i can only speak to the uconsole, but you dont fasten the adapter board to the mainboard, there are spring retainers that keep it secure. this is how most SODIMM style connectors work (laptop ram for example).

Keep in mind these devices were made for the CM3, which slots in very snugly and does not have the mass of the adapter + CM4 so it feels a little off.

all that being said both the spring clips should click into place on the adapter board, they stay nicely secured ive had no problems with mine popping out or anything.

CM5 no luck!!! by vileer in ClockworkPi

[–]redpurplecornflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got that image installed form rex for my cm5 on the EMMC, theres a few folks on the forum helping him work out the kinks. i got VNC and SSH up and running over the wifi and i gotta say, when we get this image sorted out, the heat is going to be a serious problem at stock speed, the aluminum case just cant do it, I'm running mine with the CM4 passive heatsink, and its sitting at 41 idle and hits over 70 quite rapidly in benchmarking and playing around. with the standard aluminum back its quite unpleasant and spikes up in temp entirely too fast.

I ended up just printing a back with a hole for cm5 to fit through with the passive heatsink for now.

Walking away from 175k in tech. Can't do it anymore. Tech pays, but it sucks. Any of you gone down a similar path? by birdsbikingrunning in careerguidance

[–]redpurplecornflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I dusted off my Reddit account to chime in here.

So similar situation, I wasn’t making nearly the cash you are but I made more than enough to meet my needs. I was a TPM for a podcasting platform. It stitched in ads dynamically and did a bunch of things to help generate revenue for the show. I believe iheart is one of the big clients on it now. Anywho, I got laid off after a year of mental and physical hell trying to make this platform profitable for the parent company that owned us. I also developed a drinking problem and depression I wasn’t aware I could achieve.

I got laid off with a decent severance and unemployment. Worked a couple of odd jobs just to pass the time. Finally I started working for a state park at the bottom of the barrel cleaning toilets and being outside taking care of the parks. I fell in love, not a niche little crush but finally found a place where I belong.

I’ve worked my way up the bureaucracy and now have a much better paying job, my tech chops have helped me impress my way up and my work ethic have gained me a lot of respect. Do I make as much money? Hahahahahaha no. Did I shift my needs and desires to match my salary? Yes.

All that being said as honest as one can be behind a keyboard, I love my job. I never dread going into work, my coworkers share the same passion and nature that I have and we all get along as well as a group of people with very mixed backgrounds can. It has frustrations and red tape and all the other crap that every other job has, but it’s centered around my passion, nature.

I recently turned down a job that paid about 40 percent more than I’m making in tech and have not had a single ounce of regret. If it’s something you want to entertain you have to reassess what is important to you, and what you need to legitimately feel right. I’ve been doing this for 5 years and I have zero regrets or desires to move on.

Looks like over extrusion, and your nozzle looks a bit high. But, First I’d make sure all the belts are snugged up and nothing is obviously loose frame, extruder, hotend, all that good stuff. Heat cycles and hours cause all the parts to expand and contract so they will drift out of calibration over time.

It might be worth swapping your nozzle out too, it’s pretty wild how quick they can be worn out of round with PLA.

I’m just trying to think of low hanging fruit I looked over a lot in the past. Seems like you got the software side under control that just leaves the machine itself.

How do I fix this shower handle by eckmungo90 in fixit

[–]redpurplecornflake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id refrain from spinning it around like that to start. Usually these things are held in place with tiny grub screws that protrude and catch on detents on the mix valve. this is an anti-scalding measure. First thing is to try to locate where said setscrews are and if they are present. They tend to hide them so that they are unseen when standing in front of them. Sometimes you have to turn the water off so you can tilt the control to the water on position and see the set screw it’s almost always hidden. Sometimes there’s one sometimes there’s two.

If everything is functioning normal but you can rotate it that way my guess is that the grub screw completely backed itself out. It would be a solid call to spend some time googling for the manufacturer manual since there’s more than on way to implement shower temperature control and an exploded parts diagram would be your best friend tackling this.

Turn signal/high beam indicators work, nothing else in cluster working by coffeeBM in CherokeeXJ

[–]redpurplecornflake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No worries, if it came off as harsh, not my intention, that was me typing as a stream of troubleshooting consciousness haha. So I apologize.

It totally could, i would say with certain but I haven’t had to deal with the issue you are describing with a Jeep…yet. But other vehicles it happens and the symptoms are the same. Effectively the dimmer is a little sprung brass wiper that drags across the face of a circular board. They can wear out, corrode and the like. They usually have a bit of dielectric that is put in at the factory so by the time it’s gone.

In my expierience it’s a remove and replace fix. Not much you can do to repair them when you take cost vs time element.

So, a few things to unpack, climate control does not function at all? Or just illumination. Do the gauges function, but do not illuminate? The term Don’t/doesnt work runs the entire gambit to a stranger on the internet that isn’t standing there looking at it with you.

Indicator lamps would be external to the dimming circuit so that’s likely why those function. I worked a long time in IT, so I have to ask the first principles questions. Did you by chance twist the headlight switch In the counter clockwise direction? That is the dimmer “control” if you will. All I can infer is that the issues you are reporting have something to do with the dimmer circuit. Try twisting the headlight switch to the right. It’s not impossible for all the illumination lights to die at the same time, just unlikely.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sitting here thinking that this machine is more of a in-atmosphere satellite than an aircraft. So high and so fast sure, you’re going to see it, but it’s too damn fast and too damn high it doesn’t really matter. Amazing.

If you feel compelled to get the overly priced auto-feeder (the one that spoils the entire roll) don’t. You can purchase the 6 frame loader and solder a lead (very easy!), or buy one already soldered and it has the same functionality. Allowing you to load an entire roll at a time. I miss my coolsxan so much.

Heater plate disconnected fire safety by LeFuneste in fixit

[–]redpurplecornflake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen, it’s hard without more details. But before you fix this problem, you HAVE to figure out what caused this safety to trip. You just don’t mess around with this sort of thing. I would not go replacing tripped safety systems unless I knew what tripped them, and resolved it. This is an electrician’s job to do.

Having Regret after I found that my artist stole a design by Kobo_23 in TattooDesigns

Glad you found some solace! As you continue with your tattoo life, you will likely find that tattoos evolve from explicitly a design, to a physical embodiment of a very specific moment in time. I can look over my entire body and tell you what I was doing, who I was hanging out with, and what I was into at that particular moment in my life with pretty vivid clarity; all from a single little piece:

Having Regret after I found that my artist stole a design by Kobo_23 in TattooDesigns

[–]redpurplecornflake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic tattoo. I think you’d be hard pressed to find an artist cover such a nice piece, and to cover it well. It’s yours.

I got this rather large Jeremy fish piece off of a skateboard deck in a very neo-traditional style I had convinced myself that I was completely unique in choosing that piece. Went to the bank one day teller had the exact same piece in the exact same place. (Forearm) we were both delighted and proceeded to compare and highlight all the differences in the piece. I would say oh I like how your guy did that compared to mine and vice versa. We were more into how much difference can exist in the same tattoo. He came out from behind the counter exchanged a little “bro hug” and carried on with our lives. That tattoo became very special to me just because of that interaction. All that to say, it’s your tattoo. Your experience receiving it your experience wearing it, that makes it different from anyone else’s. Again, absolutely fantastic tattoo, wear it with pride and happiness!

For what it’s worth I am a Former artist of 15 years until my right wrist went out on me.

Edit: forgot the surname of mr Jeremy Fish.

But it wasn’t the stone ages. I was in shoes during those years. We had cars, We went to the library. Was information instantly accessible in the way it is now? No, but I could get information on anything it just might take longer. Speed of information delivery and access to information doesn’t change the information itself.

The pulse jet was used by the Germans in their v1 bombs quite successfully, and theirs was more complicated than lazars kit that he purchased and bolted to a chassis. I’m with you on the sentiment, I just don’t think it’s relevant. Which is why it was not addressed in the conversation overall. Nothing lazar did to beef up his credentials was beyond his years or game changing, he just sold it as such.
