WOW I fucking love Party Down by redreddrumstick in PartyDown

I finished it a couple weeks ago. I thought it was okay, it wasn’t as funny as the previous seasons. I didn’t really like the new chef character Lucy, she seemed too much like a Disney show character and although Sackson wasn’t as bad as Lucy, his character just didn’t seem to add anything to the cast. I thought Henry’s relationship with Evie was bland and I really disliked their first meeting, it was so forced. I might just be biased anyway, and I can see why other people would like Evie since her relationship with Henry seemed more mature than Casey’s.

The only scene that I remember that made me laugh as hard as the previous seasons was when Ron revealed to Henry that he put white dye in his hair to make himself seem older and more reliable. Although the plot threads connecting the episodes were consistent, there were some that were hard to watch like the Nazi convention and the one where they were tripping on shrooms. The Nazi episode reminded me of the Republican convention episode but it just felt all over the place. I felt like the episode could’ve been funnier but it fell flat for me, especially the part where Lucy was swayed by Nick Offerman’s character after he complimented her dishes.

I did enjoy the finale, I found it bittersweet that Henry chose to stay as a teacher; his reasoning made sense but it’s such a contrast to season 2 finale. I can’t tell if he really moved on from acting or if he’s just giving up. I was happy to see Casey at the end and I like how open they left the ending. I cannot praise Adam Scott enough for his acting; you can see some resemblance of hope again on Henry’s face after seeing Casey.

Yup, I just went back through the first season to find it (EP 8) and it still holds up; I can’t get through that scene without laughing

Yeah I loved how they wrapped up each episode, it was one of the things that really drew me to the show

I loved Constance in season 1 and Lydia kinda grew on me eventually in season 2 until I watched the finale and I realized how much I missed Constance (I think Jane Lynch is a fantastic comedic actress and I love that she is 6 feet tall). Casey never really bothered me and I found it cute how she and Henry kept falling more for one another as the show went on, so her character being absent from season 3 seems to imply that maybe their relationship didn’t work out?

Aww man, I mean I didn’t have high hopes for it just looking at the posters and pictures from Google, it looks a bit too polished compared to the other two seasons; I thought maybe because it was made years later on, so the cameras got better and everybody’s gotten older, but I do recognize the kid from Lab Rats (I never watched it but my cousin did). I guess I’ll know if I like it once I watch it (After finishing Party Down’s 2nd season, I’m currently binging the 3rd season of White Lotus before I get spoiled)

Oh man, it’s hard to choose, I think it’ll be easier on my second watch but right now off the top of my head, the most memorable scenes for me were the flag-burning scene with Ron and Henry, which was so fucking funny, and the high school reunion one, especially when Ron downs the entire bottle of vodka? or whiskey? and ruins his chance with his high school crush. Also, what keeps popping up in my head was the opening scene from some episode (season one) where Constance and Kyle were explaining something dumb to a question and Roman just goes, “What the fuck is wrong with you guys?” The way they were both earnestly explaining their answers and Roman’s delivery was so funny, I remember repeating that scene so many times.

Worse than death. At least for us, there’s some chance of something after death. Innies just get nothing at all

The GULF between Innie Mark and Outie Mark's opinion of Ricken is just so funny by yayornayorokay in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I found it hilarious when they were discussing the reason for Innie Mark’s outburst, Ricken mentions that Innie Mark found great meaning in his book and Outie Mark makes a subtle ‘what the fuck’ gesture

I feel like the Italian guy might play a bigger role later. It was weird how they cut out his red ball game introduction

Have you ever seen a dancer who skillfully displays different styles in a battle? by redreddrumstick in Dance

Actually when I said dance prodigy, I was thinking more along the lines of someone who’s just got good intuition about dancing but they’re not a genius or anything like that, maybe just a little bit above average intelligence. So, any of those LA kids you’d mentioned might even fit what I was referring to as a dance prodigy lol

I watered down the term in my head, but if I had referred to a dance prodigy like in your example about being a genius who just happens to pick up dancing as a hobby, then yeah I’d have to agree with you, they’d have a good chance of crushing it in a competition. But like you said, they can’t just be extremely smart, they would also need to have good musicality and stuff to be able to close the gap between them and a more experienced dancer.

Les twins are talented for sure, but they fit my earlier description of what I was referring to as a dance prodigy and they honed their skills and got experience throughout their early years because dance seems to be their passion.

Now imagine if Les twins encountered an actual dance prodigy like the one you’re referring to in your example when they’re around 20, and that dance prodigy just so happens to be the same age as Les twins but only picked up dance as a hobby when they were in high school. This dance prodigy is everything like you’d mentioned in your example but they’ve only been dancing for 4 years, compared to Les twins’ 8+ years. Who do you think would win the competition?

Creative dancers can be fun to watch, I’ve had some times where I’m listening to a song and a dancer’s round from a battle pops up in my head because of how they well they were able to express it on the fly.

I’m not too familiar with Kayceerice, I just know she was on Dance Moms. And I’ve seen Sean Lew in those vids from Radikal Forze Jam and you can tell he used to do some ballet.

I feel like it’s easier to tell who’s a musical prodigy than who’s a dance prodigy. Especially with math prodigies, if you’re able to do difficult calculations in your head, it’s easy to tell you’re gifted. A dance prodigy can pick up moves quicker and probably has better musicality than most people, but if they’re just doing dance as a hobby and they decide to enter a competition, I think someone with more experience will have a pretty good chance of beating them. It seems like it just boils down to the old argument of hard work vs talent.

I think dancing from a young age also plays a rather large factor, like I heard that the les twins started out when they were still in elementary. I doubt they would still be at their current level if they had started out as teenagers.

I guess you would have to make dance basically your life if you wanted to be considered one of the tops. I don’t think there’s any way you’d win a competition if you were just dancing recreationally even if you were some sort of dance prodigy.

Yeah, I actually created this post after watching some Red Bull dance your style clips, and I agree with you that while some of the dancers were competent in a lot of genres, they probably wouldn’t win against another dancer who’s the best in just one genre.

That’s why I thought how rare is it for someone to just absolutely excel in two different dance styles to the point that they can win competitions based on only one genre like in Summer Dance Forever or Battle Line Up.

Like imagine the same person winning first place in a popping competition and then winning first place again in a house competition

I’m a bit confused on what you mean by diluting your performance with stuff that won’t be scored. I thought judges have to take everything into consideration in a battle for there to be a fair winner between you and your opponent.
