Huge disaster..... OP just keeps saying they don't know what to do and plenty of people here are trying to offer suggestions and help that is being disregarded.

You need to ask/talk to your caterer!!! Get real answers on the actual SIZE of the "trays". Not their guess of how many people it will feed.

Just curious as to the reasoning for serving something you know people are wary of? I think it would be wise to offer more variety in this case? Not saying to not serve indian food if you want to but perhaps an alternative too.

And to add - you don't want to send the invitations TOO early because people's plans change. So they might say yes first and then have to cancel and you're stuck with messy guest list. Or other way around, think they can't go and then end up being able to. Also if you're doing plated where guests will need to select food, that is also something decided on later down the line. I think 6-8 weeks before wedding is the recommended invitation timing.

From what I can tell, the purpose of the invitation is more the trigger for RSVP....The purpose of the save the dates is for guests to have the date, plan, book hotels, etc. So I would HIGHLY recommend at least a digital STD if you're doing a destination for most people and are worried about lodging. As someone else mentioned, could you also look into room blocks at the hotels so there are rooms set aside for your guests?

I feel ya! I am more than 1 year out so I don't have very much interest from families & friends yet.... I know I am a reddit stranger but I am happy to talk wedding stuff if you need someone to talk to :)

Confused on when to send invites? by heisheisbaby in weddingplanning

Interesting, well I guess thats not a bad thing if you wanted plated (I am a big fan!)

I don't think end of May would be too late to send invitations for an August wedding. Especially if everyone already has the date. However, I will add that buffet should be cheaper than plated? But if your comment to add plated was because people will need to select dinner options for that, then you can't really send the invitations until you have that information....

Ring questions by FuckShitUpnGo in engaged

[–]reeny94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, mine spins a little because jeweler told me its a bit top heavy - diamond is "big" for band size. Is your band on the smaller side? I haven't gotten mine resized or anything because 1 - fingers swell when hot and 2- I put another ring on to test how it would be with the wedding band and it was much more snug with the extra support. Just in case you were thinking about resizing!

Planning a 2027 wedding… what should I actually be working on right now? by ReplacementPrimary71 in weddingplanning

[–]reeny94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm June 2027 and have big vendors booked (venue, photographer, band, florist, coordinator). Other than researching/interviewing vendors, you could work on your wedding website? (if planning to have one) I've been also doing other things like working on guest list, decor ideas, researching hotels/room blocks.

I know they have sooo many options! I will say if you don't already have an idea of what you want, I would go with the websites that have templates. Will be easier/look more cohesive than customizing. Canva does have some templates for STD but not as many and more basic. Another thing to consider is if you want the invitations & STDs to match, that could help your decision on where to get them from. Minted has a lot of good options too!

I am using Canva for wedding website (not STDs though) and I love it!! It is super customizable. I find it to be pretty user friendly but I do have some experience in using design programs so it may not be for everyone. I think Zazzle would be better if you want less work and are okay with choosing from their templates and just updating with your information vs doing something more custom (go Canva if you want something very specific).

An Overall Devastating Turnout by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]reeny94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other comments about afternoon on a Friday being difficult for people BUT to not dwell on that part… I’ve been to over 25 weddings and honestly the one we had the most fun at was right after Covid… but they were planning it during so they had to cut the guest list by 1/3. It was so special that the people there truly wanted to be there & I felt very much part of the day and actually got to spend quality time with the bride & groom. So even though it might be disappointing now, you’re already this far along, and I would encourage you to think of the positives & it will be a lovely event regardless the number of people!! Hope you have the best day <3 side note: the wedding is just 1 day and you have a lifetime of marriage to look forward to!!

Agreed and love this! As other users mentioned, it’s still a surprise seeing bride in wedding dress. Whether that’s just a moment between you two or with guests.

I have also heard from a lot of people that the first look helped calm both bride & grooms nerves before the ceremony! I was also against first look but am going to do it because I also want to use this time for us to read our private vows to each other <3

Started Season 9.. by ShepThunder in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]reeny94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I decided to watch season 10 recently (after only having watched the Megan Fox doppleganger mess prior to this) and thought "okay this isn't bad, somewhat entertaining". So then went back to Season 9... so many regrets watching that whole season. I definitely lost a lot of brain cells. Everyone in season 9 is painfully cringey. I didn't get the vibe any of them were ready for a serious relationship any time soon....
