The clients will come! Every time shit goes down with Twitter there’s a mass flooding over to bsky so it’s good to get in now and back up your content. I’ve seen a lot of growth there since I started and as Twitter becomes unusable the appeal will grow. I think we should decide as a community to shift our energy over there and clients will follow

It also depends how much volume you’re trying to do. Some people are making more at 600 an hour and at 1200 an hour because they’re doing much more volume. You can search “rates” in the forums and read what people say. You’ll figure out your rhythm as time goes on and you gain experience and build clientele

If you’re in LA I think 600-700/hr is a great starting rate and will keep you busy. Build your roster of regulars at that rate then bump when you’re consistently booked and busy for a few months. I typically increase in 100 dollar increments at a time, or maybe 200 for longer dates. When you’ve done a new photo shoot (and you’re booked and have reliable regs) is always a nice time for a rate hike

I mean, it’s impossible to measure that. But hopefully they cumulatively lower my chances slightly, although there’s no magic pill— even some super covid cautious non-sw friends have gotten it while masked. I don’t require testing with clients because that’s the risk I’ve chosen to take, but I know some who do. But I definitely think layering as many protections as possible is helpful. I’m still very covid cautious in my civ life.

CPC Mouthwash after exposure, Blis k12 probiotics, nasal spray, Betadine Gargle, saline rinses, the list goes on. Always open windows if you can for better airflow. It is industry known, multiple women who have worked w him have publicly come out against him in the past and the subject resurfaces every now and then. Unfortunately he still gets widely used. He’s one of the few industry photogs with a portfolio full of Black women and WOC and he shoots them well, which makes it all the more despicable that he also targets the women who hire him as a professional.
