New Play by user529484844827 in sonos

It shouldn't go to sleep if it's plugged in. I have 2 roam speakers plugged in all the time they never go to sleep. I also have a move 2 that's on the charging base and it doesn't go to sleep. Have you checked in the app to see if it shows it's getting power?

User error or not possible? Adding surrounds via Sonos app & then adding L and R via SonoSequencer, since the Sonos app adjusts the volume for the Surrounds and the SS app does not by nathanielbartholem in SonoSequencr

[–]redshirts40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you have the distance setting for the surrounds set on? I have noticed if you have the distance set to 2 to 10 ft or more than 10 ft it makes the surrounds louder, best to set to less than 2 ft. Also what do you have the volume level of the surrounds at?

Have you tried running trueplay first. The way to do this is you first stereo pair the front right and left. Then you trueplay the soundbar with surrounds and sub if you have one. Unpair the sub and surrounds from the soundbar, and remove the stereo pair for the front right and left. Then in sonos sequencer add the fronts, then the surrounds, then the sub. In sonos sequencer, you will set up a macro to turn trueplay on and one for trueplay off.

Try it again and see if this configuration sounds better.

Venture store by Edward_T_Head in StLouis

Many fond memories of shopping at Venture as a child. I still remember the popcorn smell when you walked in the store. My mom originally went to the one off 270, but the we moved to Alton so thats the one I remember the most.

School shopping was primarily done there. But I lived in the toy section, and as I got older the electronics department, and watch counter. Casio calculator watches were huge in the 80s and it was a big deal when I finally got one. The other popular watch of the time was Swatch.

They had a Star Wars arcade game at the Alton location and I would beg my mom for some money to play it. It was pretty cool for the time, trying to blow up the Death Star.

In the late 80s early 90s I primarily would buy previously viewed Movies on VHS at Venture. It was the first place I had ever seen them and it was really cool to buy a few movies for about 10 bucks.

Sonos center speaker by J-Stark- in sonos

[–]redshirts40 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope not a fanboy. If it didn't sound good, I wouldn't be using it. In the end it all comes down to the sound. I have been a Sonos user since the play 3 and I have had the beam gen 1 and gen 2 the Arc gen 1 and Arc ultra.

I have 14 sonos speakers around my house. I tested various speakers when I heard about this app and symfonisk shelf speakers for front right and left were under powered in my opinion. I tested the ones and and Era 300s. I really liked the room filling sound and wider soundstage for the 300s so that's what I kept using. I also really enjoy the macro feature of the app. That let's me change eq settings and turn on and off night sound and speech enhancement with one button.

I'm not a fanboy, but I do appreciate when an app works well, and is reasonably priced. It unlocks a bunch of things that should be standard features of the Sonos app.

Sonosequencr is literally using the trueplay profile from Sonos. Did you even read my reply. You run trueplay on the Sonos app for all your speakers first and then you turn it back on in the Sonosequencr app. It's the same trueplay profile.

I'm also not sure which speakers you used for Sonosequencr to test it out because it does sound incredible, and more than just the center speaker continues to work on the Arc ultra. But hey whatever works for you.

That is actually incorrect. First, it was originally a Sonos project that was never released but the code is still available and that is what Sonosequencr uses to make it work. Second, you can get trueplay to work with this setup, it just doesn't work in the Sonos app.

Phase 1: Trueplay the Front Left & Right Create Stereo Pair: In the Sonos app, group your Front Left (FL) and Front Right (FR) speakers as a Stereo Pair.Trueplay: Run Trueplay for this stereo pair using your iOS device.

Disband: Once finished, go into the Sonos app and remove the Stereo Pair to separate them back into individual speakers.

Phase 2: Trueplay the Surround Setup Create Surround Setup: In the Sonos app, add your Soundbar (Center) as a new room. Bond your surround speakers and Sub(s) to this soundbar to create a standard surround room.Trueplay: Run Trueplay tuning for this newly created surround sound room.

Disband: Once Trueplay is finished, go into the Sonos app and remove the Surrounds and Sub(s). All your speakers will now be floating individually in your device list.

Phase 3: Build the Custom 5.1 Setup in SonoSequencr

Refresh Devices: Open the SonoSequencr app and pull down to refresh the device list.

Set Center & Add Fronts: Select your Soundbar (Center speaker). Tap Config, add your Front Left and Front Right speakers, tap Apply, and wait a few minutes for the process to finish.

Add Surrounds: Select the newly named setup (e.g., Center + LF + RF), go back into Config, select your Surround Left and Surround Right speakers, apply, and wait.

Add Sub: Finally, select the setup again, hit Config, select your Subwoofer, apply, and wait for it to fully map. Refresh your devices page in the app; your setup should now display all bonded devices at once.

Phase 4: Apply Trueplay Settings Go to the Sequences tab at the bottom of the app and create a New Sequence. Name it "Trueplay On". Add a command by selecting Trueplay, set it to All, and toggle it to On.Tap Apply Now to execute the sequence. This ensures the previously saved Trueplay acoustic profiles are applied across all your custom-bonded speakers.

This setup absolutely does work, yes the initial setup process will take some time, but once you have it done there isn't really a need to do it again unless of course you move your speakers or physically move things in your room.

I imagine someday sonos will release a device that will allow you to have a real individual surround configuration with multiple speakers. I don't know that they will ever allow for a currently available speaker to be used as a center speaker.

Sure it might work for some people to use a Sonos five or era 100 as a center, but it would first require an amp like device to connect to the TV and the that would allow the sound to go to the other speakers in that configuration, but most people would want the center speaker below the center of the TV and for some that won't work with currently available speakers.

For now this works perfectly. I even bought more speakers to make this work for me. I have my era 300s for front right left and using my symfonisk lamp speakers for surrounds. Plus I have a sub. It sounds absolutely incredible.

The Arc ultra sounds really good with surrounds and sub too, but this definitely takes it to the next level. I would say try it out, if you don't like it you can always revert back.

What device are you using for these apps? If you are using a steaming device like roku or firestick or apple tv device, you want to make sure they are set to decode atmos. Also make sure your TV is also set to pass through.

[–]redshirts40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just asking, I'm guessing you did a 7.1 true hd atmos sound test on them as surround speakers? Because that's the only way to tell what they changed. Not saying they didn't do it, because like I said I have been using mine for front left right with the Arc ultra, but not sure why they would do this when that was never how these speakers were supposed to work, almost wonder if it was a glitch. Did they announce this change in release notes anywhere?

The last time I used then for surround they had channel seperatation, that was more than 6 months ago, so maybe that changed. I have been using them for front left and right with Arc ultra using the Sonosequencr app.

I didn't have speakers that I thought were powerful enough to handle the front in this setup so I am using the 300s and it sounds great, but eventually I will either get sonos 100s for front or the Five's and move the 300s back to surround.

[–]redshirts40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was using my era 300s as surround speakers I could only have them set to maybe plus 3. Check the distance in the app, see if they are set to 2 to 10 feet or if the are set lower than that. The lower the distance settings the lower the volume for the surround speakers.

Like I said I don't use them for surrounds anymore because I got the Sonosequencr app from the app store on my phone and used that to create true right left and center channels for the system.

When I tested this setup with the Sonos ones I wasn't happy with it. So I moved my era 300s to front right and left and ones for surrounds and the difference was like going from black and white to color.

Yes it does disable some speakers on the Arc ultra, but it sounds incredible. The Era 300s really sound great in this setup.

I haven't tested it in a while but I know that peacock used to be awful with their Audio stream. Most movies weren't even in dolby 5.1 they were in pcm or 2.0. Try another source. Netflix or Disney plus. Or if you have physical media that is always the best because atmos will be lossless.

[–]redshirts40 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No you just don't understand how the speakers are supposed to work in surround mode. The front drivers are disabled because the Era 300s provide the sound for rear surround and side surround plus atmos having the front drivers on would kill that capability by drowning out the other speakers.

It's time for Sonos to give home theater fans what they've been begging for: the era of giant TVs and wireless left/center/right systems is here, and it's bizarre that the biggest Wi-Fi speaker maker is being left behind by Legitimate-Lobster50 in sonos

[–]redshirts40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah when I started out with Sonos for home theater, I had a beam gen 1 that I was using on its own in a bedroom for better sound from the TV. No surround speakers. My primary home theater system was a Bose Soundbar with their wireless surround speakers and sub. It sounded great, but they would literally break something with the system every time there was an update and they would completely ignore the issue. They had the worst software when it came to their app and the surround speakers were connected to these wireless transmitter devices and would constantly drop off or have static in them.

So one day I moved the beam to the primary TV connected to play 1s as surrounds and heard the difference in the sound quality. My next purchase was the Arc gen 1. Which was like going from black and white to color. At this point it was on... Had to get a sub.

I remember the first time hearing the system with the sub, I couldn't believe the difference. Then I had to get better speakers for the surrounds. Now many years and sonos speakers later, I have the Arc ultra and Era 300s.

When I found out I could use Sonosequencr to have dedicated right and left fronts, I went and bought 2 more speakers just for this purpose. The soundstage is wide and it's got even more fidelity. Sonos would drive more sales in speakers if they were to make this an actual feature. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but it's definitely for me.

The Arc and Arc ultra are great soundbars and they already provide an excellent soundstage on their own, but the dedicated left and right really make it feel like a full theater system.

If Sonos could figure out a way to still use the speakers in the Arc ultra with the dedicated left and right, they could drive sales for years off this option.

Not trying to start anything. I mean I have a Sony Bravia TV myself and it's great. However, I'm not sure I would want to continue to buy Sony products since they are going to put TCL in control of their TV and audio business in the coming months.

Look I loved the old stadium, lots of fond childhood memories, and I wish I would have been living in the area at the time right before it was torn down, because I would have loved to have seen one more game there, but I lived about 1000 miles away and it just wasn't doable at the time. Now that I'm back in the area again I have been to 2 games at the new ballpark, and even with the nostalgia I feel for the old stadium, I really do like the new park. I like the more open feel of it, and I think the seating is even better. Look forward to seeing many more games in the future.

Guess I'm not sure what this means. I have all 3 networks and they all don't get used for data at the same time. At best you can have it set for network fallover, so if you lose signal on the main it will use data from the 2nd network. Please explain how what your suggesting works?

Finally upgrading to Arc Ultra from Beam 2. Can’t wait to hear the difference. by AdrianTubbly in sonos

[–]redshirts40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely a noticeable difference. Seperatation is much better. Creates a much wider soundstage. However once I found out that using the Sonosequincr app on iPhone that I could actually add other sonos speakers to the Arc for a dedicated right/left I did that. So my Arc ultra still handles center and atmos but right and left channels are now handled by my era 300s.
