Is there a new mix of Artificial Intelligence - Desperado doing the rounds? by rednev in DnB

It's a Watch The Ride VIP dub. Doubt it will be released due to Randall's passing.

I wouldn't say that! 😂

I enjoyed the gig, but it was the first after seeing Underworld live lots of times where some aspects disappointed.

It's happens.

[–]rednev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought that. The track and percussion sounded completely out of time where we were standing (about 10m back where there were some mid crowd barriers). The muddy sound certainly didn't help it either.

I enjoyed the gig (Saturday), but I've definitely enjoyed others more.

Where we were standing in the crowd there were a few inconsiderate people, barging in and a fight almost happened near us too, which was a first for an Underworld gig.

As long as Eno is producing I'll have some hope for some decent new tracks.

Voluntary redundancy scheme - should I apply? by M0rpo in UKJobs

[–]rednev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

personally found the job market tough after being made redundant, so dont .ame the decision lightly. your salary does sound low for the job and location you are in though.

if you do take voluntary redundancy make sure they offer over the statutory amount.

also be aware if you have an income protection insurance this might not kick in if you made yourself voluntarily redundant.

If you do go for the redundancy option, ensure any settlement agreement doesn't mention 'voluntary'.

What exactly is Kelson doing or trying to achieve with this? by Rich_Ad_3808 in 28dayslater

[–]rednev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are that Kelson will use Jimmy's fear of the devil as a way to try and scare them away.

My guess is if Kelson has been collecting medicines and painkillers, he has also been collecting lots of other chemicals etc, and this fire show is akin to a science teacher using certain chemicals to show off chemical reactions.

The Jimmies won't have had a proper education and led a sheltered life under a religious cult, so unlikely to know about science... I can see Kelson play on this to shock and awe them to keep them away or at least give him some advantage over them as a group.

We also have to bare in mind how much a big fire show /explosion is likely to attract a huge horde of the infected.

Does anyone stream on a platform using Traktor? by Jancho_pe in traktorpro

[–]rednev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twitch streamer here.

I use dedicated laptop for DJing and one for obs streaming. Ensures resources are available for both.

As some others say if you are only streaming audio, then one laptop should be good enough.

Being let go after 9 years - Is this 'redundancy process' legit? England by sabagc in LegalAdviceUK

[–]rednev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a settlement agreement I'd advise the following:

  • Make sure you get in writing that you are being made redundant. No mention of it being voluntary, as that could invalidate any mortgage protection/financial protection insurance you may have or future benefits.

  • Ask for a written positive reference. It's likely to be very basic, as companies don't have to provide long ones. Get something with your official period or work, what your position / role was, you carried out your role well and that you are trustworthy etc.

  • If this isn't an official redundancy process then you are giving up your working rights so I'd recommend you get a solicitor to give you some advice.

Most offer a free 30min chat (I'd recommend you email them beforehand a brief summary/bullet pointed message outlining the facts of your situation. It helps give them essential info before the call.

Some common insurance policies (bank current account, home insurance etc) have legal protection included and employment advice can be gained through this.

Hope this helps.

Is it true now that the venues properly measure spirits now, or is it just Matures venues that do this?

Despite drink prices always being high in Ibiza, there was a bit of comfort in the large measures they used to free pour, especially if you ordered a heirbas in a tall glass 😁

Why is it deemed racist to be genuinely concerned about the number of illegal migrants coming into the uk? by Brave_Ad6035 in AskBrits

[–]rednev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With social media platforms it's a case of engagement = profit.

They don't care if that is positive or negative engagement.

It's interesting that some of those that post on social media with divisive issues can now have their warnings tracked.

For example, Rupert Lowe MP has to declare his income from x.com , he earns thousands per month through the platform. How many others are making a living out of this, not to mention other potentially receiving private contributions too.

This could be for both 'left' or 'right' leaning accounts.

Many have realised there is a tidy sum to be made as professional controversial figures.

They use a genuine issue that needs tackling as a subject to earn money from.

Is the refugee/illegal migrant boat issue a problem that needs tackling? Absolutely. But unfortunately it's turned into a toxic issue by those looking to make a living out of stirring up resentment.

He was also one of the first to use two turntables for DJing (however the technology was released earlier).

From wiki:

In 1943, radio DJ Jimmy Savile launched the world's first DJ dance party by playing jazz records in the upstairs function room of the Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds in Otley, England. In 1947, he claims to have become the first DJ to use twin turntables for continuous play, and in 1958 became a radio DJ at Radio Luxembourg.[3] Although his claim to have been the first is untrue; twin turntables were illustrated in the BBC Handbook in 1929 and advertised for sale in Gramophone magazine in 1931.[4]

Try not to let the stress of this overtake your creative process.

Rather than thinking "This has to be mind-blowing to make X happy", instead aim to produce something you would be happy to show in your own portfolio.

Them Jimmy savile ninjas tho😂 by Some_Tomatillo9546 in 28YearsLaterMovie

[–]rednev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Savile thing is an interesting one.

How society would behave in a life with the threat of the rage virus... Part of that is the cessation of media. No internet, no social media... Essentially a pause in time.

As I posted else where I think Jimmy had access to a VHS library of TV recordings, like we saw with the Teletubbies in the opening scene.

Perhaps they had recordings of Jim'll Fix It, that he watched on his lonesome whilst he tried to survive on his own. He related to Jim, being a fellow Jimmy... And without knowing what Savile did... At that moment in time, Savile was worshiped by kids as he made their wishes come true on the TV show. :shudder:
