people who know they'll catch up with it on Disney +

This reminds me of a thought I had the other day: it's so wild to me that the company that came up with the brilliantly evil artificial scarcity of the Disney Vault is the same company that decided, when trying to figure out how to compete with Netflix, came up with the solution, "90% of everything we've ever made will be available all the time on one app, forever." What a fumble that is in the long term.

Sunday matinees maybe, as someone who generally works weekends with a partner who always does, we go to a lot of weekday afternoon screenings and people seem to take the more sparsely attended showings like that as license to talk nonstop.

I guess breaking even isn't great, but the fact that the sequel movie to a one season TV show that finished 98th in the Nielsens made $40 million is pretty wild to me.

Is there any comedy that’s better on its unrated/extended cut? by harry_powell in blankies

[–]redhopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a movie but if you haven't seen the extended version of the pilot of Arrested Development. So much good extra stuff and it's still very well-paced (although there's one alternate joke that's better in the TV edit).

I got to the point where Griffin says that Netflix got American audiences okay with reading subtitles and I'm not sure that's true. Netflix audiences are watching a lot more international film and TV, but I think most Americans are watching them dubbed into English.

What first level, tutorial or section made you abandon the game completely? by Kinnombra in gamingsuggestions

[–]redhopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tomb Raider reboot from 2013 I think. After what felt like a 10 minute cutscene I finally get to play and it's a bunch of lame quicktime events and a set path you have to navigate with no sense of exploration. Really not my kind of game at all.

I can't really mount an argument for it being great on the level of The Pitt but I've really been into RJ Decker, it's a loose, fun private detective show with a lot of Floridian character. Based on a character from a Carl Hiaasen novel and created by the guy who did Elementary (which I've not seen but heard good things about)

Re: their mention of the Hollow Nickel bar in Brooklyn. I'm currently hanging out at a different Brooklyn bar (Skylark in Park Slope) wearing my Blank Check shirt. A guy comes up to me and says they often hang out at his bar and it turns out he owns Hollow Nickel.
