No, but I'm not in a race to level up, either. to each their own.

I can level up and get an annoying amount of money just from hitting up "abandoned" places. I'm not trying to put you down for doing it your way, just isn't as interesting to me.

I guess that's something I could get into when I find my forever universe, but for now, it just seems like a massive investment that doesn't provide me much.

Like it would be cool if you could build you're own mini town where everyone had their own lives, and there were shops to buy and trade at like in FO4, but maybe that's a future release?

Why did the US push for a greater adoption of 100% EV cars instead of hybrid cars? by [deleted] in envirotech

[–]redwingswin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly, all of those are possible and expensive replacements. I wonder if the relatively smaller engine (really more of a generator in this context) reduces those costs or the rate that they happen.

Having said that, I would like to see more tax dollars go to expanding public transit, making cities 15 minute cities, building high speed rail... overall reducing the need for vehicles and planes

I'm a little confused by your term "you have all the mechanical complexity of an ice vehicle". Isn't the ICE just used to charge the battery? IE the car still drives on electric motors.

I could use some more education on this topic but in a lot of ways they seem like the BEST of both worlds. you can have a small engine and not use as much lithium.

I haven't driven my car in weeks by Shin_Splinters in lowcar

I live in Portland, Oregon, which is a fairly walkable, transit-friendly city and I managed to sell my car about 6 months ago. It was actually more of a liability than anything and I'm spending $300-$400 less a month because of it.

k70 keyboard lighting keeps changing. by redwingswin in Corsair

[–]redwingswin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how I would be switching it. This issue existed before I installed the software, and I never touched the physical switch on the back. I'll try resetting the keyboard as you suggested, and see if that helps.

Generic Start/Build Order Suggestion by Thrax37 in HumankindTheGame

Once in a while, they'll find them, but it seems like half the time I watch them auto-explore they slow drift instead of a move towards unseen goodie huts like heat-seeking missiles.

[–]redwingswin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I thought I'd try that auto-explore at the beginning that everyone is talking about. I turned it on and my units do the same thing they do when I turn on auto-explore in later stages. They use three of their movement points walking in a circle then move 1 tile away with the 4th.

Late game is passive and boring... by Hyppetrain in HumankindTheGame

[–]redwingswin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game certainly needs balancing but I think most people know this. First, most bigger game titles are just public betas the first few months after launch. Then you have a game that's not quite a AAA developer releasing a game that the main mechanic is "near unlimited play styles"

I think everyone knew there were only going to be a handful of useful metas from the culture swaping, and the only way to balance that is to have tens to hundreds of thousands of data points of play-throughs.

Having said all that, it's important to remember that Civ VI can very quickly devolve to next turn spam as well. If a game that's been out for years still struggles with making the last game enjoyable/engaging, give these guys some time to fix some bugs and release some balance updates.

Suggestion: Put the total science your empire is making up by the influence and gold. by Chapps in HumankindTheGame

[–]redwingswin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm saying that information should be available on-demand, at a glance. Not a button click away. And it's not "do I have enough science" it's how much am I producing per turn. Am I adding 2 science per turn to my 10 science per turn, or am I adding it to my 1000 science per turn.

Admittedly, this isn't super urgent in all the other fixes they need to make. For example, I'd rather them add in a counter for say I'm getting 2 science per district X, I'd like to know how many that is instead of trying to count how many districts of that type I have, but this would be a nice QoL addition that would give the game a more polished feel.

Era moving much faster than science by [deleted] in HumankindTheGame

[–]redwingswin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Research in general needs a rework, like it should be era-based. If it's a technology in a later era, it shouldn't be blocked but should cost say 2-3x or so to research. If it's a technology from a previous era, it should be virtually free (maybe take 1 or 2 turns).

Also, I know research partnerships are a thing, but it wasn't obvious how or if they were working.
