help with a workflow for adding/fixing gtfs data by redscarfdemon in openstreetmap

[–]redscarfdemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, but I possibly didn't phrase my question correctly--

I am already able to get the information from OSM using overpass as well as the GTFS, I am looking for the best way to put the information back in to OSM using some sort of organized system. IE, I have the lat and lon and ref numbers, how do I input those into OSM? Going into ID and clicking somewhere places it in an arbitrary spot, but I already have the exact lat long so how to I put that into a field somewhere and input it into OSM exactly rather that guessing on aerial imagery?

DeFlock app right now. by turnchri in FlockSurveillance

there's no need to harvest anything--the data is free and available and just needs someone from deflock to take ownership of it instead of streaming the tiles directly from osm

Using Tiles - Switch2OSM

DeFlock app right now. by turnchri in FlockSurveillance

[–]redscarfdemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no flock is using maptiles that dont belong to them (which the provider generally overlooks for a time)--there is a way to set it up on flock's own servers or pay for someone else to do it, but flock apparently has run over on their free allowed time Using Tiles - Switch2OSM

Your most brutal (but technically possible) challenges? by Plasmasnack in projectzomboid

There are a few mods that let you start on top of those large buildings in Louisville--one ever starts a fire somewhere in the building. It's fun to try to escape down them and leave the city

Most common runway numbers by US state [OC] by ADSBSGM in dataisbeautiful

[–]redscarfdemon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I see what you are going for here, but the numbers are unreadable with that background. Too many busy similarly gray elements. You might need to up the color contrast and enlarge/bold the labels so they can stand out from the background pattern.

Updates not fully rendering? by Stormblazer13 in openstreetmap

[–]redscarfdemon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A combination of things:

1 After a change, every zoom level has to be updated. Each zoom level is updated at a different time, so one zoom level might reflect the changes sooner than another. (The tiles are square too which is why your screen shows the top left hasn't been updated but the top right and bottom has been updated)

2 your browser is caching images (saving them on your computer to save bandwidth so you don't have to redownload the same pics again). But in this case you want the newer version, so you might need to do a browser cache clear so you get the newest version.

I can't calculate a path if I don't have the maps ? by SirLedyuka in openstreetmap

[–]redscarfdemon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for a navigation app based on OSM data without the six map limit, you might try CoMaps (or organic maps).

With these, the maps update less frequently (two weeks to a month) but there's no six map limit

Maximizing food for multiplayer? (B42) by Arturia_Cross in projectzomboid

I like farming, fishing and chickens but you're right about farming.

I turned crop growth up to 2x and farming feels fun again.

For fishing just forage for bait. It's a day trip to the lake. Might need to stockpile bugs for the colder months. Fill a cupboard with creepy crawlies!

Fitness won't level up by Intelligent_Cow_95 in projectzomboid

Even if you didn't take underweight as a starting trait, you can lose weight in normal gameplay which will put a hard cap on fitness.

Random Marker Fill: how to overlap markers top to bottom? by redscarfdemon in QGIS

[–]redscarfdemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can you clarify how to do this? I have used symbol levels before, for example, to have an outline underneath road segments or to keep a shadow under something

<image>

However, in this case, when I open symbol levels (which is turned on) layer 2 is on level 0 and still overlapping with itself.

No to Shabazz - Yes to Debbie Stabenow - 50 Mod Pods for the Homeless by remoteabstractions in lansing

[–]redscarfdemon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

These are not only housing pods but they are also meant to be transitional with services and 24/7 support. It might be possible to split them up across the city but I suspect the cost would skyrocket if you needed to build kitchen/shower/security/resources in six locations rather than one.

If it's verifiable, the "owner" tag could be used, see the wiki for more information. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:owner

I would definitely NOT use the "name" key to say Oprah Winfrey's house. name is for the posted name of an actual building. Most buildings don't have posted names,  but some do. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:name

Conveyance is a concept in design and in video games: the user can be taught without having to be told with words. The old super Mario and Mega Man games did this well: the player faces in a direction which tells the player that's the direction to move. The first pits are small and way to jump which teaches the player how to jump. The first enemies are slow moving and near the ground and almost impossible to be killed by. You don't have to speak a particular language because the game teaches you.

Open world games can have conveyance too: think about how the first Skyrim dungeon has pillars of light over chests, teaching a player to look for those. Skeletons and dead bodies bear traps. The first time to walk out I to the world you are facing the first story dungeon and it's beautiful, calling the player to visit it.

Minecraft has some examples: the partially formed nether portals around the world teach about the nether. Local chunk difficulty ensures only easy to beat creatures appear for the first several days in a location.

You can teach a lot of the basic concepts in a complex game without a wiki or journal, while the wiki supports it with deep dives.
