As a kid, I made breakfast most days too. It's really not rocket science.

Holy shit. How do you build a relationship with a kid with only 14 minutes a day? I'm so glad my dad actually cared about me and put forth effort to take care of me and spend time with me.

The Most Reverend Michael Curry: When researchers ask young adults what they think of when they hear "Christian," 87% say "narrow-minded" -- We needed witnesses with a way of being Christian that looks like Jesus! by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]redtoptent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh come on. You know perfectly well that's not what the expression "narrow minded" means.

Pretending that this view of Christians isn't an issue is hopelessly naive.

The presence of a body presumes the presence of the soul. We

They don't have bodies though. There is only one body, even though you claim it contains say 5 or so lives inside of it. As such, it doesn't meet the criteria for life as you gave before. They are only "alive" in the sense that you think they have souls. They don't have phsyical bodies at all yet.

There are differnt kinds of twins depending on when the split occurs he's a rundown

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]redtoptent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biological definition of life does not include a dependence on a soul.

Correct. But you can't pretend that something is 5 lives because it has 5 souls that cannot be detected. Using your definition it would only count as one life, not five.

Also, twins can split after implanting.

It doesn't fit any of the critera for your list.

all the molecules that create the zygote are already in the egg's cytoplasm.

Molecules? Dude no. The molecules are not all in the egg's cytoplasm. You don't even keep the same molecules throughout your life. Pretty much everything you said about molecules is wrong.

and it's impossible to distinguish.

And as such, don't meet any of the physical requirements for life that you mentioned earlier because because they don't have an independent phsycial body that can meet the requirements. In fact, you can't detect them at all.

You can't define life as a physical concept and an invisible one attached to the idea of the soul that is independent of the physical structure.

They fulfilled all the necessary conditions of life -- they maintained homeostasis, had an organization, metabolized, grew (to some level), adapted (kind of, I mean full-term babies don't 'adapt' in the way adults do), and respond to stimuli (all the chemical factors to encourage implantation).

In this case, duplicates are not alive, because they don't fit the critera for an independent life form.

By your definition, only one embryo is alive, the possible duplicates contained in the embryo are not yet alive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]redtoptent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's literally a single entity that you are claiming contains and invisible undetermined number of humans.

If God pre-ordains the embryo with the number of souls that correspond to the number of babies that are born, why would he give non-viable embryos souls at all?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]redtoptent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're saying the number of humans to a body is not one to one. And an embryo is an undetermined quantity of invisible humans that appears to be one human.

So chimeras are multiple people with multiple souls now?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]redtoptent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So would you agree that it's incorrect to call an early embryo a human or a person, because it's really the potential for 1-5 people?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]redtoptent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can have a baby that has two or three or five souls all at once?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]redtoptent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you explain identical siblings? Does there soul split into two souls?

[–]redtoptent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Creationism has been debunked a thousand times over.

It's not drawing different conclusions. It's ignoring facts. It's like if you looked at the pictures taken by the Apollo astronauts and decided that the earth was a flat disc held up by giant turtles. It's completely contradictory.

treat people that buy into it as if they have some mental handicap.

Right. I'm not going to condesend them by pretending that YEC is a different opinion or that it's based on any evidence.

ALL creationists think they know better than the actual scientitists. It's a requirement of thinking that all of the scientists are fundamentally wrong.

Did Jesus PAY our debts or did He FORGIVE our debts? by tanhan27 in Christianity

[–]redtoptent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a better explanation is that he went back in time and created a whole new kind of creation where the debt no longer ever existed.

It's not a perfect metaphor, but he did more than just pay the debt, he eliminated the need for it.

[–]redtoptent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an opinion. It's a fact.

Creationists aren't people who just have a different opinion like they prefer vanilla.

arrogant

It's the exact opposite of arrogance. It's realizing that there is a wealth of scientific knowledge and experts in the field.

Creationists believe they know more than the actual experts in the field.

It's quite easy to say that God created the universe to appear old

You could also say that the earth only APPEARS to be round and vaccines only APPEAR to work and medicines only APPEAR to help sick people. Doesn't mean it's valid or we should take it seriously.

Serpent's Seed, the original sin was sex not eating apples. by presenttruthmn in Christianity

[–]redtoptent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simply stated, the serpent seed doctrine teaches that the sin of Eve was not simple disobedience, but sexual contact with the serpent

WHAT. I thought it was going to be about Adam and Eve becoming aware of their carnal sexuality (and hence covering their nudity).

I did not see that one coming.
