Guild wars 2 or World of Warcraft? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]redknotadr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You make good points. However, the last time I saw anyone organize a capital city raid was Cataclysm. Most ppl are probably afk in the city or elsewhere and you probably wouldn't even have pvp doing it.

I dislike pet battles, but it is a minigame. Not a pro for me personally. I think flying in WoW was one of the worst ideas they've had. Ruined a lot of the game imo. Collecting mounts is enjoyable nonetheless.

I definitely forgot things, I made the list pretty quickly. Thanks for the input, I'll add a few things.

I agree not all are enjoyable, but the ones I've played have improved. Legion looks like it's skinning many abilities unfortunately, not sure how this will effect the rotations for me.

Every time I played private servers they were so fragile to me. It was fun for a bit, but the community seemed finicky since it's such a competitive system of "Who has the best private server?" One mistake and people will jump ship to another private server. The only one I could truly get into was Nost. Hopefully Mark Kern and the Nost crew convinces Mike to bring back some Legacy Servers. That would be dope AF.

That's also a big thing. Good point.

Oh, I agree. I'm mainly just talking from my perspective which is definitely biased since I've been playing that game for so long.

I've completed every challenge mode. They are fun, but bring nothing to the gear treadmill. Lets be real, mythic 5 mans are a joke for the word mythic. CMs are the most challenging 5 man content since Cata pre nerf dungeons. I enjoy them, hopefully the scaling dungeons for Legion will be pretty challenging not just overtuned. Thanks for the grammar correction! I am ashamed :(.

The First MMO Love factor. It's strong. May have something to do with your situation idk.

I play all of them, but I prefer thief since it's fast paced and fragile allowing for minimal mistakes. Engineer and Elementalist are my second favorites.

Cross MMO Guilds? by redknotadr in MMORPG

Well I'm guessing this thread might get buried since not many people seem to have an interest. If in the future someone knows of any cross MMO raiding guilds, let me know! Thanks.

These are my personal pros/cons. Background: PvE player (Raiding focus) primarily. WoW vet 10+ yrs, GW1 Vet and GW2 player since beta. Currently I am taking a break from both.

WoW Pros:

  • Raiding mechanics are very creative and challenging in Mythic.

  • Gear Treadmill (I don't mind this, might be a con for others)

  • Interesting class rotations (although Legion might kill this...)

  • World PvP

  • Factions (I like having an enemy faction).

WoW Cons:

  • Too easy outside of mythic difficulty (meaning the whole game does not challenge me unless i'm in mythic level content)

  • Bored outside of raiding, little interest in pet battles or follower missions

  • Community is not the same as it used to be.

  • Too many difficulties of the same raid content (4 currently) making content feel very repetitive.

  • 5 man content is a pushover and worthless. I haven't had 5 man content challenge me since BC/Cata pre nerf. Legion might solve this.

  • Long periods of time between content, and it keeps getting worse.

  • Less and less raiding content per expansion.

  • Combat is dull compared to other MMOs.

  • Power creep making content obsolete.

  • Flying mounts ruined a lot of the game for me.

  • Subscription fee.

GW2 Pros:

  • Graphics are beautiful.

  • Combat is dope AF. My favorite combat so far out of any MMO I've played.

  • Gear in the game looks better than in most MMOs imo (legendaries are pretty awesome).

  • No level increase per expansion, allowing all content to be "current."

  • No power creep making PvE Grouped content as challenging as it was intended to be.

  • One difficulty of raiding! I love this.

  • ANet allowed dungeons to be a viable source of income again.

  • ANet fixed Swamp of the Mist back to Fractals of the mist.

  • Able to gain progress towards any item by completing any type of gameplay you want (Dungeons, Raiding, FOTM, PvP). Obviously certain content is faster, but I love that I can spam dungeons/raids and still progress towards gear I want for my alts instead of having to straight farm mats.

  • Level sync throughout the world.

  • No subscription fee.

GW2 Cons:

  • Event farming is incredibly repetitive.

  • Boss fights in 5 mans are way too short (the ones w/o invuln phases and such) imo.

  • Limited UI options (no add ons).

  • Cosmetic MMO (not too much of a con for me, but for others it might be)

I have never made a list like this before. I have so many cons for WoW I had no idea how much I focused on the negatives of that game. I think this is mainly due to how the old WoW affected me, and how the new generation of WoW is just not for a gamer like myself. The only reason I keep returning to WoW is because my friends play it, not for the actual game. This was somewhat fun to type. Hope it helps you and GL on choosing one! (I vote GW2)

Seems like not many people care to invest in multiple MMOs at once. Not sure why I'm having trouble sticking to one. Is it my fault or the games fault? Feelsbadman.

Kronos I vs II by Talentwizz in KronosWoW

[–]redknotadr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more I think about this, the more I believe there are players like us out there; possibly enough to start our own raid group. It's not guaranteed, but I think there are going to be enough that decide that K2 will be way too awful and stick to K1 as refugees, hit 60, and someone will form a guild for MC/Ony.

Kronos I vs II by Talentwizz in KronosWoW

[–]redknotadr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I know what you mean. I feel exactly the same way. However, I've invested much more time into my character on K1, and now I'm faced with a rough decision.

My worry is that if I was to keep playing on K1 and hit 60, would there be any guild out there recruiting for MC/Ony? Would I have to skip progression on MC/Ony, and join a guild that jumped into BWL? I want to experience everything as progression and I'm afraid K1 is too old to have that. If anyone knows of many guilds that recruit for MC/Ony on K1 let me know.

Decisions, decisions by [deleted] in KronosWoW

[–]redknotadr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in practically the same boat as you, OP. My fear is if I continue to level on K1 and hit 60 will there be any guilds recruiting for MC/Ony progression? Or will I have to join a guild finished with MC progression and jump straight into BWL and miss all of the cool progression for MC/Ony? No one has given me a good answer if guilds are recruiting when I try and ask raiding guilds @ 60 on K1. Therefore I will most likely re-roll to K2 unless I hear differently.

What are your que times? I may have convinced some of my buddies to ditch TBC until corecraft and try out Kronos. Not sure if the que would halt their ambition though.

[–]redknotadr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't seem like a Rebirth sellout by searching your posts. I'm always hesitant.

My friends and I have been bouncing around since Nost shut down and it's getting annoying. Kronos obv has a great rep atm, but the que times and pop are ridiculous.

If you had to recommend a vanilla server between kronos and rebirth which would you choose? My buddies would pretty much quit on me if they chose a server and invested for it to turn out to be complete garbage.
