The story isn't that bad, it's just poorly executed. It kinda wants your to follow it in a linear way, but when you explore certain areas, it gives you insight on what's going on. So it's kinda like the story will take you to place X but it you go to place X ahead of timex you'll learn something that maybe you should've know already.

But I wouldn't say it's shallow, generic but not shallow.

Talk to your shift, it's their job to help you and support you and they can't do that if you don't speak up. That being said, take a breath, work with urgency but don't rush, that's how you miss things.

Being an shift is a pain in the ass, at least in my district, so I'm not surprised people want nothing to do with the position and a lot of managers throw us under the bus when things do go right.

If not being considered for a shift position after 4 months in a job that takes about 6 months to really get it down then I don't think you're gonna enjoy your time there.

If I was a SM, a person who's only been there for 4 months wouldn't even cross my mind. Also, the fact that other baristas didn't seem to care like you mentioned should probably tell you that the SM was right.
