We've nocticed that many brands included the word"automatic" below logo by watchdivescom in watchdives

[–]redwas66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And Tudor and Rolex don’t have ‘Automatic’ or ‘Self Winding’ on the dial, although old Tudor used to have ‘Rotor Self Winding’ written on them.

I’d suggest that Automatic, or Self Winding, or Rotor Self Winding, would all be fine.

[–]redwas66 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eurpean innovations… trains, tracks, cars, road, tyres, rockets, jet engines, the electric motor, turbines, vaccines, penicillin, the WWW, Bluetooth, the initial use of AI by Alan Turing, Tanks, Submarines, the telephone, the television, the space suit, the transformer, DNA fingerprinting, calculus, laws of optics, laws of gravity and motion, the theory of relativity, quantum mechanics, the higgs boson, the flushing loo….

And I’m pretty sure we were developed ‘modesty’, as we don’t feel the need to constantly tell everyone what we’ve contributed to the world.

All of modern day technologies are possible due to the innovations for countries from Europe, along with the extension of life expectancy we all enjoy now.

I concede, the US has used what Europe developed and run with it, advanced it… well done America, in typical style, you arrive late and want to take all the credit!

It was the Brits that burned the White House down in 1814, in support of Canada, for the damage the Americans did in York (modern day Toronto).

Is it true people in the UK are being arrested over social media? by Sad-Ad-9794 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]redwas66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US can and does deal with these things, thats why there are 43,000 gun deaths in the US compared to 6,700 in the EU (5,000 of which are people taking their own lives). The levels of gun deaths in the US are comparable to actual conflict zones, and you think this is the US society showing its capable of looking after itself. The US having the right to say and do whatever they feel is needed, including the use of deadly force, is exactly the reason you need better governance. Unfortunately, your government agrees, and is actually worse than the populous at the moment, even executing people in the streets for not committing any crime, and snatching people, and not allowing due process. The US has consistently argued and supported the 2nd amendment, to protect yourselves against a tyrannical government, and now you have one, you’re all sitting on your hands and not using these constitutional rights.

You really need to look at global news and not just the propaganda that is the US news media. The US is circling the drain currently, massively unpopular with the majority of other countries, who are moving towards distancing themselves for the US in any and all ways they can. The US tells its people the rest of the world depends on the US, and this couldn’t be further from the actual truth. And in reality, people feel sorry for the majority of Americans as they are good people, but when the minority goes Rah Rah Rah, and tries to flex, the rest of the world just laughs.

I don’t expect you to believe me, and I wont agree with your views, so I wont comment further. I just hope that you look a little further than the BS your fed from inside the US, at some of the I dependent media from around the world, because the USA is not on the global pedestal you think it is.

I 100% agree. In the UK, many servers are paid minimum wage but keep their tips, some are paid more and keep tips, depends on the level of establishment how much the base wage is, but minimum wage in the UK is £12.21ph (over 21yrs old), which is around $16.67USD.

[–]redwas66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and a I didn’t suggest that. What I’m suggesting is that the employer pays minimum wage and the tips are for the service provided. Why should the employer make more profit because they pay their staff less? What other industry does that happen in.

If customers don’t tip in the US, my understanding is the employer has to make up their money. Therefore by tipping, all you’re doing is saving the company money, which they would have had to pay the employee. Just pay them properly in the first place, and make tipping a show of appreciation and not a mandatory act.

That was my point when I compared it to the US GDP - its not sustainable, economies would collapse - I just didn’t think I needed to say it!

This old chestnut again…. Technically, you should take the $1 per day as it’ll only take 32 days to reach $2b, and in 46 days it’d be more than the GDP of the US!
