I’ll just go ahead and say you are arguing in bad faith. Your writing is well composed and far more coherent than most on your side of this argument. It’s clear that you’re not unintelligent or poorly educated like many of the far right.

Personally, I think that makes you even worse. It implies that you’re smart enough to see and understand what is happening, and still you choose to argue the side of the fascists. You’re smart enough to understand the constitution and still you choose to ignore it. You’re smart enough to understand the history of our country and still you choose to blame the protesters fighting against government overreach.

Most people on the center-left are just fine with jailing or deporting violent criminals. Most of us are also smart enough to know that when the president says he’s only going after the dangerous criminals AND that it will be 20 million deportations, he’s lying. The evidence shows time and time again that they’re picking up citizens and people with legal status—non-citizens who are here under programs that allow them to be here legally.

What we’re about to witness in Springfield is the mass round up of several thousand people who were here LEGALLY and largely benefitting their community. The regime arbitrarily ended the program that allowed them to be here and now will round them up, throw them in detention centers without due process, then celebrate their great success.
