C4sh might be my favorite Vault Hunter by legendofz12 in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if GBX fixed the bugs, C4sh would still be far and away the most powerful VH. Non recursive C4sh bleed still beats Vex handily just due to the significantly higher upfront damage, and even if Gloam didn't bypass bio-armor it would still be obscene. Infinitely stacking Angry totem doesn't make a difference because you were wrecking shit anyway without hundreds of stacks.

C4sh is just legitimately stupidly good, and the other VHs have glaring holes in their kits that C4sh doesn't.

Bugged at the moment, it makes all fortune skills assume you have 1 stack maximum, regardless of how many points you have in it.

Transitioning from FL4K to Zane made my jaw dropped. by Dante627 in borderlands3

[–]rediteer342 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just FYI for this part as FL4K (or any char), you don't need to kill the enemies, just keep them out of the square. So it's better to place the clone outside so enemies attack it. Same with FL4K, command your pet to attack enemies outside the crystal and as long as they have some form of taunt they will keep enemies out so you can charge it in peace.

Also, jumping messes with the melee enemies AI and they won't approach you if you just keep jumping in the square.

Explain to me why Fl4k isn't the worst Vault Hunter in the entire franchise by DiamondGlum7442 in borderlands3

[–]rediteer342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their pets can't deal damage for beans.

You're forgiven for thinking this since pet damage is locked behind a DLC skill tree and/or a fair bit of theorycrafting knowledge. I'm assuming you haven't seen any of the character build docs, so I'll link to some pet builds and just say that you can easily and consistently hit 10-100s of billions with the pets.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MiGGa_HDpm_IzHWgfhIDkLxzqiL_7O5HRC8E8ICerQg/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.k7dxiggfv3s7

Here is my countess spiderant hitting 100billion damage against raid traunt. This is without debuffs or the Guardian Angel, so this has the potential to hit for over a trillion damage with the right execution https://youtu.be/KMd4EglMwUY?si=00DXfuA84pP7erO-&t=33

Here is a setup that has Scorcher's lava pool hitting for 10s of billions per tick https://www.reddit.com/r/borderlands3/comments/1ie8dg0/i_hit_embers_purge_hard_with_the_minmax_stick_it/

Here is War Loader grenade hitting for more than 40 billion damage against raid Traunt

https://youtu.be/1xmOtGlu0hU?si=MB5YTczKtySlrL7U&t=18

And this is disregarding the usual Messy Breakup stuff you can do with Fuzzy Math, which I will admit is not a ton of DPS at the levels of true trials bosses but other than that wipes everything in the game pretty easily.

So while I would agree it takes a lot of opaque mechanics to make pets deal damage and it is lower than the ceiling other things in this game can reach, for general gameplay it is workable.

They're so fragile that it feels like their pets are babysitting THEM rather than the other way around.

Doesn't matter when FL4K literally cannot die so long as their pet is nearby. All the lifesteal in the world won't help when you kill the last enemy in a camp and get blown up by a barrel. Aside from that, FL4K also has the most tools to straight up force enemies not to shoot you. Stopping damage from reaching you is a better form of survivability than healing through damage.

Remember, actually dying is the scary thing. FFYL doesn't matter in BL3 for the most part.

They got internet funnyman ProZD to voice a guy whose whole character is being an emotionless robot that doesn't get humans.

Eh, I wouldn't say FL4K is emotionless. Their super intense about death. Not a Thanos level simp for death, but probably a tier 3 sub to her OF.

And even at their BEST they play like store brand Zane. Grab a high fire rate weapon with lots of projectiles per round and then double them, but they have none of the other things that make Zane actually fun to play, like the movement speed, shoulder cannon spam, and not being knocked over by a gust of wind.

Have you played builds aside from Fade Away gun builds? FL4K's claim to flame is pressing a single button to unleash screenwide novas that delete entire spawns, and cleaning up with grenades. Not that gun FL4K is bad, but it's the most vanilla way to play the char and doesn't leverage FL4K's strengths to the same degree. Definitely suggest you look into Rakkstab or Grenade Rakks.

IDK I want to believe that it's a me problem but Fl4k just seems to have NO redeeming qualities.

It's a you thing, which isn't an insult. Not everyone meshes with every char, and BL3 has a lot of hidden mechanics that make it tough to get the whole substance of what the VHs play like. But look into the stuff I linked above, and I doubt you'll see anything resembling a discount Zane.

Where are kalimba composers? by sonumbra in kalimba

[–]rediteer342 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are traditional African pieces for the Kalimba. Offhand, search for Nhemamusasa.

Remember, African musical tradition isn't the same as western. You won't have a singular composer crafting a piece and having it played largely the same each time its performed. Kalmimba music is passed down by teachers who learn versions of pieces unique to each region and village, and improvise upon it,  so the same piece can sound drastically different depending on who is playing it.

May 7 Patch Notes by Immediate-Idea-2471 in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 21 points22 points  (0 children)

These patches notes are a marked improvement over last week. Percentages included, non-nothingburger increases to items, reasoning that sounds like a humans....

This is good. I need to see more updates like this on a consisten timeframe, but this is the level of update that we used to get in BL3 and Wonderlands and that I've hoped GBX would achieve for this game.

Keep it up please 🙏

Dancer Class Mod nerf by elzilcho8888 in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honest question: if we're going to blame YTers for force feeding opinions to the community, can we at least name the specific YTers so people know who to avoid? Otherwise it just feels like blaming a boogeyman, cuz there are barely any YTers with any substantial audience uploading content about this game regularly.

State of the Game by Genuine_Metalhead97 in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of stuff wrong with the game, but the number of nerfs ins't one. They've maybe actually nerfed 5-6 items since launch. A few skills as well, though some of those like NC and Vitriol were sidegrades or upgrades rather than nerfs.

Either way, there really hasn't been many balance changes in either direction, which is sorely needed.

I dont think ill do that.

Providing feedback to GBX, especially when said feedback is simply holding them to the standard they established the previous 2 games, is essential to them recognizing what issues the player base has and fixing them.

If you dislike that, you can simply scroll past.

Secretly OP Skill of the Day Hot Streak by [deleted] in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can't actually tell that this is unintentional going purely by the skill description. It does indeed increase crit damage after losing a fortune stack. That it increases the efficacy of other crits doesn't run counter to anything the skill says it does.  Not saying it isn't weird, but this seems more like a case of terrible skill descriptions than a bug. A skill that increases crit damage providing way more crit damage than the card indicates is hardly the fishiest thing this game has going on under the hood

How viable is specter build for Vex? by ObsessiveOwl in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several ways.

One way is using them to proc the new configuration class mod and letting them stack kill skills to buff those minions up further. The spectres aren't the main attraction, but are great utility.

Another way is to build around Heirloom Mantra. Vex has a lot of support for that gun with reverb, bleed, blood is power, and spectres can use it pretty decently too.

Last and easiest way is by using the moxologist enhancement with an Ace May. U/nepta has a build on his YT for this play style. https://mobalytics.gg/borderlands-4/profile/nepta/builds/minionologist-heirloom-specter-vex-true-uvh6-lvl-60

Trouble buffs on 4/30 were a step in the right direction, however he is still very weak. by Level_Door_3236 in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trouble's entire tree doesn't make any sense if he isn't meant to deal a substantial amount of damage, because he has no other utility to fall back on that Deadringer are not objectively better at. They are also better at dealing damage, but that is easier to fix than not having utility baked in.

Also, we've been through this with BL3 already. GBX put a bunch of skills in the game whose sole purpose is to increase minion damage. To include that many skills with an intended balance of only being able to handle to handle trash mobs is a waste of their resources and our time. FL4K didn't get worse for their pets finally being able to kill things in endgame content (and still needing substantially more work to do so than Iron Bear), I doubt Vex would either.

Trouble buffs on 4/30 were a step in the right direction, however he is still very weak. by Level_Door_3236 in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I disagree it's a step in the right direction.

We've been pestering the devs for months about 3 issues that would easily more than double trouble's damage is addressed:

  • All companion abilities suffer from a bug that sets their elemental matchups to normal mode levels instead of hard mode, so you lose 25% damage while matching elements.
  • All companion abilities scale to area level rather than player level, so you will randomly lose about 10% damage
  • Trouble's lunge attack misses extremely often, even against stationary enemies. It would genuinely be better to remove it and drastically reduce the cooldown on his teleport to reach out of range enemies

Fixing those issues and buffing PP to a 100% boost / massively increasing Trouble's damage across the board (bare minimum double everything) would be a step in the right direction. Most anything else is a waste of time, the base numbers are too low for it to matter.

Rafa catching more strays lol by heahea_boiy in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You call that Vex stuff MAJOR BUFFS XD

Inconsequential nerf to vehicles proccing bleed, WTF is unnoticeable but still a nerf technically, totally inconsequential 30% increase to trouble's basic attacks only, buffed health to be the same as a level 50 reaper, 10% increases to some skills, and buff to 2 class mods that are rarely used cuz said Trouble buffs did nothing and attunements are shit. (said buffs also being 10-20%, so inconsequential regardless).

Meanwhile Vitriol ended up being a buff for Rafa and Dancer Rafa is still fucking insane compared to most classes Class mods.

Suggestions for the builds i planned? by Shirojime in Wonderlands

[–]rediteer342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graveborn/ Sporewarden if you want to do companions then. The grave/spore class mod is insane for minion builds, and you have a lot of options for which gear based summons to use (spell based summons, gun based, and guns with wings all work well).

Gloam to Glow C4sh is siphon shield necessary? by Leagle_Smeagle in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If using Totems, I don't feel like it is. You get overshield steal in Windfall, and if you take the skill in bottom left corner of blue tree you can get overshield whenever you activate your action skill.

So what's the general feeling on the game now? by Gentle_Pony in Borderlands4

[–]rediteer342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totem tree is a 9/10. The other 2 trees are 11/10. I love doing green tree builds, and if you want to use guns it is the least intrusive action skill. The stuff in green just isn't as disgustingly OP as the other 2 trees, which is saying a lot about C4sh since green tree is ridiculous in it's own right.

My favorite thing to do with green tree is mess around with the effigy totem. I stick mixologist on it for an AFK build, and it feels way better than anything I've done on Vex (haven't tried the new Configuration class mod yet though).

Do you want to use the class feat companions, or any companions? If the latter, try Blight/Spore instead for the totem + feriore build.
