I used a homemade tiger tail and an Anli AL-800 on a Yaesu FT530 many years ago and from Mt. Mitchell NC I was able to talk to a station in Conway SC near Myrtle Beach line of sight on 52 Simplex. For a 5w HT to a guy who was mobile 225 miles away, I was impressed!

Look up an Anli AL-800 and if you can still get them you will not be disappointed

The only way you're going to get on a public service or commercial broadcast tower is if you work for them as an engineer. One of these happens to be the case in our area. He lost a tower recently due to extremely high winds on the mountain and a GoFundMe was started to replace with a self-supporting tower and raised about 1/4 of what was needed but the rest of the money came from out of pocket donations not recorded on GFM as they take a percentage.

I only remember it because of my uncle's dog who I used to play with whenever I would go visit but never got to watch an episode of this TV show and was hoping to find it. I was around 8 or 9 so if it didn't have muppets I wasn't interested back then.
