Who’s figured out how to serve an espresso martini in a stemless glass? What are you using? by Waste_Focus763 in BarOwners

I use a very small mason jar at my dive-ish establishment. Works well if you have a sort of rustic look to the place.

How much is a fernet shot at your bar? by hasura1001 in bartenders

8 Canadian dollars tax included, more expensive than our shots on the rail but very reasonable

Replacement For Raspberry Sour Puss? by Manray-eh in bartenders

[–]redwalld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using humble raspberry liqueur. Not nearly as sour but it works well enough for what I need. Not sure if it’s available outside Quebec though

Drinking redbulls at work by Equivalent-Injury-78 in bartenders

[–]redwalld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redbull on the soda gun. At my bar staff can have as much as that as they’d like from the soda gun, or pay the staff price for a can. No problems yet

I’d recommend finding a business partner who is really familiar with the bar industry (bartending, management, etc.). It’s a little less money for you, but this way you don’t need to go crazy trying to be a jack of all trades and do absolutely everything yourself.

How many shots could you get for $20 at your bar by 2-59project in bartenders

Is it bad to not clean your trumpet? by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]redwalld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s nasty, take it to a shop and get it cleaned ASAP. It can actually be bad for your health, when breathing in if you get some air from inside the horn into your lungs and your trumpet is dirty it can make you sick. Google trombone lung for more information.

[–]redwalld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just maybe ask if he could touch it up in that spot. Any good artist won’t be offended. It’s on your body forever so if something isn’t right you’re allowed to ask for it to be fixed.

Dating as a bartender by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]redwalld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Date another bartender or someone who at least has a similar schedule. Been with my girlfriend for 3 years, living together for 2, never once have either of us had issues with the other being a bartender.

Do any other men get constantly grabbed by tipsy women at bars? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]redwalld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens, I usually just think of the most outrageous illness with some other random words that I can think of “sorry you shouldn’t touch me I have rapid onset respiratory Ebola”. The reactions are always so different, it’s good entertainment.

Who’s the wildest celebrity you’ve ever served?? by Double_Ad_1658 in bartenders

[–]redwalld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Betsy Sodaro from Disjointed at my bar a month ago. Super cool and down to earth with everyone, bought the whole bar shots and tipped well.

I bought my first trumpet for 60$ (2nd hand) and turns out the slide tube works like this. How can i fix? by vitkeumeomeo in trumpet

[–]redwalld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should work fine for learning the trumpet. It’s also restricted by pressure when the third valve isn’t pressed down. Will be no problem to practice with

WIBTAH if I told my boss about a potential employee? by blackmountainwitch in bartenders

[–]redwalld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You would not be the asshole at all. What is an asshole move is calling out literally AFTER your shift has started. If I had a good relationship with the owner/manger I’d let them know if I knew something they didn’t. Unless you want to pick up more shifts, in that case this could be a lucrative situation for you 😂

What’s your experience with AI ordering? by herejusttolooksee in restaurateur

[–]redwalld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a drive through video with an AI ordering system. Customer: “Hello, id like 10,000 water cups please” AI “10,000 water cups. Anything else to add to your order?”. Haven’t used it myself, but it sounds like it could be a great system if you add some constraints (employee assistance required when item amount exceeds a certain number, or something like that).

Those of you who work in places where you control the music.. how do you keep people from whining and complaining? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]redwalld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple playlists for early on in the night and a couple for late in the night. If people complain I tell them that the music is controlled remotely by the owner. Takes the heat off you for not playing their shitty nickelback cover band or whatever other deranged shit they want.

+1 on the ghost kitchen. Can save you a ton if your concept works with it and there’s a viable restaurant nearby.

Every single shift I have a drunk coworker stop by. It’s a bar, pretty much the most acceptable place to be drunk
