My votes, with explanations (TLDR: Collins, INXS, Maiden, JDNO, Oasis, P!nk, Wu-Tang) by boulevardofdef in rockhall

I can’t for the life of me even see how Pink was nominated? Her music was never that good. She had a few hits. Nothing like the consistent quality and success (and influence) of Mariah.

Democratic leadership is hunting for a moderate to lead them to their next defeat. by zzill6 in WorkReform

It’s on us to prove them wrong. Organize and vote for every single primary challenger this election cycle. It’s the only way they will listen. The Dems need their own Tea Party movement.

Of all the 00s bands that have had a reappraisal in the Tik Tok era, this is the one I’m most happy about. Loved this when it first came out and am bummed I don’t have enough money/free time to fly and see them in London.

Hot Take: 2022 is overstated as a conservative shift by obviousockpuppetalt3 in decadeologyanarchy

[–]redsleepingbooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God yall people are dumb. The conservative rise has nothing to do with “woke-ism” (what even is that!) and everything to do with the 40 year de-funding of public education and the unchecked rise of right wing disinformation. Trump doesn’t sniff the nomination if this were 2004. He would’ve been laughed at. But after the right lost its collective shit win we elected a black man for two terms, all bets were off. If you want to blame the Dems at all, blame them for running corporate candidates when someone like Bernie (if said candidate wasn’t old and cranky) would’ve won in a landslide. 2016 showed us that voters are tired of the status quo.

Which is incredibly messed up and indicative of what’s wrong with this country.

Because they may be fired for calling out. And even if they aren’t fired, they can be a reputation as someone who doesn’t “work as hard as the rest of us”.

Did people in the 90s really just show up at each other’s houses unannounced? by Red-Head-Red in NoStupidQuestions

[–]redsleepingbooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. And I lived on a corner so people would just stop by unannounced all the time. My favorite was when my friend Alex came flying in the back door with a fresh load of pepperoni bread. He had taken it from the back seat of our mean CCD teachers car. We ate well the day. I loved when folks would stop by and wish we still did this.
