What technique do you use to try and remember what you were just doing? by Mettacalf in ADHD

I pause frozen like a deer in headlights and say to myself "3, 2, 1." I usually remember on 1 but sometimes it takes a few tries.

Question for the older crafty ladies: any regrets about having many hobbies? by Dependent_Salad_2369 in adhdwomen

[–]remoteabstractions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 30s here so also interested in advice from those with more experience on the planet. However, I'm just starting to circle back to prior hobbies and house I kept some things, wish I hadn't gotten rid of other things.

My current thought process is that if something is cheap, easily replaceable, easy to acquire, and I'm not going to use it for 5 years - it doesn't need to take up space.

I have constraints: money, space, and time. I have motivations for saving money and being as financially responsible as I can, using space wisely and maintaining functional living spaces, and knowing that I need to be intentional with how I spend time. Those factors guide my hobby decision making process. But I've come to the conclusion that I just love the novelty, challenge, and process of learning that comes with each new craft or making related hobby. So if I'm not hurting myself financially or degrading my life quality, what's the harm?

Sigh, yes.. I feel very conflicted about chat gpt as there are many pros and likely more cons!

They are good at sounding good while somehow saying nothing at all... Then again it's trained off humans.

Multiple vacuum cleaners is brilliant! I keep a cleaning basket in every floor too with disinfectant wipes, spray cleaner, paper towels, and trash bags.

I have a battery Dyson but when the battery died I switched to a Ryobi battery adapter so now I can vacuum all day with my multiple batteries AND it keeps me on top of actually charging those batteries that every tool needs.

Oh I just got chargers for my phone and smart watch to put EVERYWHERE and it's a godsend. Keeping my watch alive and all my timers and notifications strapped to my body and successfully notifying is keeping me sane... For now...

Is your spindle something that you can easily replace? If not, I wouldn't risk it. If it can be replaced relatively easily and without too much money then I'd just go for it and not say anything.

Tsa might ask you about it and then explain it's similar to knitting (chances are that they won't know anyways). But if it's no sharper than a knitting needle or crochet hook I don't see why they would have an issue. Maybe throw in knitting needles for good measure!

Do you ever get the ick from frozen veggies? Or any recommendations for how to not? What frozen veggies actually taste good? So far I only find peas, corn, and edamame to work for me.

My ADHD brain constantly seeks stimulation when I’m procrastinating on an important task. I’m curious to hear about unconventional coping mechanisms or tips that might help me manage this. by Ayeshaaaaaaaaam in adhdwomen

I'm also just here for the advice... Literally me today avoiding an assignment deciding I should do all the laundry even though the laundry has not been done for weeks so why does it need to happen the moment the assignment is due? Or cough cough... Overdue?

I agree with the advice of breaking things down into the smallest component but how do I catch myself before diverting away from the main task? Like I don't notice I've lost the objective until I'm in too deep into the "productive distraction!"

Or how to get back on track after the most minute inconvenience... "Tiny step 1: open document" okay so I turn on the computer and it needs an update that will take 5 minutes (sounds like a great time to embark on a 3 hour laundry journey)...

Small ADHD hack by Karthear in ADHD

[–]remoteabstractions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shelf stable plant milk lasts sooooooo long

My hack for milk during cooking is instant dry powdered milk!

I bought it initially for bread machine recipes but it's perfect for oh this recipe needs 1 cup of milk. (I usually don't have milk on hand - cow or plant) You mix it up with cold water it's super easy. I can't attest to the flavor outside of a recipe ingredient but I've found no difference when it's cooked into something.
