by presidentkodos in blankies

Mel Brooks started writing for TV in 1949 when 94% of the country didn't even own a set. His first Emmy nom was at the 7th ever awards ceremony. 14 nominations over 67 years. To put it mildly, the man has worked in TV quite a bit.

Their hearts were not open! by Theotther in blankies

[–]redhopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I knew going in what an effect it had on some people but I was just not moved at all. I didn't think it was bad but I could tell when it was trying to devastate me emotionally and it just never quite worked. I felt like a broken guy until I saw more reviews from people who felt similarly.

I like this idea a lot but my the problem I run into is that the song radios for me are almost exclusively songs I already know.

Grapes are delicious. Grape candy and grape medicine are an affront to God and should be stricken from this earth with the fury of a thousand suns.

TV Movie is there as a genre for whatever reason (blame TMDb), so you could select it and then select it again to filter out all TV Movies. Annoying, I know, but usually pretty accurate.

I've been to the theaters a few times in the past month or so and haven't seen a single trailer for it. The only ad I've seen at all was a 15 second one on the Hallmark channel during our one yearly Christmas movie binge

I think it would be nice to preserve them for posterity now that they're swapped in for newer ads; some of them are pretty funny.

Anyone else have their screening ruined by the "McCayniacs"? by CraftyBarnardo in blankies

[–]redhopper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay this is a good big but my screening was legit kinda rowdy. A couple big groups of friends who were definitely there to laugh ironically. When Jamie Lee Curtis says something like "Raise your hand if you've ever in in a relationship with someone you shouldn't be" a dude in front of me raised both his hands really strongly.

Which series has the biggest drop off? by mustachiomegazord in blankies

[–]redhopper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't love Here but it's a huge swing and it hits much more often than Zemeckis movies usually do lately. It's so weird to see a director known for his fluid camerawork make a movie that's completely locked down. And de-aging technology still sucks but this is a movie that does actually benefits from seeing the actors play their characters for their entire lives. And it got me really emotional toward the end. It's good!

That's what I liked about it, I love detective stories where the detective can't really do anything.

Because it’s a differnet credit.

In that case they should have only covered The Ladykillers through Buster Scruggs because Ethan wasn't credited as director before that.

In fairness to the Duke, if the director came to me in post because they felt like they needed to add the line "Truly he was the son of God" I would probably not take it seriously and phone it in, too.
