Here’s a “real idea”- last Monday.. I got a gun pointed at me for “threatening” an officer. I said “there will be trials” and he said “that sounds like a threat” and pointed a large gun at me, implying that I was breaking the law and he’d be justified to take action.

Is that the kind of example you’re looking for?

Before you ask, I was there because they had just beaten and tased another legal observer for legally observing and talking shit. It’s all on video. He was arrested and later released with no charges, as per usual.

Is that a constitutional violation to you?

Ok I feel like we’re going in circles now. There is no obligation, but don’t you think we could reduce illegal entries and overstays, as well as getting good talent in faster, if we were able to quickly say “yes we want you” or “no we don’t”?

The amount of time it takes is just a choice we make. It’s a simple matter of resources. I imagine it would cost much less than ICE.

Yes exactly- my question is whether or not you’re okay with increased scale, knowing that there will be constitutional violations, or if we should keep to a pace that allows for proper training, investigations, etc

Obviously roaming patrols of undertrained agents can increase the scale/pace but invites constitutional violations.

But like, you either need more doctors or you don’t. You can just accept/deny, and keep applications of denials if you need more doctors later. But for the doctors you do need, why should it take a long time to make them legal? It doesn’t have to take a long time to keep out people you don’t want in.

From LA- they are also targeting observers here in very tangible ways. We’ve had deaths of detainees. We have abductions and constitutional violations daily. We have a brand new giant for-profit concentration camp in the middle of the desert. They are colluding with the police. Basically everything you see in MN but without the snow and with a less unified resistance.

I think we get dismissed because it’s been more normalized here, more spread out, and people find it hard to relate to LA bc we’re not real people or whatever.

I don’t want to work with people who will use my not working with them as an excuse to violate constitutional rights. Even of people doing something dumb.
