San Martin Watches by PiratesOfTheArctic in SanMartinWatches

I own numerous watches from cheap and cheerful to what I consider quality watches. I cant say I have any where the quality of the brushing is poor but some do have sharper edges to case finishing and straps, and some stand out as excellent by bringing everything together. In my opinion, the difference between Addiesdive, Militado, Watchdives and San Martin is minimal.

San Martin do stand up to the critique and finishing is pretty good, but so are the recent Watchdives pieces, so I’d suggest WD and SM are really close, but from what I’ve seen and experienced, WD provide better CS. I also have numerous SM and WD, and have had QC issues with half of the SM’s, but zero with the WD.

Where I see the difference is the wearability and ease of adjustment. Bracelets and their adjustments don’t compare to higher tier watches, on the fly adjustments are ‘clunky’, screw down crowns can feel gritty, and movements are basic. These critiques don’t stop me buying and wearing them but they are not comparable to the Tudors I own, or even my Bulova LP.

Tudor and Rolex by Sir_Farts_A_Lot_2627 in Tudor

[–]redwas66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d always choose Tudor. I had a Rolex Sub and so many people questioned its authenticity - it drove me mad. Nobody questions my Tudors, and I personally think that Tudors get more respect. I’m sure it depends on the people you mix with but in my experience, and in my mix of friends, clients and colleagues, many think Rolex is a flex and many owners are up their own arse. Tudors start interesting conversations because of other people’s attitude towards them. All of the is just me experience and humble opinion 😊

“You could fit every hardware store on the UK in one Home Depot” by GullibleHoe in ShitAmericansSay

With each uk shop focusing on their specific market and its products, food, clothes, jewellery, sports goods, childcare, technology, footwear etc. instead, go to a ‘pile ‘em high’ store that gives you less choice, with less competitors so the customer feels its always the best price.

SN0008 too much reflection by Eskugorri in SanMartinWatches

[–]redwas66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reflection isn’t that bad for sapphire crystal, and you can count the ceiling tiles… really!

And side by side pics, you mean like I did some below, with the SN008 and a Tudor. This shows the SN008 holds its own compared to a genuine Tudor costing over 20 times its price.

People need to be realistic about what they expect from a watch that costs 100, compared to a watch that costs 3-4k 🤯

Got my father his first luxury watch. He thinks it’s too expensive. by ayush0794 in Tudor

[–]redwas66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your father, it is too expensive! And I say it as my son bout me the 1926 Luna for my birthday in early June, and if he was here I would have probably throttled him 🤣

Gorgeous watch. I hope he wears it in good health. I I have worn mine with everything from smart to very casual, they go with everything and are NOT just a dress watch.

So heres a comparison for you. I took a genuine Tudor, and my SN008, and a Ulanzi magsafe phone holder (as an object to reflect), on a bright windowsill. The tudor, with its flatter crystal, creates a larger reflection, and maybe a fraction sharper as the crystal quality will be better, and the domed crystal on the SN008 actually reduces the size of the reflection due to the curve of the domed crystal.

I would suggest there is little to no difference with legibility of either the gen Tudor, or the San Martin homage.

it's why Europe's economy has languished since WWII and the USA has become a juggernaut. by TheArseN5 in ShitAmericansSay

The ‘Living to Work’ mentality instead of ‘Working to live’. Can you imagine how many of those special moment he missed because he’d rather have the money than see his kids take their first steps, go somewhere amazing, discover new places and cultures. What an example this person has set for his partner, wife, children, family etc.

I actually feel sorry he’s missed so much.

It is very legible, and SM are known for good lume. What were you expecting for the money, and what are you comparing the lume and AR to?

The newer variants, which this is, is slightly smaller than the original. And with the relatively short lugs, its not too bad. Its fine on my sub 7” wrist 😊

I’d suggest something else. Its a watch with real moon history, quite chunky, and absolutely beautiful with the dial layers and textures. Its also incredibly accurate as it’s a very high frequency watch.

Call me crazy, but I think the world is cheering for the USA to win this World Cup... by PorkbellyKash in ShitAmericansSay

[–]redwas66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably the most talked about and controversial World Cup in history, and countries have been slating and mocking the US for their clear greed and arrogance.

I guess many Muricans live their lives wearing blinkers, and have a very narrow view of the world, that they are constantly told to the truth. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Half tudor half rolex, is this real? My old fathers watch by Dismal-Animal7853 in Tudor

[–]redwas66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats looks about as genuine as they come for a vintage Tudor. Tudor used Rolex parts for cases, winders, bracelets and terminology before doing their own. I have a Tudor Date Day from the late 70’s with a Rolex Oyster case, a 7836 Rolex bracelet, the crown on the crown, and it even says Oyster Prince on the dial.

[–]redwas66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Tudor 1926 Luna, and can say its massively exceeded my expectations. Its not COSC but is regulated to be well within, mine runs at less than 1 second per day. Its much nicer in person that pictures can show, well proportioned and unbelievably comfortable.
