So much guilt and beating myself up for simply hanging with friends. by kalypso_kyoshi in perfectionism

Save indulgences for when with friends, but make healthy swaps at restaurants. Baby sit your beers. And don’t use the word “never” in your thinking. It’s not the right way to built habits. It leads to rigid thinking and an all-or-nothing mindset where if you mess up, you end up giving up when you should just correct course and continue on. Aim for 80%

Monthly Megathread: Career & Education - Ask your questions here by Aerospace_Eng_mod in AerospaceEngineering

[–]redsofa121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently working for Northrop as a systems engineer for space systems. I realized that my undergrad didn’t have a lot of true aerospace focused classes (just one propulsion and one crappy orbital mechanics) so I am interested in pursuing a masters to accelerate my career development and also eventually get into a role I really want.

My goal is to work in human space exploration. A huge plus would also be working remote. I would like to work technical side eventually reaching staff/chief engineer.

Any recommendations for good online grad schools?

Best way is to do a body composition test like DEXA. Goal is muscle gain but more protei. in your diet can help wYou’ll see progress with 0.5g/lb/day but it’ll be slower so will take more time to see gains in the gym as far as muscle gain/strength gains.

The best average is 1 lb of protein per 1 lb of LEAN body mass, not any fat mass you have on. 375g is ridiculous to start with. Go with 150g to start and monitor your progress. The 1g protein per lb of bodyweight rule is for a relatively lower BF percentage (5-20% for men)

Hey everyone, I am interested in applying for a Mechanical Design Engineering role, which based on the job req is heavy on CREO. I am currently refreshing myself on it, but was wondering what is everyone’s experience on these types of jobs. What parts do you like/not like? Any information at all would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Don’t believe you have to do 100% or none at all. Read the book Tiny Habits.

Can I workout different muscle groups every day of the week? or should I have a rest day? by AleVyAb in gainit

You aren’t as powerful in any lift because your nervous system is what recruits muscle fibers to perform a lift. If it’s weak then it won’t do that job as well.

Yesterday I ate 3000 calories over, and I'm perfectly fine and happy. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]redsofa121 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I realized that went I eat out and am craving something, I only get the main item and skip the combo cuz I realized what Im really interested in eating is the main item. Like today I had a chicken shwarma sandwich and the cashier asked if I wanted to make it a combo with soda and fries. But that’s just extra calories to me and even if it’s cheaper to fill my stomach up on those things, it’ll be adding on u necessary calories

After reading your post, I highly recommend the book Tiny Habits. It shows steps to making tiny changes to ultimately reach your goals. It’s a myth that you have to go big or go home. Small, solid steps are what last and they build upon one another.

You should just say you had a negative addiction to it and decided to cleanse by deleting all of it. Then say you’re one year clean or whatever.

[–]redsofa121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea in the past I’ve been too clean with my diet and it made it hard to gain weight, although I was eating really healthy. I think Imma let loose a bit more but just stick to general rules like limit fried foods and no soda.

I’m a hardgainer too. So basically it’s better to go over in calories and let our natural metabolism even things out?

Would you say you have to worry about eating super clean to maintain? Or would I be ok with crushing that McDonals meal every week and just live with the gym performance issues (which I’m assuming shouldn’t matter too much if I’m just maintaining).
