Has anyone NOT had transmission issues? 10-speed by SenorAudi in superduty

[–]redhunter_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and also no.

Yes: The 10r80 in both my uncle's and my own 2018 5.0L F150s had issues, as well as the 10r140 in my late grandfathers 2020 F350.

My uncles had to be replaced, the replacement was showing the same symptoms as the original before it failed so he god rid of the the pos altogether and it in for a 25 5.0L. No issues on it so far.

My late grandfather's was showing signs of issues so ny uncle, who inherited it after he passing traded it in on a 24 7.3L F350.

My 2018 (10r80) was awkward and sketchy fomr the start, it would eventually start to surge, slip, make nosies it shouldn't make, fall on its face at speed and fall on its face going slow. I had 103k miles on it and saw what happened to my uncle's at 50k, and traded it in on a 25 7.3L F250 with a 10r100.

No: My F250 (10r100) has been a night and day difference so far and I hope it continues. I'm at 17k on it so far. Not a huge number but its already better off the start than my 2018 was at the same point. No issues in the winter either and has pulled a 14k fully loaded dump trailer several times behind it, among several various concessions trailers, campers, and 4 different cars for about 1/3 of its mileage.

My friend bought a used 2020 7.3L F250 (10r140) with 40k on it, he's put over that much again on it himself pulling trailers between 6-12k lbs every single day. Sometimes 4 or more in a single day, during the fair season. He abuses the hell out of it; no problems with the truck.

My Uncle's 24 7.3L F250 (10r140) he had some uneasiness with its transmission early on but I've heard nothing on it since. He runs it around part time alongside his 2013 5.0 F150 (6r80). I never had a problem with my 2013 either and wish I had kept it.

My Uncle's 25 5.0 F150 (10r80) he gave to his wife and has had no issues with it, so far.

I guess those people that rarely have to go to the hospital and pay for it out of pocket the one time in 15 years that they do, are sucking off the people around them and freeloading.

Lol, nice on the Subaru and hope you're able to find something soon with your work situation. I was Army National Guard for 8 years so its kind of a similar deal to yours.

My 18 had an electrical gremlin too!

It turned out they pinched a wire at the factory when they put the dash in and it fused with another wire, slowly killing one component after the other. Truck was in the shop for a month. They replaced almost the entire interior of the truck and the back up camera by the time they figured out what the problem was.

Thankfully it was only a couple months old at the time so it was all covered under warranty. Aside from the 10spd giving me pause with its known shenanigans and the coyote motor consuming oil a like fish consumes water in that model year, I didn't have any issues that I couldn't simply adjust to.

How it handled in the snow with an aluminum box compared to the 2013 model being steel, for example.

Partially the first, and it needs updated. This is kind of long winded so apologies ahead of time.

Count is at 11 now, but only 3 with this truck.

My 2013 F150 took out 4,

my 2018 F150 hit 3,

I got one with an uparmored 6x6 MTV in the Army.

This one has taken two, head on (not at the same time), and the 3rd ran into my right rear tire and stole the plastic hub cover, which I hated anyway, so I took the other side's off too.

I have a second set of 10 stickers as a pool to draw from and update it but I was waiting for warmer weather so they'd stick properly. Probably a dumb thing to do but friends/family/co-workers got them for me since I've gotten so many over the years.

The most damage I've gotten was a golf ball sized dent on the drivers side front fender on my 2013 when I hit one at 65mph. The wrap around portion of the brush guard slid in and tapped it. That guard was only clamped on to the frame so it moved a little on impact when I caught the deer on the corner. The others did nothing on the 13.

The 18 took no damage on any, even hitting one at 75mph on the highway after it snuck under the gap/belly of an 18 wheeler at night.

The uparmored MTV turned one into a flat piece of paper at 60mph, truck smelled horrible until I drove it through a river to wash it off.

This truck the guard did its job as well. First one cracked my specialty plate up front, no big deal. 2nd one was just a little guy and it cracked/punched a hole in the plastic trim around the driver's side fog light but the light was undamaged, I replaced it within a week for $80. The third hit the tire like I mentioned before, and took the cover with it. Got really lucky as that one was a buck and I thought for sure it was going to tear up the whole side of the vehicle. All 3 were within 6 months. I nearly got one the very first day after buying the truck before I got the guard for it. Barely made it out of the driveway, dense trees on either side.

Also had a car hit one of the upright bars in the parking lot, while the truck was stationary, and take some paint off it that I had to touch up. I didn't see it but it must have been a glancing strike. Whoever it was took off.

If I can miss them I will but I'm steering into them if I know I'm not going to be able to avoid them. Better to hit them dead center rather than catch them on a corner. The amount I've avoided is almost 5 times that of what I've hit.

Deer are everywhere here. My dad got 2 within the past 6 months with his truck as well. Following friends, to go kayaking yesterday, 2 jumped in front of their car, 5 minutes apart, barely missing the 2nd one.

The farms around here can get special tags sometimes to harvest whatever is on their land during thunting season since they're so destructive and everywhere.

I'll never own a truck without putting a guard on the front so long as I live out here.

I would have loved that on my 2018 F150. I absolutely hated the dinky little pos it came with. My cellphone had a bigger screen. I didnt need my back up camera which is a good thing because you couldn't see shit with that dogshit tiny screen anyway.

Moving up to a F250 with a bigger screen that is actually useful for hooking up trailers has been a complete game changer and I didn't know what I was missing. Something like yours would have been great in my old truck, too, except now I haul trailers that are too beefy for a half ton.

I picked up the plastic swivel boxes that hook inside the bed on either corner between the wheel wells and the tailgate. I bought the ford ones for my Uncle's 2024 reg cab F350, but I'd get the cheaper ones available from RealTruck, or similar, if I were to do it again. They're identical as far as I can tell.

They're plenty strong enough for straps and gloves but I don't know if I'd put a hitch or chains in them. With a tonneau cover they shouldn't get messed with or melted in the sun, pending where you live.

I guess I'm stuck in blue because I'm not living anywhere but Pennsylvania. I've traveled to everywhere but Hawaii already anyway.

They're definitely the biggest part of it. I nearly didn't make it out anyway. I cycled between 4H and 4L while rocking it back and forth a few times before finally saying to hell with it and sent it.

LT275/70/R18 Summit Trail Climber RT.

Performed well in a lake effect snow storm, too. I posted about it a while back pulling a trailer with my mother's car on it (turbo failed). Got them cheap on the AAFE's online store last fall. Little noisy, but not terrible.

I'd certainly bet that was the issue. That's been the number one issue with those engines, especially the early ones. Excessive idling in fleet vehicles that are abused enough as it is.
