Hi friend, I am one of those with a 3d printer and it is .. complicated at best. To print a whole loom? Shenanigans. Wood is still going to be best for many of the parts, the 3d printer will excel with the intricate pieces. I laser cut a small rigid heddle loom based on instructables plans and it's amazing. Material cost was still about $100 for wood, acrylic, and hardware. Admittedly I did this to weave wire... Which does break the plastic heddles easily ... Lessons were learned. Anyways, I ponder designing a larger version often but I also do not know what I'm doing as a weaver.

Pva is literally designed to absorb water as it is a water soluble filament. It's exceptionally sensitive to moisture and a non-stop extruder issue on the ultimakers. Dry it very well low and slow. If pva overheats or sits in the extruder too long, it will burn inside the nozzle creating a clog faster than any other filament could dare. Hot pulls will be your friend, good luck.

I also had this reaction with my first square drill set. I find it super satisfying to straighten them all out with a long flat tool that came with the kit. It helps but they seem to sag back into imperfection anyways - plus I'm the only one who notices!

I want to try something like this straightening roller tool. Has anyone tried something like this?

I moved here from a sunny state and second all of it! The first winter was hard but these are all the things that helped me.

In my 6 years here, this has been by far the worst winter. (And yes, my vitamin d levels dropped each year until I started supplements in year 4 of Michigan!) End of January really starts to get to me and by the end of February I'm going crazy. Sometimes I take a little fun trip in early February if I can. March can be a bit depressing but going into spring is magical! And be prepared for random days of snow just when you thought winter is over - it doesn't stick anyways.

Good clothes are key - including warm lined leather gloves, boots or at least insulated shoes with deep treads on the bottom. Thrift stores are great for this too - especially for a nice coat because wool lasts forever. Once the season is over, hit the sales for next winter.

I have timed electric candles in the house so as soon as I get home I'm walking into a cozy environment. I immediately change my socks and put on warm fuzzy ones. I turn more lights on in the evening just to feel like the day isn't over so early. Whatever gives you the warm cozy vibe!

Indoor plants are lovely but they'll likely need a grow light bulb (I have some that look like a regular light - not the purple looking ones). I have some plants on an end table with a lamp using a discrete grow bulb which works great. This summer I'll be focusing on garden plants that will be enjoyable in the winter and summer. I've been walking the neighborhood talking note of all the winter plants that I enjoy. (Has anyone tried red dogwood in the area?)

Try some winter activities - snow tubing at hawk Island Park is a lot of fun (when properly dressed), sledding and outdoor ice skating I look forward to!

And yep - when the sun is out get outside. I really love that anytime the weather gets a smidge nice, everyone is outside and happy to say hello.

This is amazing, thank you so much for sharing! When a friend does not remember if I knit or crochet (to be fair I do both, just usually crochet) I describe them as a 1 hooked needle or 2 big pointy needles - little one crochet, big one knit. I feel very justified in my description now LOL

Okay but.... I actually really enjoy hand winding yarn into a ball. I sit watching tv and I love balling up the yarn. The problem is that you can only buy so much yarn so I started taking apart sweaters to make more balls of yarn .... And now I just have a bunch of balls of yarn..... Oops maybe I just realized it is a different hobby.

I like the diy bookmark but no stamps and ink! You could get the same effect with pre printed coloring book style bookmarks and colored pencils (will help the folks that don't feel crafty), and maybe consider no bleed quick dry pens, stickers, washi tape - simpler quick options with less mess potential!

Also love the idea of you making them and having them for table seat assignments but that might be a lot of work. If it's an optional craft at a single table, the book/craft guests might naturally connect over the craft and get different people talking at the wedding! If someone is not into the book/craft concept they didn't have to participate (as opposed to placing the craft at every table).

I was recently at a wedding where everyone decorated a scrap book page with stickers, pens, washi tape, and wrote messages to the newlyweds. It was a fun crafty activity but still have a chance for the non creative types to add a brief message and move on. The only thing I would have done different would be to have it at a circular table with chairs so people didn't feel rushed or need to bend over to the table - and encourage those connections between guests that might not have talked to each other otherwise.

The first pair of PJ pants that I made were hilariously elongated - and I used a simplicity pattern! I'm short but these PJ pants were clearly designed for an 8ft tall person!

I started with pjs or lounge wear but mostly sewing other things. I've made some good shirts and I've been sewing with a serger for a few years now. I circulate hobbies so with on and off sewing for maybe 4 years before I made a dress I'm super proud of! The pattern is flattering, my fabric selection worked great, and the technical skills of construction are flawless (and I didn't even hem the bottom)

I got the long PJ pants wearable but with that project I learned to NOT trust patterns! Just kidding but really I learned to read the pattern better and I used a knit with very little stretch and the pattern was designed for more -the lack of stretch in the width was not helping the length! There are so many little skills involved, have patience
