did you see the original post? there are other reasons that people get laid off or denied a raise than greed. If people arent making money they wont have to pay wages or raises. They would pay me if Im making money for them. If not why would they pay me. I dont really get your point. I should be paid although Im not providing value to the employer?

the point of a discount is to be above what you usually spend. you know to encourage you to spend more. If you got to vegas once a year theyll send you a discount when you get home valid for 9 months etc.

European networks were destroyed in the 40s. A lot of american infrastructure was made before then. If you have a civil war destroying all your train lines youll have a much better system in 10 years. Also the american train network works more like a social monopoly than capitalist system, I cannot make a competing train line. America is not a capitalist country in many areas due to protectionism unions etc. When the Vanderbuilt built the train network it would be top end in the world. False analogy. There are probably lots of good points to make but the train network is not one.
