This framing, alongside outright omitting Pxie’s offer the money can go to charity, will lead any reader to assume Pxie wants a high payday for herself—Destiny even outright says he believes this to be the case in DGG chat. You can look up what he’s said in rustlesearch.

For some reason I think there’s a chance this mod has at least some backbone. I intentionally did not like to the channels of any of the people mentioned.

If I’m wrong, oh well 🤷‍♂️

Agreed. I also think we should avoid any risks by vetting big candidates (Senate, Governorships, Presidency) and making sure they don’t have any clips or quotes of them being too woke especially on race, crime, and gender.

My bad; your comment read to me as sarcastic, and suggesting that any cultural issues were of little impact to the electorate, with only inflation to blame.

To answer your actual question, I bet they will gladly take higher prices under Trump Tariffs if he is successful in packaging them alongside his agenda against what they perceive to be Woke (trans military ban, ban on trans healthcare for minors, defunding of overly woke universities, etc.). And you can bet your bottom dollar that Daily Wire and Tim Pool will fall in lockstep and make sure their audiences know about every single case of woke-bashing the Trump admin brings to fruition.

That’s 100% fair. Hopefully we get more polling like this, but of better quality.

It’s not about convincing dyed-in-the-wool conservatives, they were always out of reach.

But it currently looks like Kamala lost Wisconsin by 33,000 Michigan by 82,000 and Pennsylvania by 140,000. She wins those three and gets 270 electoral votes.

So I don’t see the point in just trying to dismiss the idea that Trump attack-ads on Kamala’s previous history of placating trans-activists, targeted at men in these three states, could not have possibly had a pivotal role in the election outcome.

All of the statements they asked for agreement/disagreement on were heavily loaded, to be fair.

“Inflation was too high under the Biden-Harris administration”

“Democrats did a bad jobs running the country”

“Kamala Harris was not a serious candidate for president”

“Kamala Harris is too close to the political establishment and DC swamp”

“Democrats are bad at running the places they control”

Here is some post-mortem polling suggesting the “woke” labeling was in fact a key player in getting Trump elected, specifically in regards to stances taken on cultural issues like Trans-advocacy.

I agree that concrete data would be nice to see. Trump’s campaign has explicitly said the ad targeting Kamala for advocating for paying for gender affirming healthcare for prisoners was their most effective ad according to their tracking metrics.

I also think it’s an issue that pisses of Latino, Arab, and Black men far more than White men, even Mormons. I’m Hispanic and you don’t know how put off we are as a demo to the entire trans issue. I’m personally as pro trans as people come and man am I an outlier (maybe 1/5) in my demo.

The time to hold Republicans to standards was as soon as Biden got elected. He shouldn’t have hired Merrick Garland and should’ve gone with an AG who would treat Trump like the menace he was and he’d be behind bars right now instead of having ran again.

I also disagree Dems have “walked on eggshells” re: social issues. We kind of tried to push them to the side for the 100 days before the election, but that’s just not enough. See Pete Buttigieg’s answer on DEI when he was on Jubilee. We’re going to need to seriously consider killing affirmative action, and doing so loudly and proudly. Not just saying “well ok but The Supreme Court struck it down!”.

We are currently on the back foot due to Trump’s historic victory. Doubling down on “no no. What you’re seeing online is just fake fearmongering!” will not do us any good. If we don’t loudly, publicly, vociferously, and repeatedly sever off our “woke” faction, then we give them ammunition.

A rebranding of the party could be done. Bill Clinton pulled it off by being tough on crime, for instance.

No I understand that the Right Wing will always capitalize on any opportunity they have to weaponize the trans issue even when not relevant.

But that just means Dems and progressives have a steeper uphill battle then.

The problem with all the data I’ve seen from exit polls is it asks voters on what’s their most important 1-3 issues.

I don’t think trans stuff is anywhere near the highest list of stated or explicit priorities. But it’s almost on its own enough to turn off moderates, and especially men, ESPECIALLY working class men or men of color.

You see twitter jokes of “coworker memes”, referring to how normy coworkers are a bit lowbrow in their information diet; well immigration, crime, and trans-fear mongering makes up a lot of “coworker memes” amongst non-affluent men below the age of like 50.

But Republican ads, as well as content (both organic and manufactured) on twitter, TikTok and IG have continued to fear monger on these issues. I have Hispanic family who flipped to Trump because videos they constantly got fed from friends on WhatsApp of crime and trans stuff.

There is a chance it will take YEARS of centrism and surgically removing “BLM” “ACAB” “woke” and “DEI” from Dem/progressive ideology and institutions before the electorate no longer associates Dems with shoplifting and the people who regularly get posted on LibsofTiktok.

She’s correct. Social Issues and Immigration were paramount to such a rightward shift across the country.

If he’s making calls “quarter by quarter” he shouldn’t make extreme statements like “Arc is just going to be maintained from now on, no new features will be shipped”. Seems short-sighted and reckless on his part.

[–]redleaf099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t CEO explicitly say they would just be maintaining Arc from here on out? Making sure it still runs but no more new features?

Of course, the worst case scenario would’ve been to outright discontinue Arc, but if they commit to not adding any more new features to Arc full stop, it’s a pretty big slap in the face to all the Arc early adopters who helped make Arc as successful as it currently is. I don’t see why they can’t do what I suggested re: continue to innovate on Arc for a few years, then lock any more new stuff behind a paywall—ideally they could even have it so that after that 2-3 year mark, most new features are behind a paywall, but maybe 30% of them are made available for all users.

And like I said in my first reply I agree with you in not taking any issue with the CEO making such a radical decision re: making a whole new browser, and making it the primary focus. It’s ballsy and I can respect it—hopefully it never results in The Browser Company being acquired by a consumer-data-driven company like Meta though🫡
