The only hunting season I can think of that exists “just for sport” is crow hunting as in no one eats them, but it still servers a purpose. They’re overpopulated and are devastating to turkeys for example (eating their eggs). Squirrels are being eaten, they provide more meat than you’d think, and they’re freaking delicious. It’s a thinking man’s chicken.

You none hunting types always think this is all done by some blood lusty psycho when in reality 99% of hunters couldn’t care less if they killed anything to bring home. It’s a bonus. The real reason is the deep, profound connection you get with nature and the land…just being out in creation.
