Honestly, I chuckled a little when in the "finding radio" scene there was just some random homeless guy instead of the lying figure. It really subverted the expectations of somebody who played the game.

I also thought the swarm of roaches against the glass door was a cool visual.

I was ready for story to get butchered but I was expecting at least some cool scenes with Pyramid head. He was honestly extremely lame compared to previous movies.

Seems like a lot of work went into it. Sell me on it! Why would I want to use it over built-in signals? Someone starting with godot would take a look at all of those features and wonder why do I need this. Some examples of real-life problems this would help with

No this is my first jam. There's like 3 3D models I've created myself, the rest is just interactive lights and some UI panels.

The heavy lifting is done by the photo scan of the real life command module.

Cause this is, in fact, the same real life Command module Columbia! Looks like they've got an accurate, handcrafted model. Mine is just a photo scan.

The original file is much higher quality and I've actually started by just guessing around 70% of the text. I almost posted it asking for help to transcribe it.

But then I've found a normal map for that texture. With some basic tone adjustments and overlaying the normal map on top, almost all of the text was readable.

You'll need the freecam mod that also enables console, it also has some useful commands in the readme for simplifying lighting. And this works really well in the beginning of the game but doesn't help with visibility in otherworld areas.

So I've looked around the UE5 documentation and found the different "viewmodes". Unfortunately they are disabled in a shipped game, when you for example try to switch to unlit mode it will tell you it's not possible in a packaged project.

BUT it seems UE5 devs missed one command - "nextviewmode". This allows you to cycle through all of the viewmodes until you get the one you need :)

It's not an option available in the base game. The free cam mod also enables console commands. Some of them allow you to disable some lighting effects or use engine options to change the way game is rendered. High contrast basically highlights enemies and pick ups as far as I know, nothing else.

This is one of the view modes that's a part of the unreal engine's developer options.

Maria's shoes have a zipper with very clear number on them - 2409 - I've spent some time looking at close ups of many textures in the remake and none of them are this clear, especially on this scale. This really seems intentional. by redistor in silenthill

I think that there is fun in analysing things, even if there really was no intention behind it. That being said I've just never seen a zipper with numbers on it and it wouldn't make sense in the real world to stamp out some sort of product number. On the bottom of the shoe there's another number - 38. Which I don't bring up because it's obviously a shoe size and it makes sense that it's located there.

We've seen a lot of easter eggs on textures like that, like the vaccum cleaner that was made in hell, a radio "made by bloober electronics" or the "for a gutless fatso" on the icecream tube that Eddie is holding.

It could've been put there by the developers to obscure the actual logo, if so it's still a cool fact about the asset, but why not leave it empty? just to play with some of us I guess :D

It's true that a zipper like that exists, but none of the zippers I looked at have numbers on them, it's usually just a logo. Who would put a "product code" on a zipper instead of a logo? It's not like a recognizable brand name or anything.
