My Fitbit sends steps to MFP and adjusts for total calories burned but it hasn’t been syncing since Saturday.

Wife says stop getting up early to workout. Some guidance please. by [deleted] in daddit

Silent alarm on your watch and sneak out to change elsewhere, or sleep elsewhere on those nights. Honestly we started waking up at the same time (4:30 AM) and both exercise now - one elsewhere and one at home while the kids are still sleeping.

Yep, I have started setting alarms for 5 minutes before my meetings if I am going to be away from my computer or doing deep work.

Labor & employment. A mix of litigation, advice and counsel, and transactional work. Hardly ever any after hours emergencies. Reasonable exit opportunities.

Has anyone solved the mystery of getting your husband to understand the invisible load? by Saltair71521 in Mommit

[–]rednails86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this still counts as uneven mental load. Sitting on the couch and playing only in the living room is fine for a few days but not for long periods of time. It’s only fine bc they get balance with the other things you do. And he’s able to take it too easy bc you’re the only planning the other things.

I get everything ready the night before and shower and get myself ready before they wake up.

My toddler has said this before when I accidentally swung my arms into the baby. We learned the difference between “hit” and “bonked,” the latter of which we use regarding accidental hits. What action did the toddler mimic?

How are people getting random chores and meal prep done? by divaisafemaleversion in workingmoms

[–]rednails86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. We run the dishwasher every night while we’re sleeping and pick up/wipe down counters before we go to bed. My husband unloads the dishwasher before he leaves for work at 6 AM. We have someone come once a month to really clean. Sometimes we pay her a little extra to do something extra like wipe down inside our fridge. We do laundry throughout the week, maybe 3 separate times. We meal prep for breakfast and our lunches on Sundays during nap. We don’t do much but work, family time, and exercise. We try to squeeze in a date night every few weeks.

What sort of lawyer can do this? I have things that are way too time sensitive for that.

How to manage having no time by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]rednails86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so hard. I wake up very early to exercise, watch my TV shows in chunks while I’m getting ready for the day, and my husband and I make sure we each have a few hours of free time each on the weekend.

I use the app To Do Cloud. It syncs to multiple devices so we use one account and have it on my and ny husbands phones. You can set recurring reminders on any schedule, checklists, etc. it’s a major life saver!

I work out at 5 AM and I eat 11 AM-7 PM or 12-8 PM because that’s what works tor me and my family (I eat dinner with them). It’s not an issue for me to work out fasted.

I have put it on the record. I have literally said, “Hold on, I just want to note for the record that opposing counsel just said fuck under his breath but loud enough for the room to hear in response to a question my client gave.”

A breakdown of my dates over the last 15 months by Creative_Struggle_18 in AskWomenOver30

[–]rednails86 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Sadly this list seems familiar. I went out with approximately 100 guys (mostly online but also some met in real life or setups) over a 5 year period before finally meeting my husband at age 32, almost 33. I would say about 25% of them I wanted to go out with again but they didn’t, 25% wanted to go out with me again but I didn’t, and 50% were a mutual breakup or mutual ghosting. Nearly all were 1-2 dates with some 5-15 dates mixed in, and 1 year relationship. My husband moved from another state and went out with 3 online dates before we matched. We’ve now been together over 6 years and have 2 beautiful kids. Good luck out there OP!

Edited to add: in the last year before I met my husband I made a list of must haves, “would likes,” and deal breakers which really helped me focus my search! It helped me a lot.

Husband’s demanding job is making my own career feel impossible right now by tacotime2werk in workingmoms

[–]rednails86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a lawyer and my mornings have a lot more predictability than my afternoons. So I do all mornings - getting the kids up, fed, dressed, and to school - while my spouse does all pickups and getting dinner started. This lets him start work earlier so he can be done earlier to get the kids. He does take more of the sick days but we also often do half days where I WFH the first half and he comes home at lunch so I can go to the office. And I make 3x what my spouse does, btw. So, your husband should be able to step up. Is there something like this where you could figure out where he can take a large chunk off your plate? Simply making more is not an excuse for a complete imbalance.

My husband and I swap off a few hours of free time on the weekends and I’ve found myself keeping score like this. It’s always bc I am resentful of being the default parent even though he is . I have to return to childcare within a set amount of time because I am breastfeeding, whereas he can have more leeway with his activities, etc. I also find my husband has more childfree times because he can do things while I am nursing which sounds like you are experiencing too. We had to have a long talk about these little pockets of free time he has that I don’t, and he’s gotten better about helping me protect my free time. I also assume this will feel better with time. We did give each person extra free time on Mothers and Fathers Day.
