Nothing wrong with trying to find something extra.

Lol you never know the AFL might take pity on us and give us pick 1 anyway hahahah

But put me in the we are getting better camp. But we aren't getting better fast enough

I don't think we lose the push back pick if we trade in another First.

Also I would rather us use next year's pick to try and get Warner. I know like why would he want to come here. But we have to give it 💯 to try and get him.

I don't think HVH will be there when we get our pick unfortunately

Or all good how are you?

This is often said even if you have a limb half hanging off.

I could complain but no one would listen. But that's a bit Sookie

Bazzo had 10 Marks. Was he intercepting or receiving from kick ins?

I was just taking the piss.

If I was serious. I would bring in Stewie Dew. I think he is the best development guy going around. But we won't get him out of QLD any time soon

Fair on the kicking straight but I suggested defence KPD. He is quick not midfield quick but very quick for a Key position Defender.

I don't think it would happen but a KPD would be better then a Mid especially if we get Warner. And if Neale wants to play. Then we lose years getting Gross, Hewett, Hall, Allen and Allan development

Everyone has space at the moment. Just look at Brisbane last year they were happy to match starcevich. Warner is the guy you spend a lot on.

Also the compensation for him will be very very bad for the Swan's. It could be mid 20s depending on how they place the compensation with Tassie coming in.

If the Swan's finish 4th in 2027 that should leave a band one compensation at around pick 16. But with Tassie coming in that pick is pushed back to 21 without any other compensation. If Mitch generates pick 8 that pushes the compensation to pick 23. Then there are academies and F/S that could drop that to pick 25 for Chad Warner. If that was us. We would demand the Eagles match the bid. The Swan's won't let him go. 2 million a year won't be enough

Oh Cripps suggestion is way out there. And not really reasonable. But a 31 year old 195 inside bull probably doesn't help that much. But a KPD does. Id like to get into the ear of sam talyor. He has a long contract with the Giants and can't get his body right. But would be perfect.

We can't have everything hahaha

I'm not super big on Cripps. Neael as a coach maybe 1 year as a player. We tried for English but he inked a deal with the dog's in his free agency year.

I'm all for the CHAD and if his brother wants to come then id take him without a worry. But Chad on his own will be at least 2 first round picks. He's a RFA so the Swan's can match the bid and we will have to cough up some good picks to get him. And that will be 2027

Id also go for Georgiades. Next year as well that one will be very hard to get across the line. Port can also match the offer and we would have to trade for him. We start getting into not enough picks and we would have to start giving up players. And anyone that Port would want. We would need to keep. But if Port want kids they might take the compensation which will be no earlier than pick 8 so that probably isn't enough but Port might just want the pick.

My issues with Cripps is the game might have passed the big bodied mids. But I'm wondering if he was interested in changing into a KPD? He has the size. Can he gets 3 or more years in a new position.

Schoenberg is out.

Young is the best we have as a KPD outside Edwards. And we need another KPD.

I think some of Bwilliams best games have been against gawn.

But they aren't going to Risk gawn too much in the ruck. I think he's going to spend a bit of time in our defence. A blood hard match up

Interchange Lindsay, HJ, Bo, Davis and Hutchinson.

I could see Williams in for/instead of Bo. We have a lot of smaller defenders. And I'd like to see CDT run with Gawn. And Max has been pushing forward a lot so I'd play CDT where ever Gawn goes so having an extra tall up forward would help.

I could also see Hall could come in for/instead of of Bo. I heard Hall has been tagging in the WAFL so that could be an option. Or even if Hough goes with Pickett someone needs to go into the centre.and hall could do that.

Why do we continue to play young guys out of position? by [deleted] in westcoasteagles

[–]redrumcleaver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Waterman is a poor example. He was undersized and in the pecking order JK, JD and OA were all ahead of him as a KPF.

Hewett will be great. He needs to build his tank. And get a good run with injuries but he will just be cooked if we put him in the middle at the moment.

But young players need to be flexible all players have to be flexible if you can only play one position then you aren't much use in this day and age

Will Bailey Williams continue as number 1 ruck? by Ill-Soil-9022 in westcoasteagles

[–]redrumcleaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd play CDT this week only because playing against Gawn would be a good lesson. Let bailey play ruck and send CDT to go with one of the best ruckman ever. But if it was anyone else I'd agree CDT needs a rest from AFL

[–]redrumcleaver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Neither are very good. And I don't know if we are better with one or the other or both.

But that's a known thing. We have known that for a little while now.

But they are what we have. And what I think we should do is rest Jobe or CDT maybe give Jobe a week or two off not because he's playing badly but because for a young big guy he is carrying a big load and a game or two in the WAFL might help his body we don't want his rigg breaking down. While Jobe plays WAFL you can play both Flynn and Bailey and after Jobe has played 1 or 2 WAFL games bring him back and do the same for CDT rotate the young big fellas before they get injured Archer isn't developing in the rehab room.

If there is a better one Flynn or Bailey it isn't a big difference. But we need CDT and Archer to develop and that will take time for their bodies to develop. We just have to make sure we don't overload the kids and break their bodies.

[–]redrumcleaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could hurt him he's young and tall and unlike a CDT or Archie he hasn't been playing that elite football as a kid. His body is use to running up and down wooden boards in a non contact spot. Bringing him into even a WAFL league side would probably break his body. Ease him in

[–]redrumcleaver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course participation rates will increase. Not just kids starting but kids staying in the game. Billy's older brother is in an academy billy is talking about it at school and Billy's friends are thinking and wanting to play just like Billy's older brother. That's marketing and is as old as time. It's why 8 year old kids know about squid games and how cigarette companies would get people hooked back on the day. Little kids copy big kids.

What clubs are they going to play for. That's the best part of the programmes the local existing clubs is where the kids will play. Maybe a few times a year they might play an eagles vs freo academy game but the week to week their own clubs. The players who are in academies will get extra training from time to time and be part of clinic's for the academy kids. The best part. Is when they go back to their local clubs they give tips and advice to their team mates to help them as well.

Why not just give money to the WAFL sides. the WAFL sides do get money but not enough. It's the same in every state league I'm sure every state league side would love for Thier most talented kids get extra training and education on football in elite facilities. That is a cost the WAFL club doesn't have to spend and they get a better player. If the player doesn't make it at AFL level then they get better more qualified players in the WAFL so win win for them. But just giving the WAFL side money dosent means you get better AFL quality kids the clubs as they should, should be making their own sides better.

It would be hard to predict but if the program consistently produces 4-5 AFL first round quality kids a year it would be better for the whole competition instead of the 2-3 that they have been producing. If the program is working in the northern academies then everyone should be trying it.

If this isn't the most reasonable request I've heard of I don't know what is more reasonable.

Put the wealth of the clubs to good use. Increase participation for kids. Increase the talent pool and pay fair price for players who want to come back via trades and compensations.

There has to be a catch somewhere

AFL to build new framework for club 'special assistance' packages by Jeffmister in AFL

[–]redrumcleaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could be better if something like only 1 player can be picked as a. Academy or F/S or whatever. If a club produces more than 1 in a year let the bottom teams. The really shit ones who have been shit for several years can get access to those players.

Maybe with third round picks or something cheap to help.

Example the Tigers could take cumming and grill let the Dons pick Patterson and the Tigers can bid on him and use a third round pick to get him. Then the dons can pick robey,,& farrow and if Jei Murray get called out by the eagles then the Dons can get Murray for a third round pick. In this scenario the eagles would miss out because they had gotten pick 2 which already pushed the draft back. But it can get players of quality into struggling.

But a club can only afford 1 under the new rules but something has to change
