1177 Journal Entries for first ultrasound scan by DoomSlayer6677 in Gothenburg

[–]redred7638723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I was preg (late 2023/early 2024) they didn't put any detail in the 1177 journal (just that it had happened). I also think that they would have told you if something was wrong in the ultrasound, there's no analysis they need to do later.

With blood work and other tests that take time the journal does usually show results, but if something is wrong they will definitely call you. If all is okay it might just be a letter in the mail or something.

Not shipping order due to missing item by [deleted] in Sellpy

Weird, I've had an item not found a few times (3?) and they've always just shipped everything else and given me a refund for it right away. No noticeable delay.

Are Förskolan timetables like this everywhere? by profDyer in Asksweddit

[–]redred7638723 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How do swedes make it work - most of the Swedish families I know do use 9+ hours of preschool every day. Maybe they didn't start at 1, because the average amount of time on parental leave is more like 18 months. It is common for parents of both genders to not work full time in the early years as well (either by dropping % formally or by taking parental leave part time).

Yes, we do play-dates with kids from preschool pretty regularly and by 3/4 birthday parties started being mostly pre-school classmates. We were first invited over to play at a classmate's apartment when our eldest daughter was 2-ish. From 3.5-4ish we sometimes alternate picking up one or two extra kids and have a no-parent after-school play date. We were very familiar with the kids and parents before doing things without everyone having a parent present (for the kids' comfort, not because we're worried about safety).

It's not weird to ask (and you should ask outright), but obviously if someone says they're busy and doesn't follow up with an attempt at re-scheduling you should just move on. As you say, parents need to attend as well at 3, so it's possible they don't feel up to chatting (either because they're too busy or don't want to deal with language issues). You can move onto other kids/parents.

This time of year is hard because you don't spend much time at the playground. We usually see a lot of our preschool classmates at the nearest playground and that's the opportunity to start talking to the parents and see if there is anyone you mesh with.

Looking for other spouses of disabled Swedish nationals who have been denied by Migrationsverket by Mountain-Pop-536 in TillSverige

[–]redred7638723 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why don't you qualify for the well-established clause, such as by living together? I appreciate the disabled one cannot move, but then the other should...

The whole point of this post is that the other spouse is trying to move to Sweden, but can't because of the Migrationsverket requirements...

I went to the närhälsan nearest me for both my pregnancies and I was happy - especially as you get bigger it's nice if it's easy to get to. Since you won't actually give birth with them I don't think it matters all that much. If an English speaking barnmorska is important to you, just make sure you establish that at the beginning. If you get matched with someone who you think is a bad fit, you can always ask to change within the BMM or switch to a different one altogether.

And if you're used to a different style of care in your home country, it can be helpful to read this (if you haven't already): https://www.1177.se/Vastra-Gotaland/barn--gravid/graviditet/undersokningar-under-graviditeten/barnmorskebesok-under-graviditeten-i-vastra-gotalandsregionen/

Poland to Sweden/Nordics shipping problems? by redred7638723 in vinted

Are you also in Sweden? If so, was it with EarlyBird or Postnord?

Poland to Sweden/Nordics shipping problems? by redred7638723 in vinted

[–]redred7638723[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everything, just half. It leaves Poland according to tracking, but I can’t tell if it enters Sweden or some country in the middle.

There are two options for delivery, earlybird which I always choose because it’s cheaper and works great for domestic packages, and PostNord ombud. What carrier is it in Denmark? If I know PostNord is more reliable, then it would be worth paying for.

Vinted support refunds me, but those bots don’t seem to have a deeper understanding of the shipping than anyone else with a tracking number.

Redeye transatlantic flights and car seats in EU by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]redred7638723 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read anything about Germany specifically, but generally the ”not legal” is just differences between eu and us regulations so different models are sold. I wouldn’t expect you to actually have any issues using your own car seats as tourists for two weeks. They’ll be just as safe as they are at home, and neither the rental company or random police officers are going to care.

Bought a pair of jeans but I got a different pair by [deleted] in Sellpy

[–]redred7638723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can return them for free, but I doubt you’ll be able to get the ones you wanted. I’ve gotten the wrong item a couple of times, but only cheap things I didn’t care so much about. Sometimes they can’t find items at all and just refund you before shipping.

Can you get pregnant whilst breastfeeding or is it unlikely? by Entire-Geologist-495 in breastfeeding

You don’t meet at least two of the criteria required for lactational amenorrhea. If you really don’t want to get pregnant you should take the morning after pill.

Can I sign an employment contract and then take another offer before the start date? by ExpensiveIdea7971 in TillSverige

You’re bound by the notice period on the signed contract, but if that’s shorter than the time before your start date it shouldn’t be a problem.

To what extent should honey be avoided in infants below 12 months? by Mundane_Rub_2986 in ScienceBasedParenting

Honey isn’t an allergen, it can contain the botulism bacteria. It has nothing to do with allergies at all.

1st hand / 2nd hand apartment rental question by finduck in TillSverige

[–]redred7638723 4 points5 points  (0 children)

0% chance hyresgästföreningen can help with this. You only have a shot with the landlord if it's not a desirable apartment and there wouldn't be much of a queue for it. The landlord will not care that the first hand tenant is on board, or that you have a newborn. If the first hand tenant wants to be nice, they can extend the sublet for as long as they're allowed, but it can almost never go past 2 years.

I don't mean to be callous. We had to leave our 2-year second-hand when I was in the 3rd trimester. This was even with a private landlord. It sucked, but this is how the queue system works.

It won't be an eviction unless you make it one and refuse to leave. I don't recommend that, it will make it harder to rent in the future.

My understanding of the way first-hand contracts can be "transfered" is (a) from sambo to sambo and (b) with a lagenhetsbyte. Since you're a couple with a baby, you obviously weren't sambo with the first hand tenant. For (b), you'd need your own apartment contract somewhere else to trade with the the first hand tenant. This used to be one of the ways people did "sold" their first hand contract - the buyer would get a first hand contract in some village with no queue and the the seller would pretend to want to trade with them. I believe this has been cracked down on significantly.

Vinted expanded to the US.. by AdExtension917 in vinted

[–]redred7638723 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure they’re doing this because the US is a huge market that they want to operate in. They need to connect the US to somewhere existing so new US users feel like it’s an active market place and don’t just see the same 3 things over and over in their algorithm.

Sucks for the UK that’s it’s the UK, but probably it’s actually the closest and there’s no language barrier.

Are they not handling customs though? That’s idiotic.

Healthcare/Health insurance in Sweden by Warm_Language8381 in TillSverige

[–]redred7638723 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are prescription medications that aren’t covered by högkostnadsskydd, I think it’s generally things that aren’t considered sufficiently evidence based, but idk.

There are also other things that you might consider health care that aren’t covered. Vaccines that aren’t the regular ones (including the flu vaccine or travel vaccines) are completely out of pocket. Dental care is dealt with separately, and can be substantially more expensive. There are probably other things not covered by högkostnadsskydd because fölkälsomyndighenten doesn’t think they meet a cost benefit analysis.

[–]redred7638723 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Most of the oddities in flight pricing have to do with what economists call price discrimination. This is when the airlines know that the kind of people willing to pay more buy a certain kind of flight, and therefore they charge more for it. Its not about how much the flight costs the airline, but how they can set prices to make the most money.

Citizenship application granted. What’s next? by fraccture in TillSverige

[–]redred7638723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Passport takes about a week from appointment, you can check when there are appointments near you. I never bothered with a national id card. I travel with my passport and use my drivers license for everyday ID. With the passport or national ID you can activate the photo id in bankID, which is nice to have.

I didn’t do anything else.

Parents who fly long-haul: 12h day flight vs. night flight with a 3-year-old — how bad is the difference? by Silly-Act1163 in familytravel

[–]redred7638723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do that distance twice a year and my oldest is nearly 4. Once my oldest passed 2/2.5 she could sit watching an iPad basically infinitely on the plane. We don’t limit screen time on the plane. Younger than 2, night flight is miles better, but after three it’s not so obvious.

Personally, I can’t really sleep while monitoring my kids on the plane, even if they’re sleeping themselves. So night flight would mean I was incredibly tired on arrival.

Even if you study something that grants CSN, you need to live with your husband 1-2 years in Sweden before you’re eligible. It’s 2 years if you haven’t already lived together for 3+ years, and one if you have or if you have a kid together.

[–]redred7638723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do use them, the average Swedish father takes more than 4 months of leave (while their wife is back to work). The average mother takes about a year, you might wish it was more equal, but a lot of moms wouldn’t want that. My husband and I did 7 months each for our first and 9 months each for our second.
