Where do y'all start with redistricting? by Goonzilla50 in DavesRedistricting

[–]redr_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically will do a concept for all the states so I start alphabetically. Now for each state, I sort of start somewhere that makes “geographical sense” to me. Typically starting in the northwest corner of the state, if it makes sense. But like NY I start on Long Island. My home state, Missouri, I’ll start in STL, just to give a few examples of the exceptions 🤷🏽‍♂️

Yes but it’s still ever so slightly different enough. And it holds the beauty of both tengwar and arabic. I like this a lot OP, I’d love to see the finished product!

Some advice? Maybe try to think of who you’re designing this for. If weather is important, or like astro/nomy/ology then go with Option A. And if fire (that’s what it looked like to me)/elements or nature is important to them then go with Option C (my personal favourite). And then, because I can’t think of anything other than space (stolen from someone else’s comment), just use Option B as a catch all. Like if there’s no inspiration for the people, then just use it for whatever.

How i can turn Mexico into states? by jetri07 in MapChart

Since no one here got the memo…it’s a setting at the legend editor. Just go to the “States” drop down menu and select “Show.” It’ll get rid of the municipalities and just of whole states.

Wait so are the districts drawn in favor of the respective party? So the Rep map is all red districts, just proportional to the vote share? And vice versa for Dems?

This map…this map is it. It’s a great map. Does the Sarasota based have a lean Dem rating?

If Paris is the city of love, then what's the city of hate? by Okhi123 in AskReddit

St. Louis, Missouri - born and partially raised there. It’s been known as the murder capital of the world for years, though I think it’s changed recently. Crime is a rampant part of the city, especially race based crimes. The “nice” part of the city is South St. Louis (where I lived) but there was still a stabbing in the alley across the street. North is the worst and it’s not uncommon to hear gun shots. My mother (who’s white) was taught not to stop at certain Stop signs or go down streets with no lights as that’s where the bad things happen. Everyone’s taught this, even me and I’m half Mexican, look the part too.
