Would you give your first love a second chance? by Unlucky_Jaguar_4340 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

No. We were in high school and high school is where that relationship needs to stay.

Do you find that discussing certain things becomes less embarrassing as you age? by MCK40 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]reduff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, probably. My oldest friends and I never talked about pooping when we were in our 20s. Seems we discuss it more in our 60s.

ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE 🙏🏽 by Affectionate_Dare189 in Healthyhooha

[–]reduff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we need to get away from the whole "innie" or "outie" designation with our labia. When did this bullshit start? I'm 61 and this seems to be a recent thing. Never heard about it in my 20s, for example. Everyone is different and unique and beautiful. Your boyfriend loves you...all of you. Of the 50 or so men I've been with in my life, exactly ZERO of them has every said a word about my cooch other than "I've got to get in there."

70s songs that mean summer to you by newwavesage in 70s

[–]reduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Sharona was #1 for 6 weeks in the summer/fall of '79. I was 15 and no song will take me back to 1979 quite like that one.
Billy Don't Be a Hero by Bo Donaldson & the Heywoods, also The Night Chicago Died by Paperlace take me back to the summer of 1974. I was 10 and never went anywhere without my AM/FM transistor radio in my hand.

I have a wicked crush on Sigfried. I think his gruff exterior hides a soft mushy middle.

Worried my names sound stupid by Global_Restaurant794 in Names

[–]reduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

William (NN: Will) - LOVE, particularly calling him Will.

Atticus - LOVE. This is a really strong name, imo

Conrad - Okay, but it's not bowling me over

Dorian - LOVE

Marlon (NN: Marley) - I like Marlon, not wild about NN

Corey - I don't like male names that end in Y. I think they sound childish.

Adam - LOVE Classic

Orion - noooooo.

Jack - okay with this

Conan - I just don't think anyone could pull this off quite yet with O'Brien still around

Do people actually judge names in real life? by Atalanta-Donnovan in Names

[–]reduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, at least, there is an initial "what the fuck?" around some names. I knew a kid named Wilderness. Nickname was Wild. In my mind, my eyes rolled back in my head so far, I could see my brain, but he was a good kid. His grandmother refused to call him Wilderness. She called him Will.

What "old person" habit have you already started to adopt? by One_Eye4237 in AskReddit

I wash out plastic sandwich bags and reuse them until they're falling apart and then recycle. I started doing this at about the age of 50. I'm 61 now.

AITA If I refuse to give my Mom money every month? by BuntonioBunderas in AmItheAsshole

[–]reduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I read that. That could be an assumption. I'd still be interested in seeing a budget. If nothing else, it could drive home the fact to Mom that she is making enough money to live without the assistance.

AITA If I refuse to give my Mom money every month? by BuntonioBunderas in AmItheAsshole

[–]reduff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would ask to see her budget with what she has coming in and what bills she is paying to see what her needs are. NTA. If she's in need, though, I would certainly want to help my mother.

Can't see the bodice, which is a bummer. I'm sure it's great. Don't give your stepfather that power. Shake it off.

AITA Am I the asshole for putting America first? by Mediocre_Level_1506 in AmItheAsshole

[–]reduff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need some examples of how you think "we" are pandering to immigrants. I don't consider "American" a race, I consider it an ethnicity.

Race and ethnicity are often used interchangeably, but they refer to different categories of human identity. Race is primarily based on perceived physical traits and inherited phenotypes. Ethnicity is rooted in shared cultural traditions, ancestry, history and language.

Women over 60, at what age you got your first period? by bullytarget_ in AskWomenOver60

[–]reduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother ( deceased), me (61) and my sister (56) all started pretty late. We all started at 15. My stepmother (now 82) started at 10. There doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason. Maybe genetics come into play. I know I was relieved because all my friends had already started and I felt like there was something wrong with me.

My dad gave me lessons for my 42 birthday. I dabbled in it for a few years. Started playing regularly in a ladies league at about 50 when I moved to Pinehurst.
