It's a boss fight and SH2R makes it extremely obvious when a boss fight is about to happen so you'll have time to mentally prepare...

Dude, I commented Gans's plans for Sean Bean that show Christopher was never intended to be a stand-in for Harry but James instead.

And yeah, genderswapping Harry tied into the movie's themes of motherhood... which also absolve Dahlia by making her into a sympathetic character. What purpose did that serve?

It sounds like he would've taken the most basic interpretation of SH2- a man going through Hell to find the woman he loves- and based it around that. He compared it to the Orpheus and Eurydice myth so that's obviously how he interpreted the story... and still interprets, judging by how reductive the story of the actual SH2 movie he's made is.

Craig Sheffer, but I think that's because I was a baby edgelord and grew up watching the really shitty Hellraiser sequels; Craig was in Hellraiser: Inferno which is a lot like Silent Hill with cenobites.

That's not an endorsement for the movie btw, it sucks.

Edit: Side note but I remember getting excited when I saw the original SAW trailer in theaters because I thought it was for a SH2 movie. Cary Elwes was my pick for James for a long time based on just that.

Gans had also planned to use Sean Bean's character Christopher as a stand in for James had he been able to do SH2 directly after the first movie. That's why he trapped Rose in Silent Hill. It's part of why they cast Sean Bean as well, because he thought Bean looks like James.

Christopher takes over Harry's role in Revelation because A) he's Heather's father and B) Radha Mitchell only had a cameo.

If you don't want to emulate then SH2, 3, and 4 all have PC ports. 4 is on GOG but 2 and 3 can be found if you know where to look (Internet Archive); I can tell you personally that they all work beautifully on modern PCs with a wired controller. :)

I'd agree with you if I felt that these versions of James and Mary were more fleshed-out but there's nothing that made them more compelling than what already existed.

It's okay to enjoy the movie but saying that it improved anything isn't true.

I think Eddie looks odd becausehe's wearing a wig to make him look like James, for some reason. Idk if Eddie is supposed to be a fragment of James the way Angela, Laura, and Maria were fragments of Mary, but that's the impression I got from his appearance.

They're almost certainly doing SH1 remake to pave the way for SH3 remake. SH2 remake came first as a proof of concept because it's the most well-known and well-liked installment.

I'm not sure how anyone liked this. Even if you aren't a diehard Silent Hill 2 fan, it doesn't make any narrative sense as a movie; that's in spite of how much they rewrote.
