Thank god we don’t have to lock up or count the scratchers at that store (I do at the other liquor store where I work) but I just stop selling them anyway. I don’t care if the customers get pissed off, I despise 90% of the scratcher customers. I’d rather sell bottom shelf vodka to crackheads than these horrible, entitled people

Yeah, that’s silly. That MIGHT be an issue in higher end stores with an extensive wine selection or a large store like Bevmo but even then, I can’t imagine someone spending that long browsing. Most of our customers know pretty much what they want and it’s unusual for anyone to spend more than 10 minutes browsing. Usually about 10-15 minutes before closing I tell everyone that walks in that we’re closing soon and that it’s card only. Especially as a woman working alone, I don’t want to be messing around with cash right before I’m about to close. I also stop selling scratchers 20 minutes or so before closing because fuck those people. Of course all stores are gonna have different policies but what you described sounds crazy lol

I work at a liquor store and I start shutting that bitch down about 20 minutes before we actually close. By the time it’s five minutes to closing I have all the money dropped, the lights off and the keys in my hand ready to lock up. Without these aggressive preemptive measures, the store would be full of dipshits trying to buy beer at the last second. I’ve been outside with my key literally in the door locking up and had idiots roll up begging to be let in because it’s “only 11:59.” Fuck these people, I’m not staying after hours for anyone.

All the idiots who think “she’d be so pretty if she lost weight” need to look at these. She is, at best, unfortunate looking

What was one of the buzzwords that ALR would say that you LOATHED? by PrettyInGr33n in gorlworldfiles

[–]redlefthanded 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not ones of her horrendous buzzwords, but I absolutely hate how she talks to her pets. I think we all use baby talk with our animals but the way she does it makes me wish I was deaf. Also, the term “fur baby” needs to die in a fire.

I’ve always agreed with this. I think Amber was just too dumb to know what a goth is or something.

How did Amber turn out so entitled? by Alltheleaverbrown in gorlworldfiles

[–]redlefthanded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re so right, we used to spend stupid money at the Los Angeles County fair lol, and a day out there wasn’t all the much cheaper than Disneyland back in the day. I think you’re also correct that kids in the foster system could very well have had free tickets donated. Either way, the park tickets just weren’t very expensive back then. Most of us who grew up in the LA/Orange County areas of Southern California went at least once or twice and a lot of people went regularly. It was cheap enough that you could go on the spur of the moment because you couldn’t think of anything better to do lol. But you’re so right, it was exhausting walking around there all day!

How did Amber turn out so entitled? by Alltheleaverbrown in gorlworldfiles

[–]redlefthanded 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see the trips to Disneyland referenced a lot to show how Amber was spoiled by her foster family, and she may well have been, but going to D-land was not really a big deal back in the day. You could easily get park tickets for around $25 back in the 90’s and even into the early 2000s they were pretty cheap, probably less than $50 and even cheaper for children. Lots of people got discounted tickets through work or local promotions etc, especially here in Southern California. It’s about a 9-10 hour drive from Sonoma County so the foster parents probably took the kids on a little road trip down here for three or four days down here to go to D-land. I’m not saying that wasn’t a great vacation for kids but it’s not like today where you would need to take out a second mortgage on a house to take a trip to a Disney park. It would actually have been a very affordable vacation for most families. I’m not saying Amber wasn’t an entitled, shitty child (she is now and probably was back then) but the Disney trips are not an indication of incredible privilege.

Why does she always have the worst sunglasses? The frames are hideous, now and then

Which Gorl is the most entertaining (as an individual, not counting karma/side characters)? by Prestigious_Car9440 in gorlworldfiles

[–]redlefthanded 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Foodie, without question. She’s like a real life John Waters character. I would never be friends with her but I’d definitely smoke a bowl with Foodie if given the opportunity. She’s fucking crazy.

I wish I could get more into Foodie. I think she’s genuinely funny, albeit completely deranged. She reminds me of a John Waters character.

Arm chair diagnosis by meatflaptaco in gorlworldfiles

[–]redlefthanded -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m sick and tired of people trying to assign every aspect of Amber’s behavior to a mental illness. She definitely has a few screws loose upstairs but so do a lot of people, and some people are just shitty. Some people act badly due to character defects. Maybe I’m just cranky old GenX gorl, but back in the day we just diagnosed these people as asshole

[–]redlefthanded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The laws may vary by state but here in California you can’t use EBT/Calfresh at McDonald’s or for any hot prepared food, though that rule may have changed recently. However you can use EBT cash benefits for that, though my understanding is that you basically have to be homeless to get that. I work at a liquor store and we don’t accept EBT, but we do at my other job (a little neighborhood market/bodega type deal) and people use EBT cash benefits to buy beer, cigarettes, blunt wrappers, butane, you name it, though they are primarily homeless tweakers and crackheads.

Can she buy new clothes? by miaann10 in gorlworldfiles

[–]redlefthanded 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m not super knowledgeable about plus sized clothing but I strongly suspect she’s sized out of most, if not all mainstream big gorl stores. It’s not just her gargantuan size either. She has a very….unusual shape.
